Dear Sir

This is to bring to your notice that there has been very high billing in the month of Set'09.The gross amount is Rs 1600 inspite of the fact that there was no AC usage.My average bill is maxm Rs 1200 BUT THE MAIN PROBLEM IS THAT THE AMOUNT HAS BEEN BILLED WITHOUT ANY LAST METER READING. THIS IS TANTAMOUNT TO CHEATING & COLLECTING EXCESS AMOUNT BEFORE PUJAS.

I request you to correct the situation immediately. All mails to Mr. Samajpati (Of CESC are not being replied to)

    THIS IS IN REGARDS TO THE DOMESTIC ELECTRIC METER OF OURS BEARING THE CONSUMER NO. [protected], IN THE NAME OF MY UNCLE SRI MONORANJAN ROY, WHO IS AGED AND AILING AT PRESENT. HE HAS EXPRESSED HIS DESIRE TO CHANGE HIS OWNERSHIP AND TRANSFER IT IN MY DAUGHTER'S NAME Sm. SABARMATI ROY. TO THIS EFFECT, I HAD PUT IN THE ORIGINAL APPLICATION OF SRI MONORANJAN ROY, DATED 14.11.2006, WILLING TO GET HIS NAME TRANSFERRED, ALONG WITH ALL THE NECESSARY FORMS DULY FILLED UP TO OUR CESC SOUTH WEST REGIONAL OFFICE, P-18, TARATOLLA ROAD, KOLKATA-700088, WHICH WAS DOCKETED FIRST ON 23/11/06 WITH THE SERIAL NO. 030418. DUE TO SOME MYSTERIOUS REASONS, NO ACTION WAS TAKEN. I THEN MADE AN INTERNET COMPLAIN TO CESC ON 25/02/08 AND THE DOCKET NO. GIVEN WAS LT/10/12080, AFTER THAT I RECEIVED A PHONE CALL FROM VICTORIA HOUSE ON 09/04/08, ASKING ME TO DEPOSIT THE PAPERS AGAIN. I HAD COLLECTED ANOTHER SET OF FORMS AND SUBMITTED THE SAME ALONG WITH THE APPLICATION OF MY UNCLE TO THE SAID OFFICE, WHICH WAS AGAIN DOCKETED BY THEM ON 15/03/08, WITH THE SERIAL NO. 053248. I HAD SENT MY REPRESENTATIVE SEVERAL TIMES AND WENT THERE PERSONALLY AND MET Mr. SUBIR MAZUMDAR AT COUNTER NO.13. HIS BEHAVIOR WAS NOT EXACTLY CORDIAL AND I WAS ASKED TO WAIT FOR A FEW MONTHS AS HIS VERSION WAS THAT IT TAKES SEVERAL MONTHS TO GET THE NAME CHANGED AS IT IS A COMPLICATED AFFAIR. I DECIDED TO WAIT BUT TILL TODAY NOTHING FRUITFUL HAS OCCURED.     Domestic — Change of ownership

    Sir,
    We have recently found out that our electric connection is registered under someone else's name.As we are NRI's we were unaware of this fault which they say occured during computerisation of records, a few months ago through outsourcing.We found this faulty consumer name only recently when we came down for our vacation.We consulted the electricity board of our locality to rectify the fault.The officials of the office have asked for lengthy procedures(electrical circuit diagram of our house, ownership certificate, land tax etc) and expenses for the change of the ownership to our name.These documents and expenses have already been submitted during the initial registration of our electricity connection(Single phase) and later during upgradation to three phase.They also claim to have none of the above said submitted documents or details of our original registration.
    So i kindly request you to help us with the procedures required to rectify the above mentioned error as soon as possible as we will be here only for short period of time.
    IT IS THE NORMAL BEHAVIOUR OF THE CESC 'S GOOD OFFICERS.

    I had a similar problem, in transferring the meter (Consumer No. [protected]) from the earlier owner to my name for my newly acquired flat at Bally.

    Phoning the Howrah Regional office nos. 26661667, 26666014, or 26669199 is of no avail, as no one ever picks up the phone, even during office hours.
    Sending someone to their regional office at Howrah also did not prove useful, especially for an old, retired person like me, in spite of all the bills having been cleared to date.

    Question : Why can't CESC computerize the whole procedure, as it has in so many other services, and work out simple procedures like downloading forms, uploading documents etc., in keeping with similar modern procedures elsewhere ? Or is it still stuck with outdated, customer-unfriendly legacies of the past ?

