Reimbursement of tickets purchased due to flight diversion

On 6 May 2025, my wife and I were booked to travel on Qatar Airways flight QR 731 from Qatar to Dallas. The flight was diverted to Houston, and no alternate connecting arrangement was provided by Qatar Airways to our final destination, Pittsburgh. As a result, we were compelled to purchase new tickets to Pittsburgh at our own expense, in addition to incurring conveyance charges. Hi, I booked the flight from Washington to Mumbai on Qatar Airways 3rd August 2024. returning back to Washington from Mumbai 5th September.
My experience with Qatar operations was horrible.
There were no communications of delays just kept on waiting at the airport. Boarding was expected to begin 8pm and there were no announcements of delays, All food restaurants at the airport began to close by 9pm. I was starving but did not go out as thought the flight was about to leave.When asked the Airport Desk Reps it was communicated 1 delay, it changed very hour, from 9 to 10, from 10pm to 11pm . 11:30 gate change and finally it was informed mignight that they will start boarding at 1:45am. I was going to miss my connection from DOHA TO MUMBAI. I was travelling to Mumbai to attend pray service for my brother who passed away at the age of 46yrs.
My back was in pain sitting at aimlessly no new, Flight was delayed more than 6hrs . It departed from IAD 3am. I had reached Airport 5:30pm. Just imagine time spent at the airport.
Then it was horrible at DOHA. The connection from DOHA to Mumbai was missed. Reached DOHA local time 10pm, was informed my Airport Qatar Reps that they will inform us about missed connection flights . My boarding pass and passport was taken and I was scared of loosing it. At first I was told there is 2am Indigo flight to Mumbai from Doha but it was all a mess at the airport. we were all passengers who missed connections were sitting at the transfer desks without our passports and clueless of next steps. My back was hurting bad and cell died due to low battery and i did not have universal connectors to charge to inform my family who was waiting at the airport to pick me . It took another 6 hrs at Doha Transfer desk to find solution and it was to fly out of DOHA the next business day. I got some hotel at 5am . I am very disappointed and do not want to fly my return journey on this ticket. But because one portion of this ticket is used I am not getting any support or further assistance. My family was worried for me as i had no communications to tell them where i was. I am suffering from low back pain injury, sat at DOHA transfer desk for more than 8 hrs to go to hotel and them fly from DOHA to Mumbai..This journey took 48hrs of travel time ..I missed the prayer service which was the main purpose too.     I have booked a flight from MAA to ATL Via Doha on 12 Mar 2024 with booking id: EMT[protected] from Ease My Trip with PNR: 5XX98T. On 14 Mar 2024, I have got 2 emails with first one mentioned as one of the sector DOH-ATL was cancelled by the Qatar Airlines and the next email was another flight been automatically rescheduled for the next day by the Qatar Airlines itself. I have called the customer care regarding the same. They confirmed that as there is no other alternate flight on the same day of departure, I am eligible for full refund. Based on their response, I have raised cancellation request from the easemytrip app 15 Mar 2024. The request has been submitted succesfully and later after 15 days, that is, on 01 Apr 2024; I have got an email revert from EaseMyTrip stating that the airlines had denied for the full refund. After seeing that email, I was literally shocked and called to EaseMyTrip customer care immediately.

    I explained the entire situation to the executive and he advised me again to raise the cancellation request and this time I would get the full refund within a maximum time frame of 72 hours. To my surprise, the issue was still in pending and refund is not issued from the EaseMyTrip. I really don't know who is playing with me whether the qatar airlines OR EaseMyTrip. As per the rules, if there is no alternate flight for the same day infact to say more than 6 hours; I am eligible for full refund. It's been a month already and yet I am totally vexed with EaseMyTrip support team. Hence I am approaching consumer forum so that I will get a resolution along with full refund in quick time.

