Dear Sir,

I'm Mani, staying in Medavakkam. The EB office for my area is Pallikarranai-Medavakkam EB office. Last week due to heavy wind there was a short circuit in the post and the wire got cut with fire sparks at around evening 3.30pm. We called the EB office (Ph.No[protected] and reported that there was wire cut in our area, but in EB office they were saying our line man is on the way till 8.50pm. Then the line man came at 9.00pm then they spotted that a tree is resting on the current wire thats why short circuit happened and wire got cut.

They promised that tomorrow we will come and change the wire fully for now we will join the wire so that you will get current supply for now. We agreed for that since there was a drizzle, our street people agreed to temporarily join the wire.

It's been more than 10 days the EB people never turned up here for getting the wire replaced. Every time if EB has been called they are saying "OK. We will look after the issue."

2nd issue is: There are many streets in the area where I stay. Only for the last 4 streets there is frequent current cut and the EB people will respond as if they are king and we are slaves.

We reqeust you to look into the both the matter very seriously and make our lives smooth.

Note: Due to short circuit on that day around 10 television sets got damaged.And due to frequent current cuts there is severe damage for those who use computers and more importantly those who take tutions for small childrens.

people and the government are rediculus and they dont care about people because they are government servent.i am aurely thinking that i wont vote anymore in future election.
Hi Sir,

This is the complaint for the low voltage power supply at Medavakkam.

We reside near Medavakam EB office. We are phasing low voltage problem for every summer during the month of April to July during the nigh time it is very worst. We are sleepless at whole night after returning from work We are depressed can't able to sleep for a single night, We afraid to run our home appliances such as Fridge, washing machine. Evan fan is not running properly. I have requested E and AE for several times regarding this issue, But as of now it is not resolved.So I am declaring the complaint in the public forum.

I am sharing due to we are resistant near to EB office and We are phasing such a problem even a fan is running properly thats the main concern. We are not looking for the AC to run but a basic thing fan is not running this shows the worst/poor service of Tamil Nadu Electricity Board.
I'm staying in Sowmya Nagar. For the past 10 days there is often power cut and worst power fluctuations. This is happening in only Sowmya Nagar 9th Street and 10th Street. People over here complained a lot of times but is in vain. Particularly there is no power on night times which is causing lack of sleep. We can tolerate to limit but there are babies and children in our area who a re suffering a lot. They don't care about our locality people, also to.mwntion night time they take the phone receiver out so when ever we call we get busy reply
We are staying swmiya nagar 11th street, there is no current in whole night with out any reason, even try to call electric department it says busy busy, what a ridiculous people around here. These are ####### bugs ruining our countries reputational damage.
This is the complaint for the low voltage power supply and frequent power cut at Medavakkam.

    I have registered for the Power Failure with cable Fault at my home located at Koya Arunagiri Street,Royapettah,Chennai.It is not rectified neither addressed by TNEB so far.

    iam residing at 290 thiruvalluvar street alwarthirunagar chennai 87.we are facing the low voltage and in night time power fluctuation even sunday day time itself power fluctuation.normal we are getting 160 to 180 volts. in night time totally bad 110 to 130 volts is coming. how can we sleep in house. fridge, ac and even fan is also not running.we are complaint many times to e.b office also. they are simply saying ur street is the last connection from the old transformer. there is a service cable fault. we are not recevied the new cable. then only power problem will be solved.past 1 year they are saying the same new cable not received. without service cable how the e.b office are running i don't know.here in our street more than 60 familys are their. we suffering from past 1 year e.b. problem not rectified.where is the service cable manufaturer are their we don't know.e.b people should inform to higher officials and get the new service cable this is procedure. but they are not following properly. in our valsaravakkam E.b office some time they are saying we are going to put the new transformer for ur street .some time they are saying ur street is the last connection from the old transformer. there is a service cable fault. we are not recevied the new cable. then only power problem will be solved.both the things are not done for the past 1 year.whats going on E.b office valsaravakkam we don't know.If they like i want to inform M.P. or M.L.A .then only e.b problem will be solved in our street . then iam ready to inform M.P and M.L.A both the persons are well known to me. they are my family person. with in a week e.b problem should be solved in our street whether they are changing the new servive cable or they are installing the new transformer what ever should be done.e.b problem should be solved. otherwise i will tell to our M.P and M.L.A immdly.kindly solve the e.b problem in our street immdly.

