I took flight SJ234 on Saturday December 14th 2013 from New Delhi to Guwahati at 3.10 P.M, as I boarded the aircraft I saw the overhead bin full (but unorganized, if properly kept space could easily be made, above row 5). As I was trying to organize the luggage above, one of the onboard staff (male) came to me and said sir I will take this bag and keep it in front you can collect at destination. Although I never trust them but since the flight was getting late they were rushing very one up(ofcourse its Spice Jet what do you expect), I let him took my bag. That was the last time I saw my bag. At destination I asked the same male attendant where is my bag? he said you will get it at baggage claim belt. I checked with him are you sure he said yes I am.
I went to the baggage claim and waited, when baggage started coming half way thru I got suspicious so I located a staff near baggage claim and narrated her what has happened and I told her I am not sure that my bag was in with checked in luggage and that she should check with the on board staff. I knew the aircraft has not left and they must be boarding the flight, she told me don’t worry you will get it here itself and got busy talking to someone (very rude and insensitive behavior). I went back and waited and soon my hunch came true and my bag didn’t show up.
I again went to the same lady and told her, she then started telling giving me all the stories it must be here, please check (as if I am blind and can’t see my bag, also the fact that I was the lone person in baggage claim area). Then I told her can you please check with onboard staff, she told me she can’t as the doors have closed (without even checking, as if she is god and know everything). I asked her to check and she said sir this is a airplane not a bus which we can stop and check (she was telling this to someone who has travelled to more than 40 countries, lived in US for 11 years and has been travelling internationally for over 15 years) STUPID LADY is all I could think then. Then I demanded seeing her manager and instead of taking me to the office she merely pointed me to a small room and said there is the office you can go there. I went there and again narrated the whole thing to a person sitting in the office, he told me to wait and that he will check. 15 mins gone nothing I went and checked, again please wait, another 20 mins nothing so I went back and checked and again the same answer we are checking it takes time so please wait. This whole thing continued for 1.5 hrs, with no result. As my car was waiting outside and since there was nothing I was getting and that I was getting late for the Wedding Reception I had to attend I decided to leave my phone number with them and asked them to give me a call. All my stuff that I had brought to for the wedding was in that bag, I was feeling so stupid that I travel from Jaipur to Guwahati attend this wedding I will have to attend that in a jeans and t-shirt. As there was not even time to go buy a decent one. The person at the kiosk told me that sir we will call you tomorrow to give you an update.
Till date (today is December 17th) I have not received any call from them. I am still waiting to hear. On the next day when I was taking my return flight from Guwahati to Delhi I went and asked again where is my bag, is there any update. Again I got blank faces and no answer.
