REMINDER-9

Dear Customer Service Executive

I am in receipt of your reply to my Reminder-8 and I have gone through the contents of your mail.

I once again repeat for the sake of clarity that I have availed your loan offer for INR 800000 in

12 installments of INR 7120 ( This includes interest component of INR 5440. First of all I had never

Applied for a Platinum card , my gold card was upgraded to platinum card & at the time of conversion

I was told that EMI’s of loan amount will be converted to the Platinum card . I fail to understand

Why & with whose permission it has been converted into a single Transaction – How can you arbitrarily

Do so without the consent of customer ? I do not buy this arbitrary decision taken by you when you

Have charged intrest for 12 EMI’s . You have committed a mistake therefore , you take the corrective action.

I had never accepted the(SLOP) of 3 months offer given to me , you think customers are fools ?

They will repay the loan of 12 months EMI’s in 3 months EMI’s by paying intrest for 12 months.

I am repaying EMI’s of INR 7120 , 7 EMI’s I have already paid & remaining 5 will also be paid on due dates.

In my monthly statements you are charging interest on over due Etc etc. in spite of my follow up

Nothing seems to have moved at your end.

I am pained to know how customer are treated by you . I work for a company where customer satisfaction in

Above anything & we have got JD Power first prize for customer satisfaction

Finally I am advising you to set right the things failing which I will be compelled to resort to legal course

Of action .

Hope good sense will prevail

Reminder-8

I regret to inform you that in spite of sending 7 reminders and personal follow-ups with your customer care representative the matter stands unresolved as on date.

I am in receipt of your statement for the period 11th April, 2009 to 10th May, 2009 showing the total payment due of Rs. 45,891.41 wherein finance charges, service tax etc. etc., have been charged.

Finally you may note that I had taken a loan of Rs. 80000/- in 12 EMIs of Rs. 7120/- each works out to Rs. 85440/- (Rs. 80000 + Rs. 5440/- interest part). I have already paid 6 EMSs of Rs. 7120/- and I am obliged to pay the remaining 6 installments of Rs. 7120/- amounting to Rs. 42720/- and not Rs. 45891.14 as mentioned in your above referred statement.

This issue has not been resolved inspite of reminders and personal follow-ups.

Please do let me know in case you do not agree to the above so that I can proceed for a legal action against you. Please treat this as most urgent.

REMINDER-6

Customer Service Incharge

Further to my Reminder-5 , I have received Card statement Showing a debit balance of INR 67744.79.

I am not only shocked but equally concerned how customers are being dealt by HSBC . I am trying to

Settle the issue by paying all legitimate dues , perhaps this is being taken as my weakness . In my last

Five reminders I have very clearly mentioned my grievance by giving all facts & figures – I regret to note

That no one has even bothered to read & provide help .

I am making last attempt to make you understand issue pending as on date :

1- I took loan of INR 80000 to be repaid in 12 EMI’s of INR 7120 (INR 85440 in 12 months)

2- I have paid 4 EMI’s of INR 7120 last being on 1st FEB 2009, therefore , I have repaid total

amount of INR28480 leaving a balance of INR56960 .

3- In card statement a debit balance of INR65195.75 is shown whereas it should be INR 56960.

4- Loan of INR80000 was given in 12 EMI’s & intrest for 12 months has been charged in EMI’s

On what account Finance charges of INR 2268.48 and Service tax of INR280.38 has been charged ?

I want to clarify once again that I have to repay INR 56960 in 8 EMI’s of INR7120 & not a penny more.

Therefore for the last time I am advising you to rectify mistake at your end and confirm the status to

The undersigned, failing which I shall take the matter to Grivance cell & claim damages for harassment.

Please reply to enable me to take further course of action.

