Hi,

Kindly find below the Credit Card grievance.I had already talked to customer care in the month of June in Pune who had agreed to reverse the card charges and cancel the card. The customer care executive names are Abid and Deepak.
I have not been receiving any card statements there after which proved that the card was cancelled.

Kindly look into this matter with high priority else I will be forced to log a complaint in the consumer forum and the RBI site for the harassment which is done.

Thanks,
Smita Rao.

Hi,

I have received a new HSBC card([protected]) even when I didnt ask for.The card had some initial annual charges.Even when I didnt want a new HSBC card then too the card was sent down to me and now the customer care are harassing me for paying the due amount for the card charges which has incremented to some 6000rs.I havent used the card a single time for making any of my payments.

Please cancel the card and revert all the charges else i will have to log a complaint in the consumer forum for the harassment.

A girl called preeti from Delhi call center called me and spoke to me in unprofessional manner. If the customer care does not have the mannerism to talk kindly give them the appropriate training before recruitment.

If such things keep on continuing I will be forced to log a complaint against HSBC in the Consumer Guidance forum.
Kindly take a strict action against this.

Thanks,
Smita Rao.

    Hello,

When I was working in Satyam, HSBC approached me and after all the address check sent me a credit card. Apart from this card, even without asking for any card they again sent another card which I never activated. When I called up the back they said its free for life time.

After 3 years, a person from HSBC called up and said there is an amount of Rs.8500 pending on my card and that the card is also blocked (By then I was working in Accenture). So, I asked him for what transaction this amount is charges for that he said it as ANNUAL FEE CHARGE!.

I was perplexed and asked him, why you did not intimate me that the card is a chargeble card for that he said it became chargable after 2 years. Again I asked him why there was no intimation about it from their end for which they have no answer.

Further now these people are forcing me to pay for it and also they say that they can give discount o[censored]p-to 60%.

Initially I was appreciating HSBC for their service but now after this experience I advice others not to go for HSBC cards any more because this bank is of highly cheating and they try to get money from customers by sending cards even though not asked for and charge annual fees without intimation.

My advice is all corporate people should wake up and re-consider their view o[censored]sing HSBC cards anymore. This is one of the worst ever banks I have ever seen.

    With Regards,

    GOPINATH
This same incident happened to me in the last two days. I don't know how to handle this situation. Any suggestions.

My brother, who held credit card accounts with HSBC, died this October and I notified the bank about it the very next day; asking to block all his cards and also that all the balances/ accounts would be cleared once I get hold of the Death Certificate (DC) from the respective Government body (which takes atleast a month in India). But the bank's executives/ collection agents didn't understand a single word I said to them and have been repeatedly calling me every day asking for my dead brother.

I don't expect HSBC to grieve with me at my loss, but what I expected, from a bank that holds such an eminent reputation, was that they'll treat this case with a little bit of altruism and sensitivity. My brother had accounts with other esteemed banks and once I notified them about the situation they haven't harassed me and have been very understanding, unlike HSBC bank.

And what's even worse is that they have all the information updated on their system.. it's just that their executives are lazyasses and don't want to check the accounts before making the call. As such it's difficult for a family who have lost their loved one, on top of that there are such banks as HSBC, which won't spare a chance to SCRATCH YOUR WOUNDS and let you live in peace...

      SHAME ON YOU !!!
HSBC is the worst bank one can ever see. More over, in India there is no accountability for any firm of the way they do business. Even if you go to court also their stand is like this - if an individual could go to a court whatelse a bank can not do?

As our courts and law enforcement sucks, its better to be away from any such banks and organizations. The pathetic thing is Indians working there do dis-service to fellow Indians. Aren't we our worst enemies?

        Dear Sir,

I have HSBC credit card. I had done some purchases around a month back. I dont use credit cards very often. I did not receive any credit card statement whatsoever and when I tried to call the customer care for enquiring about the amount due they dont provide me because I am not through their cumbersome and overly sophisticated verification system. After I provide all my personal information and then they start asking me information like what is the credit limit of your card, what is the amount of last two transactions etc. When I say them that I dont remember these information they tell me that verification process is incomplete and they cannot provide me any information.