    WHEN I ASKED ON TNEB VALASARAVAKKAM THEY SAID
    NOTE : this statement is given by employer of TNEB

    Summer is already taking its toll on the Tamil Nadu Electricity Board (TNEB). Hobbled by a serious power shortage, the board now faces shortages of electrical components and materials in the city section offices.
    TNEB employees who are not supplied with the required cables and other equipment to rectify faults say they even have to take money from consumers to procure the materials required.
    Apart from meters, the board has 10, 000 km of low tension (LT) cables and at least 8, 000 km of high tension (HT) lines. At least 70 per cent o[censored]nderground cables in Chennai are very old and around three to five faults are reported in each section every day.
    TNEB employees say the LT and HT cables are often damaged when other departments like Metro Water or Chennai Telephones dig the roads to lay cables.
    "As summer has already begun we get more than five cable fault complaints in each section every day. Our seniors say we should ensure that there are no complaints. How is that possible when the cables are too old? The management is not supporting us with the necessary materials, " a TNEB employee complained.
    The board usually purchases 1, 000 to 2, 000 tonnes of insulation compounds every year which are used to replace LT cable joints. Every section is also supposed to maintain a stock of 10 metres of 120 sq mm and 240sq mm cables every day. "We haven't had any stock at all for the past few months. We are helpless. When we get complaints, we take money from the consumer and buy cables from local electrical shops and do the repairs."
    For instance, many commercial outlets in T Nagar are drawing power through direct connection due to meter faults. A senior employee of TNEB said around 40 meters in T. Nagar have been due for replacement for the past six months but have not been replaced as there short supply from the board to the section offices.
    When this newspaper contacted TNEB regarding shortage of materials, a senior official said, "There is no shortage of materials and TNEB ensures that the materials required are purchased on time. We maintain stocks of cables, insulation compounds and meters.”


    WHY THE TNEB DOING LIKE THIS WE DON'T KNOW?
    TRY TO SOLVE OUR STREET SERVICE CABLE PROBLEM IMMDLY OR OTHERWISE TRY TO PUT THE TRANSFORMER IMMDLY.OTHERWISE IT WILL BE TAKEN TO SERIOUSLY FOR THE NEXT STAGE. SOLVE THE PROBLEM IMMDLY.

      Hi.I am a resident of Rajakilpakkam, Chennai. i have started constructing a house and in this regard i have applied for a single phase connection on september 7. Till now i have not got meter and they are citing that there is a scarcity of meters around tamil nadu.

      The officials are not in a position to let me know about the arrival of meters. When the central govt. is giving thrust on infrastructure development, TNEB is not even in a position to supply meters. How will the country grow in such a situation?

      I have applied for a single phase connection in the site of our residential construction at Medavakkam on 8.9.09 and I am yet to get the connection. Whenever I enquire they cite scarcity of meters as the reason.

      It is high time the Government of Tamilnadu take cognizance of this serious issue and ensure normalcy is restored.

      When the central Government is so focussed on 6% growth such laxity can have adverse effect in construction activities and resultant growth.

      Will the 'Tamilnadu Electricity Board' and the Minister for electricity take heed and resolve it?

        One transformer was failure for past 45 days, it is located at west street lane last, Thiruppurambiyam village, Kumbakonam Taluk, Thanjavur District, PIN 612 303. It was reported to the EB authoriteis like JE, ADE, DE in many times through many formers like in person and phone. NO RESPONSE. So many acres paddy, sugar cane spoiled with out watter. Kindly take necssary action and save the formers.

        It is hereby brought to your attention that the voltage flow in the location mentioned above has been extremely fluctuating / dropping down to 140 Volt very frequently quite for a few months probably due to
        1. Load of consumption exceeding beyond limit due to use of heavy machinery under the transformer section by any consumer / industrial operation
        2. Faulty existing transformer under operation

        Apart from drop in brightness of lights,
        1. Valuable household appliances like Washing machine, kitchen machines, Air conditioners go unusable beside posing the threat of falling in disrepair
        2. Television entertainment of households are affected
        3. Any equipment running on electricity is facing the threat of being damaged due to low electricity

        Your immediate investigation is hereby sought for an early restoration.