    HIKE IN ELECTRICITY BILL

    We are found that the main supply from CESE connection is not proper. Your main supply show 200 volt supply instead of 220 volt. Which is the cause to hike electricity bill. Please rectify it.

        Meter Box is broken

        Regarding the Consumer Number: [protected] I lodged a complain 2 weeks ago (appx) at the CESC . I wrote the complain as:

        “Meter box jutted out from the wall.
        Meter condition is horrible (about to break).
        Please come & repair this.
        Thank you.”

        For this complain I got a Docket Number : LT/41/19046

        As I was not getting any response from CESC so I lodge the same...

        For the last two months from the date of complain we are observing frequient flactuation of voltage & most importaint of all THE PHASE FAILURE for the power supply provided to us by CESC Ltd .
        We intimated their help desk - 1912 a several occation & received many docket nos of different dates against cosumer nos - [protected] of santanu das & -[protected] of kaberi paul but the serious desire of solving the problem is very much missing ;
        we are very much skeptical regarding the POWER FACTOR of the supplied power and extrimely worried about the fate of our costly & essential household electrical equipments .
        Pl. note even a 40 watt fluroscent lamp fails to glow due to this si
        tuation.WE expect immediate solution and most essentially a PHASE CHANGE OVER . This complain is also made on behalf of other consumers provided with the same phase .

          SIR,
          WITH DUE RESPECT I HAVE THE HONOUR TO SUBMIT THAT WE THE INHABITANTS OF 46/9 BROJO NATH LAHIRI LANE, SANTRAGACHI, HOWRAH, PIN 711104 ARE VERY MUCH IN TROUBLE FOR SUPPLY OF LOW VOLTAGE SPECIALLY AT NIGHT AND IT IS TOO DEFICULT TO SLEEP AT NIGHT. I HAVE LODGED VARIOUS COMPLAINTS BEFORE THE HEAD OFFICE OF THE AFORESAID COMPANY.BUT TO NO GOOD.
          THE ELECTRONIC GADGETS OF MY HOUSE ARE ALSO BEING DAMAGED FOR SUPPLY OF LOW VOLTAGE. THE BULBS ARE NOT GLOWING TO ITS FULL STRENGTH BUT I HAD TO PAY THE ELECTRIC BILLS REGULARLY BUT I THINK THAT NO COMPANY HAS THE RIGHT TO REALISE THE VALUE WICH IS NOT BEING SUPPLIED AT PAR REGULATION.             Hello.

            After the recent cyclone AILA, we all know that theres acute power shortage accross the city...but in my locality which is SATGRAM HOUSING, near Behala Bakultala...there is power at everyone's place, excepting a phase including our home.

            Now, we have tried to call the much advertised helpline of CESC, 1912, a call center run by IBM DAKSH, at Rajarhat DLF Building..by the name of BIJLI. Now they have happily cut off all their lines...no matter whatever the way you try, you just cannot reach them...

            NOW MY QUESTION IS ...WHATS THE USE OF A HELPLINE NUMBER...IF IT CANT HELP U IN CRISIS ? THE AGENTS ARE NOT TRAINED TO TAKE CALLS...They will give you DOCKET numbers against ur complaints, which would never be traced !! Isnt that FUNNY !!!

            My father is not keeping well !! theres no water at our place...foods getting perished...but they are just not bothered !!! Bloody CESC and its staff !! They do not have a back up...nothing called CRISIS MANAGEMENT...If someone who is reading this scoop...then please do raise it as an alarm...we need a replacement for CESC...they are good for nothing !

              suddenly increase bill amount more than double
              my consumer no-[protected], as per your records my consumption units in month of feburary is 64 units and suddenly it increase in month of march 151 units, and after seeing that consumptions i reduce my consumption but again in month of april consumption units shows 173 units.So plz i am not understanding the reason of increasing the units of consumptions, i am living in a rented house, and the owner of house has lots of meter so plz check it carefully and oblige to avoid the high slab.Thanking you,

              My consumer no. [protected]. This month bill is Rs. 9910/- which is quite impossible. Plese describe me.
              i am totally agreed with the gentleman...my situation is more weird than anybody.i have rented a flat in silpara, kolkata where i have not shifted yet, as i would stay there in regularity from this november...since theres no consumption of electricity..to my greatest and weirdest surprise they have sent a bill near about 1500rs and did the same in the month of october.i am helpless, i dont know what to do...?from august to this october my meter shows a consumption of near about 5 units or so..for which i have to pay nearly 3000/-...that means cesc is charging Rs600/unit!!

