I transferred an amount of 8.0 lacs towards property purchase from my account in indian bank, chennai to benificiary account maintained with south indian bank, mg road, thrissur vide rtgs. My bank confirmed the transaction and gave me message number. However, even after the lapse of 3 hrs, the amount was not credited to the beneficiary account nor the message was returned.Indian bank confirmed that transaction has been completed and money credited to the rtgs participating bank. Contrary to rbi directives, south india bank not only credited the account, but cheif manager behaved in an unruly manner with the complainant saying " stop irritating me'. I want an answer from sib on this. I shall also take up this matter with banking ombudsman. Rtgs transfer is being encouraged at all levels to ensure transparency in transactions and i am sure that rbi will take a very serious view of it.