Near tamarind tree branches touched with street main lines(5 lines) hindering my house service completely stopped electricity and one week back already informed with Local Area Junior Engineer, TNEB until this moment zero actions.Just now electricity come and go so that 6 tube lights completely fussed at once.

        Very poor performance in Tamil nadu electricity board.no one is take action and also not answer properly. Only looking salary end of the months

          Frequent Low Voltage and Power Cuts

          Sir,
          I reside at No.16, First Cross Street, Vijayanagar, Velachery, Chennai - 600042. We are having frequent random power cuts as well as low voltage problems. i run a computer centre at the above mentioned place. as a result of the frequent power problems, my equipment including UPS goes off. inspite of repeated complaints to the Electricity board, they are not rectifying the problem. nowadays they dont even bother giving us...

          I AM SARAVANAKUMAR K, FROM COIMBATORE. I PURCHASE 1.5CENT PATTA LAND (TAMIL NADU GOVT GIVEN) AND BUILD A ASPECT SHEET HOUSE WITH HOLLOW BLOCK. MY TOTAL LAND AREA ONLY (1.50 x 436 Sq.Ft = 654 Sq.Ft ONLY). I AM LIVING WITHOUT EB CONNECTION FROM DECEMBER 2008 TO TILL DATE (17/09/2009).

          BUT TAMILNADU GOVERNMENT WAS ORDERED THAT WITHOUT BUILDING APPROVAL EB CANNOT GIVE NEW EB CONNECTION TO THE USER. FINE RULE.... BUT THINK BEFORE GIVEN ORDER TO EB.

          BECAUSE, THEY GIVEN PATTA BOOMI TO ALL LOW CLASS PEOPLE WHO HAVE NOT ENOGH MONEY THEY ALL RECEIVED FREE VACANT LAND FROM GOVERNMENT ALL ARE LIKE 1-2 CENTS (ie. 436-900 Sq.Ft). BUT ORDER GIVEN FOR BELOW 1000 Sq.Ft NO EB CONNECTION. WHAT A WOUNDERFUL ORDER?

          ONE MORE THINK.... EB CONNECTION WITHOUT BUILDING PLAN.... WHAT A ANOTHER CHECK POINT TO PEOPLE.... THEY ARE PURCHASE ONLY BELOW 1000 Sq.Ft. BUILDING PLAN AUTHORITY WANTS MINIMUM 3 Cents FOR BUILDING PLAN APPROVAL...

          FIRST CLASS GOVERNMENT... I AM REALLY IRRETATE THIS ... MY FAMILY ARE LIVING IN THE DARKNESS.(IN THE SAME LIKE ME MANY MORE PEOPLES MORE THAN 20000 LIVING WITHOUT EB CONNECTION IN COIMBATORE)

          WHO TAKE THE STEP IN THIS REGARD.

          IF YOU KNOW PLEASE GIVE THE GUIDELINE TO ME.

          I WROTE SEVERAL PETITION TO TNEB. THEY GIVE ONLY THE REASON... NOT A SOLUTION... I & MANY PEOPLES WANT SOLUTION.... WHO GIVE?????????

          Sir, I have an approved plot in Kovaipudur, Coimbatore. There is a 35 ft road which has been handed over to the govt in 2010. I have applied for electricity connection for starting construction of a house for which the plan is submitted to the Coimbatore Corporation.There are two agricultural electricity connections nearby but the owners refused to give NOC. The electricity has to be provided to me by putting three poles from nearby colony, so the Divisional Engineer has asked me to pay Rupees Sixty One Thousand, the cost of providing connection.             I am residing at manavala nager, sembakkam and i want to report power problem in this area because of VERY VERY low voltage. Here during night time the voltage drops considerably, its below 150 volts, because of this fan is running very verly slowly during night time, (i,e) after 8 pm, and AC is not at all running. One cause i could see for this power shortage is non presence of transformers anywhere in sembakkam or kamarajapuram area, i couldnt see even a single transformer, but new lines are given at increased rate. The problem is goin to worsen in future, unless somebody pushes the TNEB to install transformers

            I am residing in Nanmagalam were from day start to day end there is low voltage and we have one old transformer which has not been replace but increase in day today residence.

            If any senior official views the number of call received at the complaint center 155333 ours will be on a highest side.