Added to this they do not have any email id where I can formally send an email asking them to reveal my amount due information. There is no way I am able to convey them the frustation I am through. Tomorrow after several months if they come back with huge amount that I need to pay then whose fault is it. Definitely not mine!

Is this the new tactics adopted by HSBC to churn out money from its customers? I am frustated by the kind of services provided by HSBC and therefore I recommend no one become a customer for this bank.

        Thanks,
        Roshan

I WAS HOLDING HSBC CLASSIC CREDIT CARD NO.[protected] AND USED IT FOR SOME YEARS TILL SEPTEMBER 2009. THE COMPANY WAS CHARGING ANNUAL PRIMARY CARD MEMBEERSHIP FEE OF RS.700/-. THEREFORE I DECIDED TO DISCONTIUE WITH THE CREDIT CARD PROVIDED BY THE BANK AS THE FACILITY WAS PROVIDED BY MANY OTHER BANKS WITHOUT CHARGING ANY ANNUAL MEMBERSHIP FEE. ACCORDINGLY I CLEARED ALL THE OUTSTANDING CREDIT BALANCE WITH HSBC AMOUNTING TO RS.24439 THROUGH SBI CHEQUE NO.966347 DATED 26/09/2009. THE HSBC BANK CONTINUED TO SEND CREDIT CARD STATEMENT SHOWING RS.700 AS ANNUAL PRIMARY MEMBERSHIP FEE. THEY ALSO CONTACTED ME OVER PHONE (ONE NITIN) SEAVERAL TIMES REQUESTING ME TO MAKE THE PAYMENT. I MADE IT CLEAR EVERY TIME THAT I AM NO LONGER INTERESTED IN USING THEIR CARD (WHICH I HAD CUT INTO PIECES) AS I AM GETTING THE FACILITY FREE FROM OTHER BANKS. HOWEVER THE HSBC BANK IS CONTINUOUSLY SENDING ME CREDIT CARD STATEMENTS SHOWING TOTAL PURCHASE OUTSTANDING AS ON 19 OCTOBER 2009 AS RS.5105.10.

IN THE ABOVE PREMISES I WANT THAT THE BANK SHOULD PROVIDE WITH THE STATEMENTS FROM OCTOBER-NOVEMBER 2008 ONWARDS TO SUBSTANTIATE THEIR CLAIM THAT I HAVE EVER USED THEIR CREDIT CARD TO MAKE ANY TRANSACTIONS. IF IT IS NOT PROVIDED WITHIN A PERIOD OF 20 DAYS FROM THE DATE OF THIS COMPLAINT I SHALL BE BOUND TO TAKE FURTHER NECESSARY ACTION UNDER THE LAW.

HSBC Credit Card — wrong outstanding

              sir
HSBC credit card (No-[protected]) was issued to me in July'05 when a HSBC representative visited to my office. At the time of issuing I was told that this card was free of charges.

              I NEVER USED this card.

The card was cancelled in Aug'06 by the bank.

To cancell the card I cut the it into four pieces and dropped it into HSBC drop box in Oct'06.

In Sep'08 I received a call from the bank to pay Rs. 14000.00 as outstanging.

I contacted customer care who also confermed that this card was NEVER USED, and they are unable to tell the reason for outstanging.

Kindly look into the matter and zerorise the amount wrongly debited against me.

Hope this massage will solve my problems.

I am in receipt of your monthly statement of account of credit card

Showing total payment due as Rs 15159.63 whereas undersigned is suppose

                To repay last (12th) EMI of Rs 7120 of loan (Principal-Rs 80000 + Interest – Rs5440

                i.e 2nd November 2009.