      I have travelled from Toronto, Canada to Tehran, Iran. It was a 2-stop flight. When starting the flight from Toronto to London, it had more than 1 hour delay. For the second flight from London, UK to Duha, Qatar it had more than 2 hours delay. Because of these delays, I lost my last flight from Duha to Tehran, and I had to stay at Duha airport over the night. In this case, my 19 hours flight changed to more than 25 hours. This is disaster and I am not flying by Qatar Airways anymore. THIS AIRLINE IS NOT RECOMMENDED BECAUSE IT IS WASTING TIME, ENERGY, AND MONEY.

        We checked in our stroller when we traveled as part of Qatar airways . They lost the key part of the stroller which is the part where the baby is placed.

        The same new stroller costs 300$, but these guys are paying me only 223$. To top it all, they are claiming depreciation cost for an item which they lost

        Totally frustrated with the constant followup with these guys and looking for a resolution

          I was travelling with Qatar Airways on 8th Oct 2023 with my wife from Nagpur to Dublin. I am a Vegetarian person which mean I do not eat any kind of meat. Due to which I pre-ordered my meal for the flight which was "Asian Vegetarian Meal". During the flight from Doha to Dublin, crew member served me the snack(Chicken wrap) without even checking with me or official list of meal distribution. I ate 2 bites of it and then found that it was Chicken and not the meal which I pre-booked. I started feeling uneasy which was seen by there crew member and I asked for water and went to washroom. I have never ate meat in my life and I got really traumatized as in my religion we don't eat meat. I could be allergic to meat which I am not aware of as I never had meat in my life which could have put my life in danger. This was negligence from airline which could be very serious if that took my life.

          Qatar airways not working on this and just emailing me about apologies. Let have a thought what if Qatar airways CEO served with pork and how it will hurt his dietary needs and religious beliefs. Really pathetic service and no negotiation on there mistake.
          Still no reply or update by Qatar airways on this to me. Worst airline

            I am writing to let you know I left a small bag on a red seating area in the Doha airport on level 2 near gate 3 C The bag was a black pocket bag containing an Australian Licence and a yellow vacination card also a phone plug and charger along with a red folder from flight centre which contains personal information in this. also some other photos and papers and lozenges.
            I am desperate to get my property back .

            Time approx between 130 to 300am

              Dear Madam/ Sir
              We just had a wonderful family vacation to Switzerland, thanks to Qatar Airways flying from Nagpur. We wanted to take our three year old grandson, our son, daughter in law & her mother for a trip which was possible because of your airlines.
              Me & my husband, who reside at Nagpur have always been travelling Qatar from the time it has started operations from the city.
              I am a fashion designer & own a boutique in Nagpur for 25 years now. My husband is a army veteran & retired as a Colonel few years ago.
              On the night of 3rd June, we boarded the flight from Doha QR 590.
              A 22 was my seat number & my dil’s mother who was our guest was sitting on A24.
              Unfortunately the lady sitting in front of my daughter in law’s mother was reclining her seat to fullest continuously, which was fine as long as everyone was sitting or sleeping in the flight.
              When the food was served, as the practice is, it took some time for the air hostesses to clear the trays. The lady in front again reclined the seat to maximum & the food tray with remaining food & drink came flying on my daughter in law’s mother.
              As a reflex, involuntarily I protested in our local language to keep the chair straight.
              Her husband, who was sitting in our row also told her what had happened & said that the said chair was malfunctioning & was reclining way more then what it should.
              The lady & my daughter in law’s mother had a word, apologies were exchanged & matter ended amicably.
              Air hostess appeared & asked us what had happened, I told her that there was a problem in the chair & something should be done about it. Instead of listening to the complain about chair, she replied in a impolite manner that she is removing the tray & as a airline rule, she cannot ask a passenger not to recline.
              We all kept quite at her outburst considering it was so late in night & she must be tired after a hard day’s work.
              After some time a male steward appeared & stated asking around of who was using ’abusive language’ in the plane.
              Everyone kept quiet as nothing of that manner had happened. Fist he accused the young man sitting next to the said lady & then everyone sitting around her.
              When me & my husband tried to tell him about the malfunction chair, he was furious, rude & asked the lady & her husband if they wanted to call ‘authorities’ & press charges.
              They replied in negative & told him that it was a mistake on their part & matter is sorted out.
              Instead of accepting the answer, he kept shouting, that the said ‘senior citizen lady was ill treated & kept repeating the threats.
              Everyone around was quite surprised with his behaviour & tried to calm him down suspecting that he was dead drunk.
              We tried to point out that we all were ‘senior citizens’ & he should keep his tone down as my three year old grandson was sleeping in the back row. In response, he shouted that he ‘doesn’t care’ if the toddler was sleeping or would get disturbed due to ruckus he was creating.
              My son tried to reason with him, my 66year old husband also tried the same but to no evil.
              After the flight landed at Nagpur at 2.25 am on 4th June, when all passengers were disembarking, the steward stopped my son, spoke & walked very aggressively towards my daughter in law who was carrying the sleeping toddler When my son tried to intervene to protect his family, the he threatened him with dire circumstances. Threatened the staff who tried to intervene that he will ‘sort out’ everybody in Doha.
              It was a very surprising behaviour from the staff of award winning airlines like Qatar.
              I request you to look in to the matter, I believe there are cctv cameras in the flight. The crew, the pilot himself witnessed what went between my son & said rude staff.
              First incident report was filed by my son ( who himself is a commercial pilot license holder) picture of his pass port was taken, the relationship manager of Qatar also came at the baggage area & agreed to file a report against misbehaving crew.
              It was almost morning & after more than 10hours of journey, we left for home. Instead of having memories of great family holiday & our first with our grandson, we went home with disturbing thoughts of shouting, ill behaving, assaulting, drunk employee of Qatar airlines.
              I request you to look in to the matter & take suitable action as such people in your prestigious airline are a dampening factor to your otherwise sparkling reputation.

