Wildbloom By Annie — Traumatic experience

Address: Crosspoint Mall, Gurgaon

I wish I couldve left a better review and after my first visit- I most def would've. My boys have been going to her for more than a year for haircuts and it has more or less been a decent experience.
I have very long and curly hair- so my first visit to a salon after many years (including the pandemic) was Wildbloom by Annie.
Just before the new year 2023, I wanted a dramatic change in colour- I got it and good advice by Annies too. I have three herniated discs in my neck- so asked them to be v careful while washing etc- they were so careful, that I was actually taken aback (as this is one part I dread about salon visits).
Staff was very courteous. I couldn't have asked for a better back-to-salon experience.

Cut to a month later. Took an appointment for a root touch-up before a very important official event with their senior most stylist- Bhupinder. I reached on time and was ushered to a chair. After 10 minutes of being pointedly ignored by the stylist working on the next chair, I was approached by the same person. No greeting, no introduction. On my asking his name, he said Bhupinder ...and left.

5 minutes later a junior intern comes and starts combing my dry and tangled hair out with a marked lack of gentleness or knowledge. I am now a little thoughtful. This is followed by a senior stylist suddenly taking charge of colouring my roots even though the appointment was not with him but with the said Bhupinder.

He asked me whether I would prefer ammonia free or with ammonia and I naturally replied the first. On which there was a whispered consultation with Annie herself who was busy with another client right behind my chair- also showing that she knew all that was going on. It would indeed speak ver poorly of her as a proprietor if she didn't. However she insisted on a dye with ammonia and my faith in her judgement led me to go with her recommendation- something I sorely regretted later on.

The senior stylist by now has hurriedly applied the dye which is beginning to itch on one half of my head and on my asking him- that he wasn't going all over; the second half was done meticulously.

My dreaded time for the wash and the previous trainee/ intern, who could understand very little English or hindi, proceeded to tug/ yank and basically make a mess of my hair. I repeatedly told him to not take too much time on massages because of my neck- in eng/ hindi and by gestures. Half and hour later, I had to get up or pass out- so I chose the first- water dripping from my rough and tangled hair.

When I was seated at the chair again- I found to my horror that the boy had not even conditioned it in the half an hour I was imploring him to hurry up. Pls remember that the salon was buzzing with employees milling about- NOT ONE stepped in or stepped up.

Trying to detangle my hair- showed the shocking brand patch of black all along my hairline on my forehead- something I cannot reconcile to, having paid enough money for expertise. My skin was then scrubbed raw, with suddenly 3 people trying everything they could- to no avail.

By this time, I am loud- disappointment and shock slowly making way to anger and a sense of being cheated. The owner Annie- barely a foot away CHOSE not to step in.

I paid in full for a traumatic afternoon and serious damage of hair- and the resultant allergy to the ammonia based dye. More fool me. My husband tried to call and speak to her twice after that- to no response.

I obviously wish I hadn't gone again this second time and also that they wake up and go beneath the superficial client peasing- Coffey/ tea routine.
Right from the ego of Bhupinder (who I clearly offended by asking for an introduction and who decided to pass my appointment on without permission nor information), to employing little more than adult young men who do not understand local language, to a senior stylist who clearly is not good with basic root touch up, to the owner not owning up.
A harrowing experience which can quickly become the norm rather than the exception as it was with me.

I had a similar experience. The arrogance of the lady at the reception is beyond belief. They apply products on your hair without even asking you and then charge you for it. The first time I went there I got a blow dry with the hair color. But surprisingly the next time I got a hair color they charged me extra for a simple dry.