Yours Sincerely

Arvinder Deep Singh

This has reference to my previous mails on this subject (attached below for your reference)
None of the issues raised by me have been responded in any of you mail, perhaps you have
conveyed what you had to without even reading my mails.
I am pained to know a Bank of your stature treats its customers the way I am being treated .
Any now , I am once again advising you to look into the grivances raised by me & if you are
not in frame of mind to understand PLEASE consult you superiors for advise .
To summarise I put forward the following brief for sorting out the issues at your end :-

1) Please note out standing amount on INR80000 loan works out to INR 64080
after adjustment of 3 instalments paid by the undersigned by due dates .This has been agreed by
You & I have recd a statement of account of My previous Gold Card showing
Total loan outstanding as INR 64080.I fail to understand as to how an amount of INR79262.19
has been shown as Outstanding Debit in my Platinum Card Statement . You need to check & confirm
the above to the under signed immediately.
2) Therefore , I am supposed to pay 4th EMI of INR 7120 by 2nd February , which I agree to pay and
Thereafter remaining 8 instalments on monthly basis-this is what was agreed while accepting this loan of
INR80000.
3) In addition to 4th EMI of INR7120 , I am required to pay INR15161.92 towards puchases after adjustment of
INR117.06CR . Hence total payment to be made by the undersigned works out to INR 222 81.92 by 2nd Feb 2009.

Please confirm the above as I have not recieved revised Platinum Card satatement ,in order to deposit INR 22281.92
by 2nd Feb 09.I am running out of patience therefore, I request you to please make the necessary corrections at your
end by transferring the correct amount from Gold card to Platinum Card.Incase you are not in position to do so please
let me know sothat I can resort to other available options.

Yours Sincerely

    Dear Sir/Madam,

Please note that I was holding a HSBC Credit Card - [protected] & there was a disputed amount of Rs.673 for which I did not do the payment. Details of the same is attached in the letter sent to HSBC by me on 09/07/07. Please refer the attached letter.

I got a transfer from Chennai & stopped using the HSBC Credit Card & sent the same back to HSBC. After discussing with Ms. Tanya on Helpline I paid the balance amount of Rs 1186. And closed the matter.

Now recently I applied for a loan & my credit history with CIBIL show that I am having a disputed amount of Rs 9936 with HSBC. Since, I was in a hurry to avail the loan I contacted HSBC & paid a sum of Rs. 9936 to HSBC Credit Card. I had to use the countelfile of the payment for getting my loan approved.

Now when I am contacting HSBC then there response is unbelivably IRRESPONSIBLE. Even after series of emails they have not even cared to give a call back.

The Principal amount has been wrongly charged the whole balance amount is wrongly charged.

I request "Consumer complaints" to take this case strongly with HSBC. HSBC bank is literally playing with the institutions like CIBIL and after all, us consumers are the sufferers.

My argument here is that even if the total principal to be paid by me was Rs. 1794 (as claimed by the bank) which are also wrongly charged, why should I pay Rs. 9936. All this time HSBC never mad e single attempt to get in touch with me, either over phone or email or address.

Always in such disputes the bank takes the initiative to settle the matter. Never ever the consumer is made to pay the full outstanding. A 'settlement amlount' is finalised & that only has to be paid. But. here when I took the initiative to close the matter, the Bank's response is extremely Harsh, Irresponsible & does not show a response of a professional body.

I hereby request for a immediate settlement of the following 2 matters.

    1. Refund of the amount of money Rs9936 - Rs673 = Rs. 9263, immediately.
    2. A Clearance Letter immediately clearing my name from CIBIL.

This is a long pending issue and I request for immediate settlement.

    Thanks with Regards

      Dear sir,

I was on the payroll of Dell International Hitec City Madhavpur, Hyderabad from 08th March 04 to 07th May 06. I contributed towards my EPF as per the rule. My EPF no with Dell International was KN/24960/9534. Thereafter I joined HSBC Banjara Hills, Hyderabad on 08th May 06. My EPF no with HSBC Hyderabad is AP/37897/17941. I had requested for transfer of my EPF from Dell to HSBC in May 06. I have not yet received any confirmation regarding transfer of my EPF from your office.

On a personal enquiry from EPF office Hyderabad in August 09 I was told that there has not been any transfer from your office to Hyderabad office and the same is not reflecting in my statement of EPF account. I had sent my representative to the Bangalore office and he was told that an amount of Rs. 8278/- has been transferred on the 25th of December 06 vide cheque no. 127503. However he was also told that the amount transferred is incorrect and it should be more than Rs.30,000/- My personal records show that I had contributed around Rs.18500, the company also must have contributed as per the rules. Therefore the amount should have been more than Rs.30000.