              CESC — increase bill amount more than double

              For last year, I got increase in bill month by month hence consumption is same or reducing after
              seeing bill figure. But after several complaint,we hadn’t got any action taken agnst the complain.
              Now satuation goes up unacceptable and unavoidable because in month of August,09 unit is 176
              and in September,09 this is 249 units. Meter reading is also showing as in bill.
              Therefore you are requist to investigate the reason and solve in favoure of customer.
              No more satuation to pay bill like that.

              Sub : Discrepancy in my Electricity Bill Consumer no - [protected]

              This regarding my earlier Mail dated 9th Nov'2009 for the Discrepancy in my Electricity Bill Consumer no - [protected].In this regards I like to thank you for your prompt action. On 15th Nov;2009 one of your representative visited my premisses and examined my Energy Meter. According to him Energy meter is not functioning properly as a result my Monthly Electricity Bill is getting inflated.I was informed that the faulty Meter would be replaced and descripancy in Bill would be resolved at the earliest possible time.
              But this is till dateunfortunate to inform you that no action yet been taken in order to resolve this isssue. My this month (Oct'2009) Bill for an amount of Rs2080/= also appears very much in higher side.
              Kindly look into it and take appropriate action without any delay.

              My consumer no-[protected], as per your records my consumption units in month of September 2009 is 256 units (Meter Reading was 18442) and suddenly it increase in month of October 384 units (Meter Reading is 18826). I have checked the meter today i.e. on 01/12/09 and reading is 18763. I don't know how it is possible one month before reading was 18826. please look in to the matter and solve my problem immediatly. Due date of my electric bill is 1.12.09. I hope you you will treat this urgently basis.

              It's surprising to note that no action from CESC end in connection to the problems. I don't know about the others. Neither I came to know about registration of my complain nor, any action from the local end. My bills are comming at inflated, rather abnormally high, amount.

              This is my third reminder. Looks like this is a simple blog where consumers only give their complains and vent off their frustration.

              Please go to http://www.cescltd.com/ and post your complaints as a consumer. They have a very prompt ticketing system. For example I posted the complaints online. Within 30 minutes I reveived a call from them and they arranged for checking the meter to find out the cause of the inflated bills. This is a forum and not a hastle free consumer court where somebody can just post their complaints and wait for somebody to fix it for them for free. I[censored] guys have issues then do buzz the right people for an answer.
              Dear sir,

              I have three meters in my premises no- 25, Masjid Bari lane, Baranagar, Kolkata-700036.Name of the holders, consumer nos & Meters nos are furnished below.

              1. Dilip Kumar Basu [protected](con no[protected]m.no)

              2 Rita Basu * [protected](do[protected]do)
              *(Though there is A.C Provision is made in the meter by you as applied by us in middle of last year but we have not yet installed air condition machine till date.. We have decided not to install air conditioner machine at present.)

              3. Birendra Nath Basu [protected](con. no[protected]m.no)

              But we are observing that we have to pay a huge amount in the Meter of Rita Basu.. We are not using the first floor where the meter connection is made other than the Pump connection fir supply of water.

              We have not paid any electrical charge for the month January & February as all the 6 Bills have come to us with a comments "Please Do not pay this bill. We have received 3 bills amounting together Rs1800/-.The amount of each bill is segregated below:
              Mrs. Rita Bose Rs.1200/-
              Sri Birendra Nath Bose Rs.540/-
              Sri Dilip Kr Basu Rs.120/-

              It trans-pared to us the bill amount of Rita Bose is much excessed. It is going on from the middle of the last year as and when from air condition machine (A.C.)provision was made.We have not yet installed A.C machine probable may not be install at all.

              Viewed in the context above, If provision of A.C in the meter of Rita Bose increase the billing amount, I request you to arrange to withdraw the A.c provision immediately and also arrange to refund the excess amount taken if any.

              I shall look forward for your early compliance in the matter.

                This is to inform you that we all facing severe problem form yesterday morning (11 a.m) at Belur, Howrah area. We have complained numerious times in the number which CESC people has spread all over the city 1912, also in the regional office. But no action has been taken from their side. We have student of Engineering at our home whose examination is going on, also there are several old people in our area who are suffering a lot due to this irresponsibility of the CESC authority.