              I Mr. Ravichandran had already paid the past bills for the bill month 11-2008 to 01-2009 and the same bill copy can be submitted upon your request.

              it seems your dta base not yet updated with the correct records and hence it has been displayed as due and hence we have raised this.

              Request you to updat the data displayt at your bill records, S.C. No.[protected]

              Due to the above reason your staff denied taking the current month payements and hence we are unable to pay the bill amounts.

              I request you to take the necessary actio and do the needful.

              I paid my eb bill payment on 25.02.2010 via online net banking through axis bank.The bill amount 1730 was debited from my account.But my eb bill was not updated till now.sir i request you kindly obledge the needfull.My transaction ID is 15717472

                I am Vasudevan V residing at 1/36, Vellalar St., 83 Thandalam, Chennai - 602101. The electric meter in my house became faulty and when TNEB was informed, they did not replace the meter immediately. Mr.Satyanarayanan (A.E., TNEB,Pallavaram) is demanding bribe for the same.
                This has become a regular problem as he is constantly harassing me for the bribe. Request your help to resolve this.

                We have given complaint to TNEB regularly and i have send the Complaint by web site also regarding the Low voltage power supply in our house SC No:[protected] at vellacherry. This was about morethan 4 years nobody has taken corrective action and Web site i want to make complaint its also not accepting the same. Pease dot he needful.
                Dear Sir,

                I am residing at 15, Jayammal street, Aminjikarai, Chennai-600029. Last month our neighbour Mr. K.G. Vasudevan had our common electricity area meter changed and collected from each occupant Rs.200/- each x 8 = Rs.1600/- citing payment made to TNEB personnel for the change of this Meter.

                I wish to know if indeed we need to pay for replacement of meters and if Mr. K.G. Vasudevan was right in collecting from all eight members residing at above address?

                I also wish to state this new meter is faulty and stuck at 16 units and understand from Mr. K.G. Vasudevan, residing in Flat A, that he had contacted TNEB and they are awaiting stock of new meters upon which they will replace. This is now a month old and our common area meter is yet to be replaced.

                Kindly do the needful.

                  I am a resident of sithalapakkam, when i went to medavakkam to pay my bill i was forced to wait for 3 hrs to pay the bill ........bcoz eventhough there are 6 counters only two counters are funtioning.When i asked the bill collector about this they are telling to give a complaint........... one more thing is that eventhough the working hours are starting from 8.30 am the officials are coming only at 9.00 am.

                    I reside in Mohd.Hussain Street, Royapettah and the power went off at 5 am early in the morning. Contacted the local complaint at 28480110 & 28481001, every time they are noting the number newly and there was no response.

                    At 10 am contacted even the AD and no use.

                    It is 1 pm now and I registered the complaint with headquarters call centre at 155533.

                    Hoping for the power to restore.

                    Getting annoyed why I need to pay EB bills

                      I have been running my computer business in Poonamallee high road, Aminjikarai, Chennai - 29 and I am facing acute power shortage and fluctuation for the past one month and I couldn't run my business properly and all my customers went down the drain.                         Respected sir,

                        I am Srinivasan Ganapathy residing at No.4 Kambar Street,Srinivasanagar,New Perungalathur,Chennai-600063.Our house electricity bill reading was taken today afternoon(August 31 2009).The actual reading in our metre was 15580 units but the reading the TNEB authority entered was 15640.The difference is 60 units and it was charged wrongly.This is a pure negligence of work. Please take action against the official.

                        Till 15 th no one came for EB office to take reading.I went EB office and spent three hours to update EB reading and confimred from EB official i can pay bill through online. When i checked thorugh online it says meter reading is not updated. When i called EB office they said i have to come personly to pay the bill..

                          I am Barath, 2/21, 1st Cross St., Kamaraj Nagar, Ernavoor, Chennai - 57.
                          Last month one day at midnight powercut occured. In the morning we came to know that NEUTRAL is missing and we booked a complaint to the Department through phone and also inperson too. 2 men came at 5 pm and given the line by overhead from the nearby pillar with the wire given by us. Upto date nobody has come and demanding Rs.1000 for doing the work. We called through phone many times and 4 to 5 times inperson too.
                          India's No.1 corrupted department is the TNEB. From top to bottom each and every one is demanding bribe.Very bad and very shame.
                          Note : for name transfer they are asking Rs.2500 for a single connection.