I have been corresponding with the Bangalore office by emails/ telephone/ registered letter in the past but there has been no response. May I request you to kindly look into the matter and transfer the correct amount to my HSBC account no AP/37897/17941. I will appreciate if the things could be sorted out at the earliest since it is long outstanding.

      Thanking you.

      Yours sincerely,

          Dear Sirs,

I used to operate an HSBC credit card bearing number [protected] till the month of Nov 07.
In Nov of 2007,against a total outstanding of Rs 105000/-(one lakh and five thousand only) on my card I had called an HSBC officer to ask him close my card as I was in the process of a transfer from Kolkotta to chennai. For this I had asked if I close the entire amount, what will be the discount on this closure.
The HSBC officer asked me to make a total payment of Rs 90000/-(ninety thousand only) and this will ensure the account will be settled as closed. He also assure me a letter will be sent from HSBC against the cheque realisation as this was the process.
I thus made a payment through an ICICI cheque for Rs 90000/- in Nov 09 & was waiting for the settlement letter. To my surprise in about two weeks I recvd a call from some phone banking officer saying why I wanted to close the card. When I stated the reason & asked him about the settlement letter,he said the amount was 92000/- for final settlement & not Rs 90000/- & asked me to make a payment for Rs 2000/- as final settlement.
Fully believing, I made a cheque payment on ICICI for Rs 2000/- after which there was no phone call,no settlement letter or no any news.In between Dec 07 & July 08 there was no news from any body on this. Then again in July 08,I recvd a statement showing that my outstanding was Rs 19706/- & the bank asked me to make immidaite payment.
On calling the bank & against my naration of what I was told, the officer said there was no closure done on my account & this payment must be done.I told him that the card was destroyed by me & was not in use since November 2007 so why should I pay any more. This harasment kept happening over the months. In Dec 2008 when the phone came from HSBC,I told them I will be going to court to complain this issue for which so phone officer from Delhi called up saying the legal way will take a long time, please pay Rs 5000/- & we will immidiately give the closure to this account.
I guess this time again the bank fooled me and collected Rs 5000/- from me saying in a receipt as Final settlement.
But even to this day the bank is still calling me & harrasing me on this.It is about time I am going for a Complaint with the "consumer forum" as well as the police ainst the FRAUD HSBC BANK.
Please allow me to introduce myself my name is Michael Mason-Mahon and I am a shareholder of HSBC Plc. I am based in London.
I was in Mumbai in September where I had a meeting with the CEO of HSBC to raise my concerns about the way HSBC was treating its customers.
I am going to ask the RBI TO DO A FULL INVESTIGATION into HSBC India.
For me to do this I need people that are willing to send their complaints to me and to allow me to forward their complaints, not only to the Board of Directors of HSBC Holdings Plc also to the Governor, Dr. D Subbarao and Shriv.K.Sharma, Executive Director of the Reserve Bank of India to investigate HSBC India as evidence to support the way that (and this is my personal belief) the Bank has breached the Code of Banks Commitment to Customers.

Please help me to help you, if we join together we will be able to make a change in their behaviour (I do hope so).
I have also sent a letter to all Board Directors of HSBC Holdings Plc.
          Reference HSBC India
I refer to the concerns that I raised at the AGM in May concerning the behaviour of HSBC in India. Following my representation of complainants against HSBC India I have found the behaviour by the Bank to be totally unacceptable. This is my personal belief.
          (This is my personal belief.)
I have found that the Bank has failed to comply with the RBI and the Banking Ombudsman Rules and Regulation in the handling of complaints. Also in all the complaints that I have personally handled there was no evidence that the Bank had informed the complainants of their right to take their complaint to the Banking Ombudsman which the Bank was obliged to do under the RBI rules and regulations.

So if you would like to contact me, please send me your complaint in full.

          Kind regards
          Michael

            Sir,

Ref: my credit card no. [protected]

Your statement period for month of sep 2009 to oct 2009 shows balance outstanding of Rs. 0.23 only.
After getting the statement I was surprised to know that you have charged an amount of Rs.400 plus service tax as late payment charge. The balance outstanding was 23 paisa only and while paying the amount, I have rounded off the payment amount ignoring 23 paisa.