In spite of my writing 9 reminders you have not settled the issue and again

Have shown excess payment of Rs 8039.63,which undersigned is not paying as

Legally I am not suppose to pay .

                REMINDER-9

                Dear Customer Service Executive

I am in receipt of your reply to my Reminder-8 and I have gone through the contents of your mail.

I once again repeat for the sake of clarity that I have availed your loan offer for INR 800000 in

12 installments of INR 7120 ( This includes interest component of INR 5440. First of all I had never

Applied for a Platinum card , my gold card was upgraded to platinum card & at the time of conversion

I was told that EMI’s of loan amount will be converted to the Platinum card . I fail to understand

Why & with whose permission it has been converted into a single Transaction – How can you arbitrarily

Do so without the consent of customer ? I do not buy this arbitrary decision taken by you when you

Have charged intrest for 12 EMI’s . You have committed a mistake therefore , you take the corrective action.

I had never accepted the(SLOP) of 3 months offer given to me , you think customers are fools ?

They will repay the loan of 12 months EMI’s in 3 months EMI’s by paying intrest for 12 months.

I am repaying EMI’s of INR 7120 , 7 EMI’s I have already paid & remaining 5 will also be paid on due dates.

In my monthly statements you are charging interest on over due Etc etc. in spite of my follow up

Nothing seems to have moved at your end.

I am pained to know how customer are treated by you . I work for a company where customer satisfaction in

Above anything & we have got JD Power first prize for customer satisfaction

Finally I am advising you to set right the things failing which I will be compelled to resort to legal course

                Of action .

                Hope good sense will prevail

I regret to inform you that in spite of sending 7 reminders and personal follow-ups with your customer care representative the matter stands unresolved as on date.

I am in receipt of your statement for the period 11th April, 2009 to 10th May, 2009 showing the total payment due of Rs. 45,891.41 wherein finance charges, service tax etc. etc., have been charged.

Finally you may note that I had taken a loan of Rs. 80000/- in 12 EMIs of Rs. 7120/- each works out to Rs. 85440/- (Rs. 80000 + Rs. 5440/- interest part). REMINDER-6

                Customer Service Incharge

Further to my Reminder-5 , I have received Card statement Showing a debit balance of INR 67744.79.

I am not only shocked but equally concerned how customers are being dealt by HSBC . I am trying to

Settle the issue by paying all legitimate dues , perhaps this is being taken as my weakness . In my last

Five reminders I have very clearly mentioned my grievance by giving all facts & figures – I regret to note

That no one has even bothered to read & provide help .

I am making last attempt to make you understand issue pending as on date :

1- I took loan of INR 80000 to be repaid in 12 EMI’s of INR 7120 (INR 85440 in 12 months)

                2- I have paid 4 EMI’s of INR 7120 last being on 1st FEB 2009, therefore , I have repaid total

                amount of INR28480 leaving a balance of INR56960 .

3- In card statement a debit balance of INR65195.75 is shown whereas it should be INR 56960.

4- Loan of INR80000 was given in 12 EMI’s & intrest for 12 months has been charged in EMI’s

On what account Finance charges of INR 2268.48 and Service tax of INR280.38 has been charged ?

I want to clarify once again that I have to repay INR 56960 in 8 EMI’s of INR7120 & not a penny more.

Therefore for the last time I am advising you to rectify mistake at your end and confirm the status to

The undersigned, failing which I shall take the matter to Grivance cell & claim damages for harassment.

Please reply to enable me to take further course of action.