                I have made multiple attempts seeking assistance on below issue but no response from Qatar Airways please assist

                This is to bring to your notice that I had made Qatar airways ticket transaction of Rs.79168 through UPI, on April 6 2023 for the below two passengers but unfortunately the amount transaction was successful from bank end but Qatar airways payment page didn't respond so the ticket booking couldn't be done.

                Further checking with bank, the transaction was successful and seeking for
                Merchant confirmation stating non-receipt of funds.

                  I am writing to lodge a formal complaint regarding the delayed delivery of my checked baggage on flight QR528 from Doha to Chennai on February 23rd, 2023. Despite dropping off my baggage early at the counter in Doha, I did not receive any updates on the status of my baggage until the following day, which caused me significant inconvenience and distress.

                  The delay in delivering my baggage resulted in additional expenses as I had already arranged transportation to pick me up from the airport. I had to reschedule the pickup and incurred extra expenses due to the delay, which is unacceptable.

                  Moreover, I had to wait at the Chennai airport for an extended period of time, exceeding the travel time from Doha to Chennai, causing frustration and stress during my travel.

                  I would like to request a thorough investigation into this matter and a detailed explanation for the delay in delivering my baggage. Additionally, I would like to request appropriate compensation for the inconvenience caused, in line with the airline's policy for such situations.

                  I have attached a copy of my ticket and baggage claim form for your reference. I expect a prompt response to my complaint and request, and I am happy to provide any further information or clarification as necessary.

                      With reference to the above mentioned subject I would like to bring to your kind notice and needful action against the said employee who has been working in an international airport which has secured better place in across the world.
                      The employee has been working in the baggage section in the above mentioned cadre. It is absolutely necessary to inform you that the said persons obtained the said job by producing his study certificates and out of which his graduation certificate what he has produced before your authority is a fake one and upon enquiry with the University authorities the fact was came into the light.
                      I am herewith the providing all the details along with the copy of the provisional certificate and also the website link of the ANDHRA UNIVERSITY to verify the authenticity of the certificate. It is evident with the naked eye that the University will provide a unique register number as a reference and the said number will remain same in all the marks statement as well as in provisional certificate and Original Degree Certificate but in this case there are different register numbers were mentioned on the certificate. If your authority wants to investigate further into the matter. I am herewith providing all the details of the university.

                      if you verify the marks statement it is evident that there are different register numbers are printed on each marks statement and originally a unique register number must contain on the degree and marks statement and the said number should be the same on marks statement as well as on the ORIGINAL DEGREE CERTIFICATE...