Hence, late payment charges doesn't apply. And i will not pay any amount. If at all you insist for the same, I will not continue this credit card facility. Your immediate action in this regard is required.

I AM HOLDING CREDIT CARD NO. [protected].

LAST DEC'08 I HAVE MADE BALANCE TRF OF MY ICICI CARD TO ABOVE HSBC CARD ON 12 MONTHS EMI BASIS. THEY HAVE SPLITTED THE AMOUNT IN 30000 AND 8000 APPROX. WHILE DOING BALANCE TRF THEY TOLD ME SOME INTEREST WILL BE CHARGED BY THEM ON THE AMOUNT AND TOLD ME THE EMI AROUND Rs.3000/-

BUT THE HSBC CARD ADDED Rs.30000/- IN MY PURCHASE ACCOUNT AND NOW THEY ARE CHARGING THEIR INTEREST AROUND 42% ON THE SAID AMOUNT. I AM REGULARLY PAYING THEIR AMOUNT IN MIN DUES AMOUNT TILL DATE I HAVE PAID MUCH MORE AMOUNT THAN WHAT I HAVE UTILISED FROM CREDIT CARD.

NOW I WANT TO DO SETTLEMENT, BUT THEY ARE DENYING FOR THE SAME. PLS HELP ME OUT.

I was holding a credit card from HSBC Bank, which i have settled in the year 2007. Still i am receiving statements and messages against my credit card which i have settled long back.

I recently applied for a car loan from State bank and the bank rejected my application.
After repeated request the reason given to me was that the CIBIL report indicated that there was an outstanding amount of Rs.16,332 approx on HSBC credit card vide no [protected] (Oct 2004 - Oct 2006) which was written off in July 2009 as per CIBIL report.
HSBC was not sending any statement (hard copy or e-statement) inspite of my several request and then i requested bank to closed my card after full outstanding payment.
Trust me I am going through a mental trauma as I have landed up in position where I have no clue about me being a defaulter in any of the banks.
We seek justice to get our names removed from the defaulter list with an immediate effect.
If HSBC is not willing to give me further clarifications on this outstanding amount, I am ready to drag them to court.

                          Dear Sir or Madam:

My Name is Yogesh Kumar dixit & I am holding HSBC credit card since Oct-2007 and my Card no is 447xxxxxxxxxx9477 when I was received your credit card at that time it was told that it is lifetime free under a scheme & during three years there was no charged taken. But in Oct-2010 Annual fees 750+350 has been charged with out any information & when I contact your customer care I have not got satisfactory information by them. and they told that your card was free for only three year but this is not mention in that document which was given by you.

So I think That these charged is not as per our term & condition in that paper which I have received & I feel that this is cheating with me.

And I hope that the amount charged by bank will be back and not push to knock door for justice that there are so many way, and If this will not back to me Then I am unable to return our credit card balance amount

                          . Hope for positive response

I am having a PLOC account with your HSBC bank, this account have been started 2 to 3 years back and till date in my account there is NO default happened.

I had received a letter from your end 2 to 3 months back stating that "You had failed and neglected to respond to all our previous remands related to payment of your overdue account" If I had not made any default in my account how this can happen and it have been written in the letter that this information will be updated in CIBIL. Then I called the number given in the letter and asked your people about this, they told me that this letter have been send to you by mistake, you can ignore the same.

Yesterday also I received one similar letter from your end dated 26/09/2009, when I checked with your team member (complaint no. [protected]) regarding the letter it have been told to me that "It might have happened by mistake" How a mistake can happen twice and it is a system generated letter also. How you can send such type of letters to the customers if there is no default in his account and stating that your details will be updated in CIBIL, if I don't have such track record.

My credit card had a total outstanding of Rs 110,700 as on 4th September. The due date was 26th September . On 25th I got a call from the customer care asking me for the payment. I wanted to settle the entire amount, so I asked them to send their executive. 26th, 27th and 28th were holidays, hence the executive was supposed to come on 29th. The executive however did not come on 29th. So on 30th , I called up the IVR system and came to know from the automated response, that the total outstanding was now Rs 111,700/-. I assumed that it would be due to late payment charges, hence I issues a cheque of Rs 111,700/- on 30th September, which due to bank holiday on 30th and 2nd Oct, got cleared only on 3rd October. Today when I called up the customer care to verify if my credit card balance was zero or not, I came to know that my balance was Rs 3600/- on account of finance charges.