                            Dear Sir,

                            Im residing at SaiNagar, Thoraipakkam.As my bill generate everymonth firstweek and payment duedate is 17th of everymonth.Till last month i made all payments offline.This tim i registered to the TNEB site and tried to make a payment.It's showing only INR40.00 rupees to pay, it's not updated acutal payment.So, i requested and sent two mails to the tneb, i didnot got any response.At last i made payment of 40, to avoid any late payment charges.After that visited the TNEB office to enquire the same.They are telling we cannot do anything in this, wait for next two months and pay all the money at once.By this i need to pay more than the actual as the unit rate will increase.How can i responsible for this.Even much before the paymnet date i sent mail(7th of August and 18th August) to the tneb to correct the information.Eventhough they know it's there mistake, they dont want to accept it nor they want to correct it.They are behaving rudely and saying me to pay after two months.If that is the case i need to pay more beacuse of higher units.Please help me in this regard.

                              We are resident of Anna Nagar West Extension.

                              Yesterday night (17th Aug 09) at about 10.00 pm the power at the residence was out. We complained to the local EB and about 10.30 two persons ( line men )came in a van and said the cable needs to be replaced. Asked us to provide 20 meters of wire. They have also removed the fuse with the pretext that we may have return shock. They have come without any equipment and even with out a torch.

                              To day morning, on 18th Aug 09 the same people came and said we need to get 20 meters of wire at Rs.100 /- per meter . They would repair the connections. Otherwise, we have to wait for another 5 - to 7 days without power. They simply left the place without doing anything.

                              We are forced to pay the EB men to get the power . A sum of Rs.2000/- towards the wire. No arguments

                              We regret to mention the plight of gullible is really pathetic. We thought of bringing this to your notice and necessary action.

                              We are tenants of about 10 families are staying #68/40 bharathipuram main street, shenoy nagar, ch-30. Our house owner Mr.Venkatesan was charged Rs.4 per unit for the past 5 yrs, but suddently, he asked us from aug'10 onwards Rs.6 per unit. We feel its too heavily chargable. We had discussed about this charge to him. He harshly reply that the government is charged highly that's why I charged this amount. If you feel its the charge is high, you can immediately vacate the house. We are all middle family, we don't know where to complain and moreover we are not in position to bare the huge amount. So. Please The Tamilnadu government do something regarding series issue. We awaiting the reply from the government or any well wisher.

                                Energy Meter Not Working

                                I am Thanigaivel, residing at G1 Sai Sarvath, Plot No: 19 Krishna Nagar, (Behind Kovilambakkam Telephone exchange) Nanmangalam, Chennai 117.

                                The energy meter installed for our service number:[protected] is not working properly from the month of April 09. I have given a written complaint at Electricity Board office in Keelkattalai in the month of June. Still no action has been taken for the complaint.

We have given complaint letter to the respective EB office. After one month also no action taken yet.We all suffering bad.                                   We live in Venkateswara Nagar, 19th Street, Kottivakkam. We have severe power supply problem in this area. There is so much voltage fluctuation every night and hours of continuous powercut. It happens every day and especially when people want to retire to bed, the power goes off around Nine Pm and contnues till midnight. Also sever voltage fluctuations. Every day complaints are being lodged and the authorities are not taking any action. WE were told that there is going to be another transformer going to be installed in this area to take the load and distribute the load. But it has not happened. Every body including old people, newborn, school going children are all suffering with the inefficient operation of TNEB of this area.

                                  Someone take positive action and solve this problem.

                                  House — Power Fluctuation and Power Cut

                                  My Name is P.Balakrishnan residing in Velachery, Chennai. We are facing the problem with Tamilnanu electricity boad. We are facing the problem that Power fluctuation and power cut in daily basis. They cut the power daily in the evening and Mid nights. How can we live with out power espicialy in night and summer. Also we having 2month old baby. Every time we call in phone they didnot attend the call. They pick up phone only after 20th time of calling and they answered we dont know when the power will be back. It will come in another one hour or 4 hour we dont know excatly like that they said. We already registered the complaints in Electrical depatment. But nobady short out this issue. Still continueing the same problem daily.