                Yours Sincerely

This has reference to my previous mails on this subject (attached below for your reference)
None of the issues raised by me have been responded in any of you mail, perhaps you have
conveyed what you had to without even reading my mails.
I am pained to know a Bank of your stature treats its customers the way I am being treated .
Any now , I am once again advising you to look into the grivances raised by me & if you are
not in frame of mind to understand PLEASE consult you superiors for advise .
To summarise I put forward the following brief for sorting out the issues at your end :-

                1) Please note out standing amount on INR80000 loan works out to INR 64080
after adjustment of 3 instalments paid by the undersigned by due dates .This has been agreed by
You & I have recd a statement of account of My previous Gold Card showing
Total loan outstanding as INR 64080.I fail to understand as to how an amount of INR79262.19
has been shown as Outstanding Debit in my Platinum Card Statement . You need to check & confirm
the above to the under signed immediately.
                2) Therefore , I am supposed to pay 4th EMI of INR 7120 by 2nd February , which I agree to pay and
Thereafter remaining 8 instalments on monthly basis-this is what was agreed while accepting this loan of
                INR80000.
                3) In addition to 4th EMI of INR7120 , I am required to pay INR15161.92 towards puchases after adjustment of
INR117.06CR . Hence total payment to be made by the undersigned works out to INR 222 81.92 by 2nd Feb 2009.

Please confirm the above as I have not recieved revised Platinum Card satatement ,in order to deposit INR 22281.92
by 2nd Feb 09.I am running out of patience therefore, I request you to please make the necessary corrections at your
end by transferring the correct amount from Gold card to Platinum Card.Incase you are not in position to do so please
let me know sothat I can resort to other available options.

                Yours Sincerely

                  Dear Sir/Madam,

Please note that I was holding a HSBC Credit Card - [protected] & there was a disputed amount of Rs.673 for which I did not do the payment. Details of the same is attached in the letter sent to HSBC by me on 09/07/07. Please refer the attached letter.

I got a transfer from Chennai & stopped using the HSBC Credit Card & sent the same back to HSBC. After discussing with Ms. Tanya on Helpline I paid the balance amount of Rs 1186. And closed the matter.

Now recently I applied for a loan & my credit history with CIBIL show that I am having a disputed amount of Rs 9936 with HSBC. Since, I was in a hurry to avail the loan I contacted HSBC & paid a sum of Rs. 9936 to HSBC Credit Card. I had to use the countelfile of the payment for getting my loan approved.

Now when I am contacting HSBC then there response is unbelivably IRRESPONSIBLE. Even after series of emails they have not even cared to give a call back.

The Principal amount has been wrongly charged the whole balance amount is wrongly charged.

I request "Consumer complaints" to take this case strongly with HSBC. HSBC bank is literally playing with the institutions like CIBIL and after all, us consumers are the sufferers.

My argument here is that even if the total principal to be paid by me was Rs. 1794 (as claimed by the bank) which are also wrongly charged, why should I pay Rs. 9936. All this time HSBC never mad e single attempt to get in touch with me, either over phone or email or address.

Always in such disputes the bank takes the initiative to settle the matter. Never ever the consumer is made to pay the full outstanding. A 'settlement amlount' is finalised & that only has to be paid. But. here when I took the initiative to close the matter, the Bank's response is extremely Harsh, Irresponsible & does not show a response of a professional body.

I hereby request for a immediate settlement of the following 2 matters.

                  1. Refund of the amount of money Rs9936 - Rs673 = Rs. 9263, immediately.
                  2. A Clearance Letter immediately clearing my name from CIBIL.

This is a long pending issue and I request for immediate settlement.

                  Thanks with Regards

                    Dear sir,

I was on the payroll of Dell International Hitec City Madhavpur, Hyderabad from 08th March 04 to 07th May 06. I contributed towards my EPF as per the rule. My EPF no with Dell International was KN/24960/9534. Thereafter I joined HSBC Banjara Hills, Hyderabad on 08th May 06. My EPF no with HSBC Hyderabad is AP/37897/17941. I had requested for transfer of my EPF from Dell to HSBC in May 06. I have not yet received any confirmation regarding transfer of my EPF from your office.

On a personal enquiry from EPF office Hyderabad in August 09 I was told that there has not been any transfer from your office to Hyderabad office and the same is not reflecting in my statement of EPF account. I had sent my representative to the Bangalore office and he was told that an amount of Rs. 8278/- has been transferred on the 25th of December 06 vide cheque no. 127503. However he was also told that the amount transferred is incorrect and it should be more than Rs.30,000/- My personal records show that I had contributed around Rs.18500, the company also must have contributed as per the rules. Therefore the amount should have been more than Rs.30000.