My statement is generated on 4th of every month, so why were the finance charges levied when I had made the total outstanding payment on 3rd itself. Also, nowhere in the terms and conditions does it mention the duration for which the finance charges will be applied. Also, why should I pay Rs 3600/ because their executive did not turn up on the decided date. Also , why did the IVR system show the total outstanding without the finance charges if there were supposed to be any on 1st October. How come in one day i.e between 1st and 3rd October , suddenly there were finance charges levied.

Its extremely stressful to have these conversations with the customer care guys since they are rude and extremely non customer friendly.

                                Complaint marked as Resolved
They have sent me a bill of Rs 28000 inspite of me cancelling the card more than a year ago.
Three months back itself i send a mail that there is no credit bal for my card. my card no [protected] but simply sending the message as bal only three times made the transactions and i paid everything by the due date itself. i gave my mobile no also no one contact me once again my no [protected] and also kindly give the details
I had CANCELLED TATA AIG Health Insurance Plan, applied thru HSBC Credit Card in the first Month, but neither HSBC nor Tata Aig Cancelled the policy, & kept on charging premium amount, whenever i recd the bill i called up customer care, everytime i was told not to pay it would be reversed, but they never reversed, moreover they charged me interest as well as finance charges for the same. ultimately they have reported my case to CIBIL, due to this i am unable to get any loan from any of the bank. HSBC Legal dept head Nilofer spoke to me & told me not to pay she will reverse the amount, same has not yet happened. I have forwarded all documents to HSBC credit card dept 10 times. but in vain. HSBC Credit Card — BILLED FOR HEALTH INSURANCE WITHOUT INFORMATION

I took a credit card from HSBC in June 2008 confirming that there are no annual charges attached with the card. However I recieved my first bill of Rs 785 for the period of 22nd June-08 to 22nd-july-08.

The Bill was clasified as below:

30 JUN Lifestyle Processing Fee 279.78
24 JUN REPAYMENT PROTECTION PREMIUM 505.62

I considered it to be just an error and thought of calling the bank, but due to a hectic schedule it slipped my mind and subsequently I recieved a second bill.

I then called the customer care and was informed that I had opted for a health insurance plan along with the card which I had not. I asked them to waive off the charges but they kept saying that they could not do it as the bill was generated and I had complianed late.

My concern is why should I pay if I haven't used the card till now and also when I had not opted for any plans. I kept recieving bills with increasing amounts and got a few calls as weel to pay my baance. I kept asking the same question, but they were not ready to waive off the charges.

When I stopped recieving the calls I made 3 calls to the customer care and also to a senior person based in chennai, but got the same response from everywhere.I stopped getting calls and the bills, then I called again to the customer care and was informed that the bill is now over Rs 6800 and the collection department will be taking care of it. I called the collection department and was informed that a seperate agency would be taking care of it. I don't understand what is going on and what should I do.
How can a bank loose its reputation for a small amount of money. I am worried about my staus in CIBIL which can affect my future credits.

Kindly guide me where and whom should I approach.
                                dear sir ;

HSBC Bank — Annual fee charged and interest incorrect

                                Dear Sir/Madam,

I have been issued a credit card from HSBC (card no.[protected]) as a free card. At the time of applying for the credit card as well as at the time of telephonic verification, I had orally confirmed that the cards were life time free cards. However, recently my card account has been debited with annual charges. When contacted, the officials in HSBC now say that HSBC cards are not life time free cards and it is subject to annual charges and that it has been mentioned in the tariff card of the credit card service guide.

It is a matter of common sense for me that when all the other banks are offering life time free cards from around five years back, why would one customer go for a paid card? The point is that at the time of issue and verification of credit card I have been cheated by telling that the cards are life time free.

It is true that when we do not have the chances of getting a free card in any other bank then we would go to a paid card.

When i received SMS 23/11/2009 saying total payment of 27271 and as per the calculation it should have been Rs.24500 .

i gave a call to customer care said some extra charge have been added to my card and Customer care person replied your card is not free card(which is cover in above paragraph) and they calculated inserted for which i already paid for Rs.20000 and i requested to block the card and i asked for reversal of extra charges interference no[protected] but no action is taken yet.