                Dear CESC team,

                This is with reference to Complaint no. 0518765, lodged on May 26, 2009.

                There is no power at 12 A/3 Priyanath Chakraborty Lane, Bonhooghly, Kolkata 700035 CESC line pole no. 63/3/1 for more than 30 hours now.

                In fact, prior to the above mentioned complaint, on May 25, 2009 at 2.30 p.m. we lodged another complain with CESC complaint cell over phone through 1912 (complaint no. 0516126) for the same reason.

                But irrespective of lodging two complaints over a period of two days time, no one from CESC Limited has visited my premise, neither the power has come. It seems that CESC is less bothered about the difficulties faced by someone, which is caused by this continuous power cut of over 30 hours now.

                A quick action to resolve the serious problem would be much appreciated. I would at least expect CESC to respond back, and inform us when can we expect the situation to get over.

                My consumer No is [protected] & L.P. 207/50/15/0/3. We are facing tremendous power cut for the last 3 months. Apart from normal power cut our phase of 4 to 5 houses in our locality is facing frequent power cut specially in the mid night. Yesterday ( 17.06.2009 ) there was a normal power cut in our New Garia Co Operative at 6.30 PM. Power restored in the locality at 9 PM but our phase was out of power up to 3 AM in the night. This we have faced on 15.06.2009, 16.06.2009 and so many other mid nights. Our Phase specially goes out of power in the mid night. We do call 1912 without any result. Power comes in its usual time but this power failure repeates in the next day for a few houses. This has become a perinniel problem.
                In the day time we have tried to call your mandivelle office for this perrinel problem in these numbers : 24406470, 24406916. The lady operators are very relutcant to talk or to listen to our problem. In most of the cases they do not pick up the telephone. Or by chance if they pick up the telephone, during the conversation they disconnect the line in between.
                So it is a request to you to save us from this problem in the future. Otherwise, change our phase.

                CESC — Powercut

                Our office is located in Stephen House Kolkata - 700 001 area where we have a critical problem. Here there is a regular power cut for 3-4 hours in peak office hours which hampers a lot of offices work. We therefore request you to kindly take action against this issue.

                First. The load shedding on 22 sep from 10.45 am till 2.30 pm and continuing. No body is picking up phone no 1912. More to agony is the atteitude of cesc official who are not ready to help . Secondly, bills are coming on the higher side inspite of cut on consumption and during the tenure of power failure during may june . ON a common parlance, it should be understood that out of 24 hrs, if load shedding is for 7-8 hrs and conumption has gone low, how can u run away giving a bull statement that - we have checked your bill and found all things correct . Such a irresponsible act and monopoly in electricity has brought such temprament to cesc. Central govt should withdraw and take either full control or partial stake in cesc ltd to but things in place and understand the problem of common men. Things not done fast, will certainly result in mass aggetation and govt will face the music.

                There is no power at 177, RAMESH DUTTA STREET, Kolkata 70006 on the meter of Consumer no. [protected] & [protected] since September 21, 2010 from 11am onwards.

                There had been a power cut in my area for more than 2 hours now. I lodged a complaint with CESC at [protected]. The customer supper person gave me a complain number and said a technical team will come, check and fix the problem within one hour. After waiting for more than 2 hours I called back to check the status. One of the customer service person named Debjani ill behaved and refused to pass on any information. Another person named Priyanka, said they do not have any information apart from what the automated system tells them.

                Is the customer service people are always unable to give any proper information, then what is the use of keeping one such department at all?

                CESC — street lights are not lighting

                    For easy payment of monthly bill sent by CESC I opened CRES a/c with them and replenish it with fresh deposits.
                    In last October 2008 I made a deposit of Rs 10K by cheque on local bank which was debited next day in my account. Surprisingly, in the quarterly statement sent from TCS on behalf of CESC, they gave credit of the said amount after 6 days depriving of interest.
                    The matter was brought to the notice of CESC and TCS authorities without any result.
                    This is not the first case. In 2004 I deposited Rs 10K in CRES a/c with CESC but Rs 4K was returned as excess deposit after 3 months without paying any interest on the refunded amount.
                    CESC being a monopoly supplier charges arrear amount on all revisions but I find they are reluctant to pay consumers' legitimate due and senior citizens like me cannot do anything to recover.