                        UNSAFE COVID TRAVEL & POOR/ILLOGICAL CUSTOMER SERVICE
                        
I am very disappointed that Qatar offers no solutions for transit passengers on limited availbility long haul flights during the World cup.
                        We have gone to great expense to buy two return flights and specifically chose Qatar Airways as an award winning specifically covid safe flight who (supposedly) puts customer health needs first.
                        There are NO options to leave the airport if you are not visiting Qatar for the match, so transit passengers are basically prisoners in the airport!! I understand it is world cup and that is fine but there is no safe fresh air place for 14 hrs of transit in Doha airport (as confirmed in CHAT ‘help’) Thus a 26hrs total flight, one stop) to get fresh air DURING COVID TIMES is impossible and I have read several accounts that the airport lounges (which are min 60 Euros pp are overbooked and overcrowded) All the hotel rooms in airport are full.
                        I booked a room close to the airport but was requested to cancel since we do not have football tickets! or the world cup!! The chat support was not helpful at all. At the very least Qatar Airways should offer an option for a complimentary voucher or something for being able to freshen up and have accessibility to services. 
 We are already on a long flight before hand (26hrs flight with Qatar Airways 1 stop). The ‘economy’ ticket is Euro2500 (this is hardly a budget ticket) and it is disappointing that we have saved specially for this flight only to be disappointed by such poor and illogical service .

                        Some reasonable health conscientious amendments should be made or offer a solution for passengers that will be stuck in the airport (for more than 4hrs transit!!! - in this case 14hrs) and during covid times this is SIMPLY UNACCEPTABLE not to have access to fresh air or to only need to buy an expensive lounge ticket which is overcrowded - so what does that solve!!????
We are booking more than 6 weeks in advice for this so it is not last minute. 
What are passengers supposed to when there are no rooms in the airport available, you cannot leave the airport due to not having a football ticket!! and also no free services to freshen up unless paying for a crowded lounge!! Disappointing!!

                        I will escalate this to local and international health and safety and consumer rights complaints.
                        I have flown with Qatar several times and also been a client since 1997. This is hugely disappointing AND UNSAFE and I am appalled at the lack of forethought and preparation for your customers who may not only be visiting for the world cup or who need to wait in the airport for a long time.

                        I also wanted to add here that your twitter and chat support simply brushed me off and provided no concrete help or solutions, What is the point of service and help when none is offered or no logical solution given???

This is the last flight with this supposedly AWARD WINNING AIRLINE that could care less.

                          Hi this complain is against an employee who was on duty at Delhi international Airport on 18th sept 2022 at 11.30 pm for check in to delhi doha and doha miami flight. A guy who looked like a trainee, in turban( sardar in hindi) not sure of his name but I guess his name was jagjeet. He was very rude and didn't reply to any of our questions. The cabin luggage which I carried to 10 countries, according to him was bigger than cabin size and later on his senior told him no the size his ok. He wasted our 35 mins for check in. He made us throw our one cabin luggage coz of the size. When I was talking to him he kept on calling his senior Jessi, jassi sir. After flying from miami to doha to delhi I thought Qatar airways probably has THE BEST staff. Well behaved and very HELPful but my opinion changed after coming across this rude guy who didn't even think was necessary to reply to our questions or thank you. The worst guy ever for airline industry. Shame on that guy and the person who hired such an ill mannered, uneducated piece of ###.

                            My route to reach Baku was lhr to Doha turn Doha to Baku but my return flight was from emirates Baku to Doha then Doha to lhr. Kindly guide me through a written policy why I have been not allowed to board flight by your representative. I had an appointment for my visa at Lithuania embassy at Baku.After waiting for 6 months got this appointment but due to your inconvenience the appointment as been cancelled and I have to wait for my next appointment… whom should be considered responsible for my time waste and money waste on the non refundable return ticket ?

                              I traveled from benguluru to San Francisco via Doha on Sep 5th.My baggage has not arrived at SanFrancisco airport.Filed a report at the airport immediately on the same day .so far no update .it’s been two weeks.WhatsApp number given to talk to agent doesn’t work at all.I have some medicine and valuables that I need . Appreciate if this can be investigated.If we don’t hear in another week, we are going to take serious action on this matter.