I faced same problem last november'08 they charged me with annual fee. Please look up the break up charges.

Can you help me on this...Also is there any RBI rule on interest charges which these bank can charged by these bank

With a great difficulty I'm paying your dues but you people are making my life very difficult.

I used to receive call from your collection department every day at least 20 times regularly but i used to explain the problem daily but still they use to ask same question and give same reply for my problem..

Which really disturbed my regular life. Please instruct your staff / call center not to harass over phone.

I holed payment due to above reason.

Again I would like to request you please reverse the late fee for last months, annual fee and extra intrest charge as charged in the statement. Based on your response I shall make the payment and reconsider my decision whether to continue with the card or not.

                                Regards
                                Gnanakumar.P
HSBC had levied wrong finance charges and late payment charges of Rs. 1360.60 on my card in November 2007, after making several requests on the phone and writing 4 letters to the bank over the last 2 years, till date they have not reversed the charges and they continue to levy more finance charges on these and have inflated the amount to 14702.87.

Earlier the bank did not respond to my letters sent in April 2008 & June 2008nor were they accpeting my card cancellation request.

However after writing to the nodal officer in December 2009, I did get a reply confirming that the card had been cancelled, but they have refused to reverse the charges.

The detailed trail of events is as under...

The problem dates back to October 2007…

November 07: I received a call from HSBC inquiring if I have made the credit card payment and since I was traveling I had informed them that the cheque was handed over at my office and would be dropped at the drop box and subsequently I had confirmed with my office that the cheque was dropped on 07/11/07.

17/10/07 – 16/11/07 bill: I was charged undue finance charges of Rs. 1360.60(incl. service tax) on supposedly delayed payment of credit card, as explained earlier the payment was dropped on time, hence I called up the customer service and explained the problem and requested for reversal of the wrong charges, but she insisted that the payment was dropped late and hence I requested for card cancellation.

12/12/07: Received a call from HSBC (from Chennai - 044 code) asking for reason of cancellation and when I explained them the above reason they said that the charges would be reversed and I should continue to use the card.
There was an outstanding payment of Rs 382.45 in the statement period 17/10/07 – 16/11/07 and I was assured I am not supposed to pay this, since the wrong charges in this statement of Rs. 1360.60 which had been reversed and the current outstanding was nil.

17/11/07 – 15/12/07 bill: Charges were not reversed as conveyed to me and to my surprise additional late payment + finance charges of Rs. 662.20 (incl. service tax) were added.

24/12/2007: I received a call from collection department, which was surprising since the last date of payment was on 07/01/08, when asked the reason for the call they informed that 2 bills were unpaid (17/10/07 – 16/11/07 bill & 17/11/07 – 15/12/07 bill), hence I discussed with them about the 17/10/07 – 16/11/07 bill which I was told has nil payment after adjustment of charges, they assured me both the bills charges would be reversed and I should make a payment of the actual spending on my card of Rs. 7476.85 immediately. They said they would send someone for collection and I should not drop the cheque at the drop-box.
By this time I was already fed-up of your false promises and told them I would make the payment only if the card would be cancelled, they said I should make the payment and the card cancellation request was accepted and would be processed after the cheque was cleared.
The payment of Rs. 7476.85 was collected on 30/12/07.

16/12/07 – 16/01/08 bill: To my utter surprise and frustration I received a bill showing o/s of Rs. 2092.92 (all of which was due to wrong charges)
                                Rs. 1360.60 17/10/07 – 16/11/07 bill
                                Plus Rs. 662.20 17/11/07 – 15/12/07 bill
Plus Rs. 182.48 added now in the 16/12/07 – 16/01/08 bill
Less Rs. 112.36 unexplainable credit of charges which is not corresponding to any given month
                                Total Rs. 2092.95

15/01/08: I used my card to check whether the card cancellation was atleast done or not. Again to my frustration the transaction got through.

22/02/08: I once again used my card to check whether the card cancellation was done or not. Again to my frustration the transaction got through.

