I am a resident of Chennai City. On 22nd January 2010 I made a purchase of one 'pineapple (whole)' among other foodstuff and had to wait at the counter for 35 Minutes as only one counter was in operation(Of the two counters) at the Reliance Fresh outlet at Panchaliamman Koil St., Arumbakkam, Chennai. After making the payment in cash I found that I was Billed for 'Pineapple-cleaned and wrapped' and the price is almost double than the item I had purchased. I informed the billing lady about the error but from her reaction it could be made out that she lacked training and interaction abilities. With some pleading, another billing clerk came to the counter, booted the other machine, counted and tallied the cash at her counter, which was verified and reverified consuming about 15 minutes, verified my bill and gave her verdict that since it was already billed and payment received, I had only one option and that is to buy something of my choice for the excess billed amount. The lack of ethics, lack of consideration for a person made to wait at the counter for 50 minutes and who is the reason for the staff being employed there, is appalling. In disgust, I left the place without collecting the pineapple. I contacted the store Manager, one Mr.Gnanamurthy, to look into the matter and he promised to "HELP" (?) me. I am yet to hear back from him. The store would have been closed for the day and inconveniences forgotten. Will Reliance take any efforts to improve the situation for their 'Valued' Customers?
