[Resolved]  ROYAL DUTCH AIRLINES — Journey Inconvenience

My daughter NARAVAR RAMYA SHRUTI booked KLM ROYAL DUTCH air line ticket on 06 December 2007 at Hyderabad ,India through Hansa Holidays agency to IIT,Chicago ,USA to persue her Masters .The journey details are as follows.


HYDERABAD KL O874 10 JAN DEP TIME :0335 SEAT:34A
TO
AMSTERDAM ARRIVAL TIME : 0910


AMSTERDAM KL 0611 10 JAN DEP TIME:1035 SEAT:39A
TO
CHICAGO ORD ARRIVAL TIME: 1220

The flight from Hyderabad to Amsterdam started at correct time and reached Amsterdam in scheduled time.But the problem started from here throughout her journey until she reached Chicago at around 0930 hours on 11th Jan 2008.

I like to share the sequence of events happened throughout her journey including the response of KLM local office at Hydreabad.

As my daughter was travelling for the first time in the International airlines ,I was anxious to know about her journey details. When I enquired through local KLM office about schedule time of KL 0611 at Amsterdam they indicated the flight KL 0611 is as per schedule only.But when I went to your KLM web site I was shocked to note that flight no KL 0611, Amsterdam to Chicago was cancelled.

The idea of booking in your esteemed Air lines is to avoid these type of events.Also I paid Rs 50000/ for only one way travel keeping in view of my daughter safe and comfortable journey.But the response given by your loal KLM office is so careless that it has resulted into lot of Traumatic experience to us as well as to my daughter. I was totally out of touch with my daughters next flight arrangements inspite of six hours extra stay at
Amsterdam.Neither Hansa Holidays where I booked ticket nor your loal KLM office were helpful to give the details. After persistent efforts, we have been told by your local KLM office that next flight was arranged through United Airlines by flight no 719 to Chicago.But later we came to know that this is also false information.
At last KLM air hostess at Amsterdam was kind enough to lend her cell phone to my daughter and I could get the flight details of her journey. But I was at a loss to understand why your esteemed airlines could not arrange next flight directly to Chicago.
She was asked to board North West airlines flight no NW 097 to Hartford airport (BDL).
She reached Hartford airport around 8.00PM local time.

From here also I was anxious to know about the journey details to Chicago from BDL..Finally my daughter could able to pass on the message of journey details to Chicago using the cell phone of somebody at BDL airport.The programme was that she was asked to stay at BDL airport in comfort suits that night.The journey to Chicago next day as per boarding pass was as follows.

Hartford (BDL) to Detroit(DTW) Flight NW 1183.
6.02 AM 8.08 AM

Detroit (DTW) to Chicago(ORD) Flight NW 1237
9,02 AM 9,25 AM
Once again I was at a loss to understand why she could not be arranged direct flight to Chicago. I want to emphasise that I wished her maiden journey by International flights only to avoid frequent luggage shiftings bound to happen in domestic flights,but she was compelled to travel by domestic flights.At ORD the arrangements made to pick up her was not fruitful due to reschedule of her flights.

We faced lot of problems to make an alternate arrangement for picking up of my daughter at ORD .Luckly we could track the flight journey thru N/W airlines web site hour by hour right from BDL to DTW and DTW to ORD.In fact these details only helped us to make arrangements for pick up of my daughter at ORD airport to IIT campus by her seniors.

All these sequence of events made such a traumatic experience and bad impact on her that she took nearly a week time to come to normalcy.

Hence I request you to pay the compensation for the inconvenience she had been put and also the tension we have undergone here for almost 36 hours.Also I request you to arrange the compensation amount at Hyderabad KLM office only ,as my daughter will be busy in her studies and also I do not want to disturb her peace of mind further.

I hope my request will be honoured with due consideration and anticipate early reply from your esteemed airlines.