06/03/08: Called customer service spoke to Mr. Nilesh and informed him of the entire above stated history and requested to accept request for card cancellation, he transferred to the card cancellation department and even after 7 mins of hold nobody came on the line. I disconnected and dialed again and after 20 mins of hold the call was disconnected by your customer service department.

17/12/08 – 15/03/08 bill: O/s was Rs. 6519.59, out of which the actual spend was only of Rs. 3203.33, the balance Rs. 3316.26 was the accumulation of wrong charges.
                                Rs. 1360.60 17/10/07 – 16/11/07 bill
                                Plus Rs. 662.20 17/11/07 – 15/12/07 bill
                                Plus Rs. 182.48 16/12/07 – 16/01/08 bill
                                Less Rs. 112.36 16/12/07 – 16/01/08 bill unexplainable credit
                                Plus Rs. 840.24 17/01/08 – 16/02/08 bill
                                Less Rs. 25.00 17/01/08 – 16/02/08 fuel surcharge credit
                                Plus Rs. 408.10 17/02/08 – 16/03/08 bill
                                Total Rs. 3316.26

16/04/08: Submitted a letter to the bank explaining the whole problem and requested for card cancellation. I had clearly stated in the letter that I would not pay any of the undue charges that had been levied and the actual amount due of Rs. 3203.33 was already paid.

10/06/08: Since the bills had still not stopped coming and every month finance charges were being piled up on the undue charges, I wrote a reminder letter to the bank for cancellation of card & requested for a reply.

2008 August 1st week: Since the bills and piling up of finance charges had still not stopped and no reply letter was received from the bank I once again called the customer service and was told to visit the branch and the issue would be resolved.
I visited the Andheri East branch in August 1st week but the executive at the branch told me that he can’t do anything about it and registered a feedback no. [protected] requesting for status confirmation letter. He also suggested that I speak to the call centre from the branch itself and they suggested to get in touch with the recovery agents to settle the issue. I had been given the following telephone numbers and contact persons[protected]Seema Shekhavat) /[protected]Gaurav Mehra), however I could never get through these numbers or these people were never available.

In between I did get a call or two for payment and I had requested for a reply to my earlier letters, but till date no reply has been received from the bank. However the bank diligently keeps sending me bills for a card which does not exist anymore levying finance charges month on month on an amount which was initially under dispute.

I believe I had tried enough to set the record straight with the bank but since there was no response to either letters or any satisfactory reply on calls I had dropped the matter choosing to ignore the wrong bills the way the bank had chosen to ignore my complaints.

2009 November 4th week: I was in for a rude shock when I started receiving obnoxious calls from your Delhi call centre for the payments. That is when I dug up all the previous paper work and give it one last try to get it settled with the bank and sent a letter on 07/12/09.

The bank has finally replied to my letters in December 2009 but has refused to reverse the charges.

The piling up of charges over the undue charges alone has lead to the current o/s of Rs. 14129.03, there is not a single paisa which I have actually spent and not paid to the bank. In view of the above trail of events I am not unjustified in asking for closure of this long trail and reversal of the entire amount of Rs. 14129.03.

I wish to lodge a complaint with Banking Ombudsman & the consumer court... could somebody please guide me to the detailed procedure of lodging complaints with the two.

HSBC Credit Card — undue Charges and false promises

I have been using a HSBC Card for last 6 years. The time it was issued I was told it is a life time free card and for the last 5 years no annual charges were levied on me.

This year since I have not used the card for the last 12-14 mths they levied me annual charges and not informed me either.

Now they are threatening that either I pay up this amount which has snowballed to 4.7 K or they will report me to CIBIL.

Can the bank authorities and the Forum members suggest me a course of action.
out of this 4.7 K I have not made any purchases its all annual charges and the interest there of.

                                Dear Prajesh

Exactly same thing happened with me.
I am extremely cautious regarding financial institutions.

I filled the application form myself thats why I know that I have not opted for any AIG Policy.
I got a TATA AIG policy after free look period (15 days)
I Called AIG customer care immediately and asked for policy cancellation.
AIG person accepted to do so. (I noted down the Cancellation request no.)
Same day I called HSBC regarding the same.
I got the same answer..." You need to pay nothing. It will get reversed in next bill" (I noted down the reference no.)
But on safer side I paid "Minimum Amount Due" in order to avoid late payment charges.
In next bill also It did not happened . I called again customer care.