                                Qatar claims in Website that *Excess baggage allowance is applicable only on flights marketed and operated by Qatar Airways.

                                I believe Qatar has a Code-Share with Alaska & they are marketing Alaska Seats .

                                Then why my 19yr Old Son, an aspiring Undrad Student was denied this priviledge at Kolkata Airport & asked to pay INR 19000/- . He suffered huge frustration & issues & ultimately left all his study books etc to manage the baggage. He has vowed not to fly Qatar ever again due to lack of transparency in information.

                                Also his luggage was not booked through to San Diego & have to re-Claim & re-chek in as SFO. Such harrasment.

                                I think QATAR should refund him ticket price & make good this harrasment.

                                We will make sure to put this in all forums so that future students dont face issues when they book tickets with Code-Share filghts.

                                  I have been waiting 10 months for this payment i was delayed going to bangkok from london in november 2021 i was stuck in doha for 24 hours qatar made a offer for this which i excepted but still nothing after 10 months why are qatar so bad with customer service

                                    I would like to complain about the service we received on the 28th of August 2022, from the ground staff at OR Tambo airport that resulted in us missing our flight.

                                    We where informed that the flight was closed, when we entered our flight was still open and there was no last call to close the flight however the family in front o[censored]s was let through. The lady then sent us to the end of the check in station (we had to go from A33 all the way to A90 and then across.

                                    We were subsequently told they could not help. We were then directed back to A33, the consultant was rude and unhelpful. All the while I am running with my little daughter trying to sort this out. We kept getting sent from one person to another and people were very unhelpful. Eventually we speak to a Manager who said he was the one that closed the flight and there is nothing he can do. We were on time for that flight. It had not left the terminal nor had there been a call to close and the ground staff was rude and unhelpful. All the while I am trying to get ahold of our travel agent so they can assist with the cancelation before the flight takes off. I spoke to Qatar but they could book me a flight a few hours later for R44 0000,

                                    We where flagged as a no show, even though we were there on time. Rebooking another flight is costing me extra money that I don't have Ticket number: 157-[protected], 157-[protected]. I could possibly loose the job that I was going to start as I won't make it on time

                                      Dear Concerned Authority,

                                      I booked a return ticket with Reference Number JW9GTZ on 14th December 2021 for travel from Newyork to Doha.
                                      The tickets were booked from my Privilege Member account for my wife and my son

                                      My wife and son travelled from Newyork to Doha on 18Th Dec 2021.The return travel was booked for Nov 3 2022.

                                      On 19th May 2022, I received email from Qatar Airways that the flight timing has changed and I have the option for either cancelling with full refund without any penalties or Change of Date.
                                      As I given the option for full refund, I choose this option. When I check from my end, I wasn’t given the option to cancel, so I called Qatar Airways Customer care and the representative assisted me for cancellation and I asked him more than 3 or 4 times if I will be receiving full refund. I was assured as per my email I will be receiving the full refund and there is no doubt on it. Kindly check my recorded voice messages with Qatar Airways Staff called from phone number on the day of the ticket cancellation.

                                      On 17th July I was refunded QAR 1820 (Bank Statement Attached) by Qatar Airways, which means I wasn’t given my full refund.I should be receiving around QAR 6000.

                                      This is a clear case of fraud and I would like to place a complaint for fraud from Qatar Airways.

                                      I opened a case regarding same on their website on July 17th itself.

                                      There is no action until now from Qatar Airways.They have all my details and still they sent me unwanted emails asking me to send the booking reference and all those.They don’t have a proper mechanism even to address my complaints.

                                      Kindly take an action against Qatar Airways and please protect the rights of Customers like me.

                                      Trusting them I cancelled the ticket and booked a new ticket for QAR 12000.

                                      I have been calling them for issuing me full refund for past 1 month but no proper action from them until now.

                                      People like me have no other way to fight for justice other than through Concerned Authorities which we believe will protect our rights
