It has been exactly eleven days since I gave a complaint to you regarding catching of fire by my M & M Scorpio LXM Reg No UP 80 BD 1275, Chasis No. MAITB2BSC82E79576, Engine No.BS84E30795 Purchase dt 9/10/09.
When I did not get any response from you or your Authorised dealer M/s Atmaram Auto Enterprises, Agra, I contacted them over telephone on 23rd May 09 to know the fate of my vehicle lying with them &the status of my complaint.I was informed that the Service Engineer of the company will visit the dealership on 27th May 09.I requested them to call me over telephone as soon as he visits & not to conduct any investigation or repair works in my absence.After some time I received a call & the person identified himself as Mr. Amitabh Nautial, the Service Engineer of the company.I repeated the same request to him also.
When I did not get any call on 27th May I visited the Agra dealership on 28th May 2009 & met Mr.Anil Dudhewala the owner of the dealership. He informed me that Mr. Nautial visited his dealership on 27th as per schedule & the repairwork in my vehicle has been completed in my absence.On informing him that repair work should have been completed in my presence he replied that as I was out of station hence they did the job on getting my concurrence over telephone, which was a blatant lie.
From this it is clear that your company & the dealer is not interested in solving my complaint & are even not showing basic courtsy to its customers of even responding to their queries. You are trying to hide some design faults & endangering the life & property of customers.All this comes under the definition of deficiency in customer service under customer protection act. Hence I would like to give final notice to you that if withen three days of this mail my vehicle is not replaced & suitable compensation is not given to me for the hardship I am facing & mental trauma I have suffered, I will be forced to file a case in the competent forum for redress of my grievance. Also as I understand that the said model has some design fault hence I am starting a blog through which customers who have faced similar problems will be invited so that all o[censored]s can fight collectively against the dangerous game your company is playing by endangering the life of its customers.
Also I will seek the help of consumer protection NGO's & organisations so that maximum coverage can be given through print & electronic media so that your company is forced to pull back the faulty model before any more lives are endangered.

A couple of days back our Scorpio Crde vehicle while on the HighWay No 2, near Etmadpur, suddenly emitting irregular noise accompanied with smoke. On stopping & opening the bonnet heavy smoke with fire was observed in the engine.The fire was doused with mud & water. The vehicle was towed to your local dealers at Agra, M/s Atmaram. We were informed that the intake pipe of the air induction system had broken off & due to friction & some other reasons it had caught fire.
We had been purchasing your vehicles for the last few years, believing that a reputed company like yours, must be keeping the safety of its customers as top priority. But we were shocked to find another customer in the above dealership who had faced the same problem. This reflects very poorly on the functioning of your company & the weightage you give to customer safety.
We request you to depute your HO Service personnel to inspect & attend our vehicle on priority basis. Further we request you to give to us in writing the exact cause of this accident & also the recourse to the passenger, in case the same problem occurs in our other vehicles and the electrical malfunction due to fire.In the interim we have started keeping a hammer to break open the windscreen as a precautionary measure.
We request you to treat this matter as extremely urgent.

I would like to narrate a wonderful experience I had within one and a half year of buying the car.
I bought Mahindra Scorpio 4WD from Snow view Automobiles, Shimla. This was my second Scorpio and it was my first choice because of the experience of the first one, but my experience with the new Scorpio had changed the perception completely in the opposite Direction.
The story starts from the day 5th Sept. 2008. The day it came out of the showroom. Within one month in the first week of October a trip to Leh with 4x4 Scorpio car had to be towed back to the showroom because its torsion bar broke off only after 4000km. the car was returned back after one month on 12th November by the company. What made me wonder was if the company was building the new car as I have never seen anywhere where it took so much time to replace the torsion bar or may be because company must be shipping the component from USA than only it may take so much time?
That’s just the beginning, another nice experience I had while travelling from Shimla to Somnath in Jan 2009 with my family, brake fluid pipe leaked in Bur in Middle of the Desert in Rajasthan. The help which I could get from the Helpline was that the nearest service station was at Jodhpur from the 367 kms away. That was the best they can do for me. The new car brake pipe leaked on the straight National Highway road amazed me. Would thank god as it was straight road without much traffic so slowly shifted to high gears to stop the car, if it was Shimla I would definitely had made the news in the Paper. I had to get it repaired locally and after coming back when I went to the showroom the pipe was not available and they repaired it with the same local pipe. The same pipe leaked again in next month in Feb. while travelling to Delhi on business tour near Karnal.
The complete year was full of troubles and all every month or the other I had to be in the Showroom. Showroom mechanics have become good friends of mine and it seems I give more time in showroom than my office.
In Dec. 2009 four wheel drive some part broke off for which they took 25 days to repair the car. All the time it made me think that this is the last time from next time it would be completely be fine.
Next month 2010 while travelling towards Chandigarh torsion bar bolt broke off on the curve at the speed of 40 km/hr. May be god is gracious on me that’s why it didn’t toppled, I was just on the line of seeing the another world. The had car was repaired in Swami Automobiles in Chandigarh but the job done was above expectations, as I had to get the torsion bar repaired again after three weeks.
Latest update is of yesterday, exhaust manifold leaked and it is standing the showroom again.
I would like to thank you for providing me such a wonder full car as it has become so personal as the time devoted by me in comparison of business and family is much more. Tensions have doubled as I am into fruit and vegetable business and had to go to villages in Kucha road but all the time I go I always cross my fingers and only Hunumaan Chalisa runs in my stereo as I touch the kucha road. Thanks for making me so close to God.
I would just like to ask do you charge less for not providing the Quality or you want to provide a SUV at the lowest prices without quality and this time if you want I would be happy to give you the car back.
Three times my life was at risk because I spend ten lakhs.
I know consumer does not hold any importance in India but one thing for sure that you have lost one customer permanently. My business has suffered so much that I have no intentions to keep it any more. I have become a laughing stock among my friends and relatives, the hard work put behind to buy 10 lac car had given me such good returns that I don't intend to go with the brand Mahindra next time.
I am also the customer of Club Mahindra but if this is the service of Mahindra I am ready to cancel my membership.