I got same answer once again.(I noted down the request no.)
Once again I paid "Minimum Amount Due" in order to avoid late payment charges.

                                Same activity on third bill.

Finally in fourth bill I paid total amount due.

After clearence of checque, I Called HSBC customer care for cancellation of credit card.
                                They asked me the reason.
I told them that HSBC has done fraud with me.
You have given me AIG policy without my sign or approval then you can charge any amount in future.

Then they asked me wether I have signed any add on page I told 'NO'

(HSBC has issued me AIG policy based on fake sign on add on page)

Dear, I was knowing that I am paying for nothing, But I was knowing about the complications.

                                (Unfornatunately you faced it.)

I had maintained premium credit card No.[protected] in the name of Rajiv Bhatnagar and generate some 985 redeem points. perior to this I was a very good payment maker, but in the last billing I was adament to make the payment to the bank, where they have charged the late payment chages where I have no fault.
In April'09 there was a out standing of Rs.0.18 paisa for which no bill was sent to me even till date I never received the hard copy of the bill and I always make the payment on the basis of SMS only. So in april might be because of ignorance I had issued the cheque lesser by 0.18 paisa, which was again generated because of latepayment charges and service tax thereon. after that bank had charged the compound late payment charges and insited me to make the minimum charges of Rs.200/, but why ?
The bank had charged late payment charges 2 to 3 times but never send the hard copy of the bill on my mailing address : N-2,IInd floor, Kalkaji, New Delhi-110019.
Since the bank has stopped me to use that card without making the socalled payment and continueing harrassing me from their Mumbai talycaller for the outstanding payment. Now my request is to the concern authorities to please revive my card with levying any chages on that and reimburse the earlier paid late payment charges charged by them without providing the hard copy of the statement.
                                  Hoping for the justice.

I am a NRI who availed a home loan from HSBC and recently (on 23rd Septemebr 2009) whilst on vacation visited HSBC, Kochi to request early closure of my home loan with the bank by debiting my NRO a/c (into which I had already transferred monies to cover the outstanding). The request was graciously accepted and as a customer advised that it will be actioned within 10 days and should also be expecting a call from HSBC as standard procedure to action closure. Pending this I did receive a call around the 1st October 2009 (I continue to accrue interest still) suggesting a better interest rate if I continued the loan (an anti-attrition call, disguised as a good customer reflection) which I declined and then to my dis-belife I get a letter (by which time I'm back from vacation) advising that I now need to submit/mail them a cheque, wherein, I forecast and compute the accuring interest amount as well from 1st October 2009 till date of clearance.

On calling the help line desk at HSBC to find out what was the reason that my written request wasn't actioned and after going to a maze of questions to authenticate the customer, I was advised that the reason why the letter wasn't actioned was because the signature verification failed. How strange, they accept the request, they call you to dissuade you not to early close and then when they fail in retaining, they claim that they can't action the request because the signature did not match.

I respect regulations and accept need to authenticate but does banking have not longer any space for good customer behaviour and where does then 'KYC' and "CRM" and face to face interactions come into play. What confidence do I have that if I mailed/submitted a cheque as requested, they would action this:-
                                    1) citing signature mismatch again
                                    2) advising that my computed amounts varries from what they compute as on date of action (as I'm in no control of the date when they would receive a cheque I mail from my country of work or when they receive it in their mailroom et all)

                                    or some new creative reason.

Least expect this from HSBC and if this is what they service standards are for customers they classify and tag as PREMIER..

How do I get a fair treatment and feel confident about the banking regulations/environment in India and prevent from such abuse? What recourse to I have in stopping this abuse
HSBC bank is the worst bank. Last one month they have been rejecting my every cheque saying there is a signature mismatch and then want me to submit a plethora of documents to clear the cheque. Worst still they don't have the decency to talk proper.

I have transfered my citicard credit card balance to hsbc credit card under balance transfer scheme. But prior to get the check or DD they have added the due in the hsbc account. I was surprised and really it was a big cheating. Whenever i send mail to hsbc regarding this, they simply says that do phone bank and get the advice.