I have been corresponding with the Bangalore office by emails/ telephone/ registered letter in the past but there has been no response. May I request you to kindly look into the matter and transfer the correct amount to my HSBC account no AP/37897/17941. I will appreciate if the things could be sorted out at the earliest since it is long outstanding.

                    Thanking you.

                    Yours sincerely,

                        Dear Sirs,

I used to operate an HSBC credit card bearing number [protected] till the month of Nov 07.
In Nov of 2007,against a total outstanding of Rs 105000/-(one lakh and five thousand only) on my card I had called an HSBC officer to ask him close my card as I was in the process of a transfer from Kolkotta to chennai. For this I had asked if I close the entire amount, what will be the discount on this closure.
The HSBC officer asked me to make a total payment of Rs 90000/-(ninety thousand only) and this will ensure the account will be settled as closed. He also assure me a letter will be sent from HSBC against the cheque realisation as this was the process.
I thus made a payment through an ICICI cheque for Rs 90000/- in Nov 09 & was waiting for the settlement letter. To my surprise in about two weeks I recvd a call from some phone banking officer saying why I wanted to close the card. When I stated the reason & asked him about the settlement letter,he said the amount was 92000/- for final settlement & not Rs 90000/- & asked me to make a payment for Rs 2000/- as final settlement.
Fully believing, I made a cheque payment on ICICI for Rs 2000/- after which there was no phone call,no settlement letter or no any news.In between Dec 07 & July 08 there was no news from any body on this. Then again in July 08,I recvd a statement showing that my outstanding was Rs 19706/- & the bank asked me to make immidaite payment.
On calling the bank & against my naration of what I was told, the officer said there was no closure done on my account & this payment must be done.I told him that the card was destroyed by me & was not in use since November 2007 so why should I pay any more. This harasment kept happening over the months. In Dec 2008 when the phone came from HSBC,I told them I will be going to court to complain this issue for which so phone officer from Delhi called up saying the legal way will take a long time, please pay Rs 5000/- & we will immidiately give the closure to this account.
I guess this time again the bank fooled me and collected Rs 5000/- from me saying in a receipt as Final settlement.
But even to this day the bank is still calling me & harrasing me on this.It is about time I am going for a Complaint with the "consumer forum" as well as the police ainst the FRAUD HSBC BANK.
Please allow me to introduce myself my name is Michael Mason-Mahon and I am a shareholder of HSBC Plc. I am based in London.
I was in Mumbai in September where I had a meeting with the CEO of HSBC to raise my concerns about the way HSBC was treating its customers.
I am going to ask the RBI TO DO A FULL INVESTIGATION into HSBC India.
For me to do this I need people that are willing to send their complaints to me and to allow me to forward their complaints, not only to the Board of Directors of HSBC Holdings Plc also to the Governor, Dr. D Subbarao and Shriv.K.Sharma, Executive Director of the Reserve Bank of India to investigate HSBC India as evidence to support the way that (and this is my personal belief) the Bank has breached the Code of Banks Commitment to Customers.

Please help me to help you, if we join together we will be able to make a change in their behaviour (I do hope so).
I have also sent a letter to all Board Directors of HSBC Holdings Plc.
                        Reference HSBC India
I refer to the concerns that I raised at the AGM in May concerning the behaviour of HSBC in India. Following my representation of complainants against HSBC India I have found the behaviour by the Bank to be totally unacceptable. This is my personal belief.
                        (This is my personal belief.)
I have found that the Bank has failed to comply with the RBI and the Banking Ombudsman Rules and Regulation in the handling of complaints. Also in all the complaints that I have personally handled there was no evidence that the Bank had informed the complainants of their right to take their complaint to the Banking Ombudsman which the Bank was obliged to do under the RBI rules and regulations.

