We had purchased a Mens Gold Bracelet from M.P.Jewelars (Ultadanga Branch, Kolkata, W.B) in the month of Oct 09. After wearing it for a month, it started wearing out / breaking at few places.
We brought it back to the shop & they said, they will need to put in some extra gold & repair the same.
They told us, we need to pay only for the extra gold & not for the repairing charges as the jewelry was less than a month old. We agreed to that.
Today when we received the same, we found that it weighted even less than the original. When questioned, they said it was because of the gold loss while polishing the same after repairing.
We had not asked them to polish the same.
They even charged us around Rs.160 saying there was an addition of gold in repairing although it weighted less than the original.
Its a shame to see such a reputed Jewelry house cheating the customer in such a way.
We pay such high making charge at the time of buying the jewellary & then it has to be repaired in less than a month. And finally, you land up not even getting how much you actually paid for.
With Gold prices going higher each day, i would earnestly request the right Forum to address this issue not only with M.P Jewelers but with all other to make sure that they cannot cheat the consumers under any lame explainations. Its an asset we are investing our saving in. the minimun we can expect is to get back what we actually paid for.
Kindly look into the issue. Was this information helpful? |
Gold Bracelet — Cheating
I made an order with one Jeweller having shop in the name of " Riyaz Jewellers" in Bazaar Batamaloo for making gold bracelet (Kada) having 22 ct. of gold. The order was placed on 25.07.2011 and I advanced an amount of Rs.20,000/- for which I got receipt. The jeweller was told to make the bracelet ( Kada) for about 30 grams and the market valuation of the gold as per his statement at the time was 2000/- per gram. I was told to come after a week. But he made me run from pillar to post by saying the order is not ready as yet. After two months time when I approached him with an angry mood , he then opened his safe and handed over the Kada weighing about 29.100 grams and added in the receipt some 1.300 grams as wastage . But the problem existed when he demaded price of the Kada @ 2550/- per gram for 30.400 grams. I resisted him for not keeping his promise of giving the kada on time and he deliberately gained time of two months till the the gold prices escalated. Now I lodge this complaint , first to check whetehr my Kada is 22 ct. or not and 2nd for escalating the price of kada.