                        I am to submit a number of facts for your kind consideration:
                        the billing for the months of February, 2010, March2010 and April 2010 in favour of Consumer No. [protected] of 317, Unique Park, Behala, Kolkata-34 (Chhabi Joardar, deceased) showed a serious discrepancy .
                        The meter reading in the bill of month of February ends as 8855 units( billed amount nil), and the meter reading in the bill of March 2010 ends as 9035 units generating an amount of rs. 530/-.( Though actual reading in the meter shows 8864 unit on the day of receipt of the bill of March).
                        Surprisingly, in the bill of month of April 2010, the consumed unit starts as 8864 unit as recorded by us and ends as 8869 unit generating an amount of Rs.44/- (which has been a normal trend of billed amount for the last nine months as we occasionally visit the place for some personal reasons and use the electrical gadgets)with no declaration of wrong posting in the last bill or any sign of adjustment.

                        At the outset it is our earnest plea to you to look into the matter. your earliest action is solicited as you have all data stored in your website regarding all consumers.

                            Each and every day The Calcutta Electric Supply Corporation (India) Ltd or CESC is unable to provide electricity which is one of the most basic needs in todays world. Since the past 1 month seldom has a day been passed without power cuts or "load sheddings" in Calcutta. Getting continuous power supply for 24*7 has become a dream for Kolkata.Each and every day there are power cuts and when consumers calls up the help line number that is 1912 they are been given wrong information.

                            Today at 11:54 am power supply went off in my area(Pin-700006).When i called up 1912 they told me that it is an ordinary load shedding and the power will be restored within 1 hour(complaint no[protected].When 1 hour passed and then also power supply was not restored I again called up the helpline and asked for the supervisor.Mr Bhajan Paul(Floor manager) took my call and informed me that during the load shedding a fault has happened so it will take longer for the power to be restored, which in any way is impossible as faults happen when power supply is on and not when it is off.Then I called up "Canal"(No-[protected]) the depot of my area as per them there was a High tension fault and power can not be restored before 8 hours and even the local police station is also having supply off.But as soon as I informed that power supply is on in the Police Station they disconnected the call and restored the power supply within 5 mins.

                            My grievance is if there are no real faults and no power deficits then why these meaningless Power cuts are happening.More over as per Cesc site each and every year their profit margins are in crores of rupees.So why cant they buy power from other Power grid corporations during peak hours and maintain the supply, rather than doing power cuts where the common people suffer the most.

                            The monopoly services provided by the goenka's- run and owned kolkata electric supply company CESC is equally rotten as the state government functionng which has given them the free hand to run the company as mismanaged as possible.It is perfect example of the danger of allowing private sector to run monopoly companies supplying essential services.The Goenka's in their greed increase the prices of the electricity even for filmsiest reasons while give a service to the kolkata metropolitican area in a shoddy way.We need competition in this segment too with discipline.The other solution is eviction of the goenka's from the management of CESC.
                            The Marwari mafia should now start counting their days in Bengal.
                            The monopoly service provided by Goenka with the help of the State Government should be removed

                            As my complain dt 12 sept2009 no Lt/55/21045 regarding fault of line due to over load in single phase during in the summer its a regular problem facing by us since last 3 years.Yesterday at night fault is occur due to whole night, we suffer without electricity and also the final examination of our children is going on. The complain no is 065254 & 065260 and we suffer at night from 11.3 pm to 6.3 pm

                              New Connection

                              Dear Sir,
                              I applied for new connection on 6.2.09, reference no 14/[protected], but after the inspection is over by the Calcutta Electric Supply Team, inspite of having sufficient space, i got a letter that it is not possible to provide connection as there are no sufficient space in my flat . Now i am chasing them for the last one month . Can you please help me in this regard.
                              I will be greatful if you kindly assist me in this...

                              As per your represntative come to my office, and request me for fill up the corporate card which you start recently.after few days i ve got a sms ref no 1737331 through my cell phone on 20 01 2009, that you aconolaged my application, but still to day i ve 'nt recive any msg from your bank .

                                High electricity bill

                                Since last 3 months I am receiving very high electricity bill from CESC Kolkata.Actually we are using 2 fans & 2 Tube lights but the Electic bills are coming above 700/month which is very much high than what it should be.
                                I have a doubt in my mind that either Electric Metre is not working properly or someone is doing Electric theft from our metre as we are unable to check what exactly happening because the metres are locked in...