So if you would like to contact me, please send me your complaint in full.

                        Kind regards
                        Michael

                          Sir,

Ref: my credit card no. [protected]

Your statement period for month of sep 2009 to oct 2009 shows balance outstanding of Rs. 0.23 only.
After getting the statement I was surprised to know that you have charged an amount of Rs.400 plus service tax as late payment charge. The balance outstanding was 23 paisa only and while paying the amount, I have rounded off the payment amount ignoring 23 paisa.

Hence, late payment charges doesn't apply. And i will not pay any amount. If at all you insist for the same, I will not continue this credit card facility. Your immediate action in this regard is required.

                          Regards,

I had a HSBC credit card which expired on Nov -06. Whatever dues pending till card expiry where paid by me well within time. HSBC irenewed the card even though i was not interested and charged a annual fees. Since i did not want this card I never used this card. But HSBC sarted charging a let fees and interest charges on the annual charge. I never made any purchases on this card. But HSBC continued to charge interest and late charges on annual charges.
Their recovery agents started harassing me sometimes from Delhi and now from Mumbai. Last year they asked me to pay Rs. 350 as settlement and close the issue. Due to repeated phone call from their recovery agent i paid the money to get rid of the same. Now again they have started harassing me. Their Phone no. is [protected]. They are threatening me also.
Please help me in the same.

I recently applied for a car loan from State bank and the bank rejected my application.
After repeated request the reason given to me was that the CIBIL report indicated that there was an outstanding amount of Rs.16,332 approx on HSBC credit card vide no [protected] (Oct 2004 - Oct 2006) which was written off in July 2009 as per CIBIL report.
HSBC was not sending any statement (hard copy or e-statement) inspite of my several request and then i requested bank to closed my card after full outstanding payment.
Trust me I am going through a mental trauma as I have landed up in position where I have no clue about me being a defaulter in any of the banks.
We seek justice to get our names removed from the defaulter list with an immediate effect.
If HSBC is not willing to give me further clarifications on this outstanding amount, I am ready to drag them to court.

                                        Dear Sir or Madam:

My Name is Yogesh Kumar dixit & I am holding HSBC credit card since Oct-2007 and my Card no is 447xxxxxxxxxx9477 when I was received your credit card at that time it was told that it is lifetime free under a scheme & during three years there was no charged taken. But in Oct-2010 Annual fees 750+350 has been charged with out any information & when I contact your customer care I have not got satisfactory information by them. and they told that your card was free for only three year but this is not mention in that document which was given by you.

So I think That these charged is not as per our term & condition in that paper which I have received & I feel that this is cheating with me.

And I hope that the amount charged by bank will be back and not push to knock door for justice that there are so many way, and If this will not back to me Then I am unable to return our credit card balance amount

                                        . Hope for positive response

                                        Thanks & Regards

Please allow me to introduce myself my name is Michael Mason-Mahon and I am a shareholder of HSBC Plc. I am based in London yet I am a very regular visitor to India.

At HSBC Annual General Meeting of Shareholders 2010 I did address my concerns with the Board of Directors concerning what HSBC India has been doing and is doing in India to our customers.

I may be able to help you. I can assure you that I will do all that I can to help you. I have been very successful in the people that I have taken up their cases with HSBC. Now they will not let me help anymore Indian's. You may wonder why, ask the Chairman of HSBC Plc Mr Flint why.

Please go to this site. This is an interview that I did concerning HSBC.

If customers UNITE in India and decide to leave HSBC India in support of their fellow Indian's, who are making complaints about HSBC India then this may make HSBC Plc take action.
They talk about their Global Footprint and their Integrity. Please look at the following sites and see what the Indian people are saying about HSBC behaviour towards them.

Now ask yourself is this the Bank for you in India.

So if you would like to contact me and send me your phone number I will call you personally.

                                        Kind regards
                                        Michael