                                  I am residing in 11/12-3, Kalathiappa street, choolai, Chennai and since 6 years I have never received 3 phase current for my colony (rishabh Colony). We are suffering huge loss due to power fluctuation..

                                  ex:

                                  1. All our tubelights get bursted dude to power fluctuations
                                  2. We meet up power cut in every 3 days since the AC of the colony is on..
                                  3. The only feedback Electric board gives is there is a cable fault..

                                  I am wondering when are you gouys going to sort this out.. despite giving repeated complaints.

                                  I too reside in lakshmi apartments, kottivakkam. The power supply is abysmal.Voltage fluctuates so much that tube lights do not work, fans rotate at varying speeds, electronic equipment malfunction.A transformer was to be set up and a concrete scaffolding was put up 5 years ago but there has been no follow up action.
                                  We have erratic telephone and broadband functioning also !!

                                  We are experiencing continuous electric fluctuation resulting in stoppage of lift operation, electronic equipments viz air conditioners, TV, bulbs etc konking off. Please look into this and fix up the problem asap.
                                  I am staying in Swaminathan Nagar, Kottivakkam. We were facing severe power supply problem in this area for the last 5 days .                                   Kottivakkam has got EB staffs who are good for nothing.They shut down power when there are showers and they forget to turn it on.They are good for sleeping at their night shift.
                                  I agree completely! I've had a place in Sri Venkateshwara Nagar in Kottivakkam for the last 3 years. Not only are the roads terrible (I've had to change tires due to severe wear and tear just driving on rubble), they get flooded with the smallest of showers and the power situation is terrible. We have power cuts all the time and the voltage fluctuation has destroyed some of our home appliances.
                                  I am residing kalathumathu 3rd street. I too agree the above said problem. We also face same problem everyday. It should be taken care by TNEB and expecting Govt. reaction towards these problems..
                                  Ever since cyclone Thane, our SriVenkateshwara nagar has been experiencing voltage fluctuations. It has been particularly bad from last night. The Kottivakkam sub station is a large building with but it does not have a telephone connection. I guess the people working there are not interested in even receiving complaints, let alone attending to them.
                                  We are staring the Service apartment in Natco Colony, Kottivakkam. We were facing severe power supply problem in this area for the last 10 days. This Low Voltage problem with severe Power fluctuations happens around 9 PM and continues till midnight. Everyday complaints are being registered, but no action taken by Authority till today. We are suffering a lot due to this. In summer season that to (in a horrible place in our country) like chennai, it’s very difficult to manage this kind of problems.

                                  We are paying more than 25000 in electric bill every two month, but this problem happen my customers this month end vacate. How to compromise my customers please do some solution otherwise vacate the building. Let us know give permanent solution.

                                  I am residing at E-527, 23rd cross street, Thiruvalluar Nagar, Thiruvanmiur. My house is rental and has only 1 phase available. For the past 2 days we faced horrible electricity fluctuations. Yesterday night the supply went down @2:15 am IST and I spoke to the person in power stationr @02:30 am IST informing him that one of the phase went down on which we actually connected. I waited until 3:00 am IST, and then logged a complaint on the 155333 and the complaint number was 0291 (dated 05th June 2013). Nothing happened hence called the substation against and got informed that all 3 phases are up and running and the problem might be in the electric board in my house. This is not true as I was physically waiting for the foreman to arrive and resolve the issue and no-one turned up. Then I went to the power station and found all the staffs were in deep sleep and no one responded to the call. Finally I called back 155333 @04:00 am IST and the customer care executive confirmed that someone would come in person for sure. Later one of the Foreman came to check the pillar box next to my house @04:45 IST. When enquired the fault was actually on the pillar next to house and took seconds for him to fix the issue.

                                  I am very much frustrated on the attitude and the service when respective people are very much available and making us to juggle all over for nearly 2.5 hrs without any support. I have a baby to take care and it was very pathetic situation yesterday.

                                  I request the authorities (JE/AE) to consider this seriously and address them appropriately. - Raja.

                                    TNEB is getting cursed for their lethargic activities in case of power cuts.In addition they cut the power without any prior information.All the above the employees enjoy un-interrupted power and the cost per unit is very low for them.They live in A/C and let us die in hot sun.Please have some responsibility and behave like a government official.We don't use the power for free.Give us good service with good quality.
