My luggage was couriered from US to India on 14th Jan. I mailed Fedex letter to customs to change 42% duty wrongly applied to personal luggage nominal duty.
I have been mailing, calling them since 15th December (since 2 weeks) to process this and let me have my luggage but I get NO RESPONSE.
I am attaching each detail of the incidents to show how irresponsible and casual FedEx India is and shall be banned.

Here is a sequence o[censored]nanswered mails and calls I made to Fedex staff.
- 14 Dec- I got a call from Manoj Kumar saying that my duty is approx 19k (courier category) and in order to apply duty of personal luggage I have to write a mail. He said that he will mail me the address to which I have to write the mail.
I received the following mail from him-
As discussed with you on phone, Personal baggage are not allowed to clear in courier mode. So kindly provide a letter stating the reason and request customs to allow the TP permission from courier to cargo mode.

This did not contain the address to which I have to send the letter (from the call it seemed like I had to directly mail it to the customs department) or by when it shall be sent.
15 Dec- Call from Delhi Fedex to me asking whether the bag should pass customs. I was surprised that communication with Manoj was not passed to the team. I clarified that a different duty has to be applied since this is personal luggage, hence luggage shall not pass the customs.
- 16 Dec- I sent him a mail asking which address to mail it on.
I got an automated mail saying that he is out of office and I should mail at

-16 Dec- I sent a mail to Prakash explaining the situation. No response from him
-17 Dec- I call the helpline saying that I am not getting a response from either Manoj or Prakash. they shared another id- Gaurav.[protected]@fedex.com and clarified that the letter has to be sent to him and they will forward it to customs
- 18 Dec- Mail to Prakash. I sent the letter to customs with passport, visa, flight and college termination letter. No response from him. (Attached in the mail)
-18 Dec- mail to Gaurav Hora. I sent the letter to customs with passport, visa, flight and college termination letter. No response from him. I got no response.
-18 Dec- I filed a complaint at Fedex helpline number (was taken by Aditi).
-21 Dec- I sent a follow up mail to Gaurav Hora. Got no response.
-21 Dec- I sent a mail to Manoj asking is he is back in office
-21 Dec- Response from Manoj- Shipment has been cleared from customs, For delivery kindly contact our customer service on[protected]/[protected] or [protected]@fedex.com
The shipment was cleared by him (or another team member) when it was clear and informed on first call on 15 Dec that different duty will be applied.
-21 Dec- I sent him my letter to custom.
He sent me 2 mails without any text/ mail body. I requested him to call me. No call back. I called his direct number Direct No-[protected] (mentioned in his mail) which was busy the first 2 times and after that he didn't pick up, it went unanswered.
-23 Dec- I called to check on the progress of my complaint. COMPLAINT WAS NOT FILED YET. I repeated the complaint and it was then filed. I told that I am travelling on Monday for a month and have to pick my luggage this week. I was assured that this will be resolved by the next day and is put under urgent category. But got no response on it after that.
-24 Dec- I got a call from Mumbai Fedex- Mamta and she asked why I hadn't picked the luggage yet from Faridabad Fedex. She didn't know that there was a complaint filed. And assured that she will take this up.
-25 Dec- I called the fedex helpline and was told that Mamta is handling the case and shall respond tomorrow.
Got a call from Fedex Faridabad twice during this time (don't remember the exact dates) asking me to pick up the luggage. They were unaware of the situation and out of the loop.
-26 Dec- Called Helpline number was answered by Mridula and was promised a call back but did not receive a call.
- 26 dec- Wrote a mail to mamta.[protected]@fedex.com and [protected]@Fedex.com stating these events but no response.
-28 Dec- I gave 2 reminders on mail to mamta.[protected]@fedex.com and [protected]@Fedex.com
-28 Dec- I got a vague response from Shatruddha Yadav | Customer Care Representative, India | FedEx Express from [protected]@india.com email ID saying that they have prioritized the complaint which was already in pririty category. Again a vague message.
Twitter is flooded with similar complaints against FedEx India and it shall be banned.
I took time out to gather the mail and call records and write this sequence o[censored]nanswered calls and mails because
- my complaint and luggage are not taken seriously since 14 Dec
- Although I paid for faster service, my luggage is still not with me
- The fedex employees don't bother to respond to the customer's mails
- Wrong duty luggage was irresponsibly passed through customs knowing that duty has to be changed
- People responsible for this horrible, casual service should be reprimanded so that other customers don't have to go through this. It should be looked into as to why my mails to Manoj, Pankaj and Gaurav, Mamta were never responded to.
I tried to be patient with all these people all throughout but after almost 2 weeks of constantly following up without any response, I had to bring this to your light.
My request-
-I pick up the luggage TODAY (28 Dec) from Fedex Faridabad. I cannot pick it even a day later since I need the luggage for the 1 month trip I am going. (please understand the severity of the case even though it seems like it is not your top company values)
- I pay no duty or any further charge and I get refunded the extra 10k (approx) I paid as India Fedex charges, as compensation for the delay caused to receive my luggage and stress, anxiety and agitation caused due to the exceptionally bad experience with Fedex and as a courtesy.
FedEx customer support has been notified about the posted complaint.
