IRCTC is appealing to general public through its ticket booking website that please don't take
printout of your E-tickets and help the nation to save papers and their employees
are fining people considering this as an offense, saying that IRCTC has nothing to do with
Railway and Railway has not Passed on any such information to the public or the staff yet

This is the case of A3 Tier 2 Car of Trivendrum Rajdhani Express on 27th September Morning
at 12:45 am when Railway Officer S N Bodwal came in the car to check the tickets of the
passenger. He asked Mr. Amit Sharma to show the ticket and when Mr. Sharma has shown
the ticket to him on his laptop along with a valid identity proof. The said Railway officer
asked him for Rs 50 as a fine. On asking that for which offense he is asking for penalty he
said you have not taken the printout of your E-Ticket. Mr. Sharma described him and showed
him the appeal by IRCTC on his laptop but he refused to accept that and specifically
mentioned that IRCTC has nothing to do with the Northern Railway and Railway has not
passed on any such information to the public or the staff yet.

And the same officer has refused the passengers to give a certification of AC not working in
2 Tier AC Car of Trivendrum Rajdhani Express on the same day. Passengers were extremely
unhappy with the kind of treatment they got in 2 Tier AC Class where all respectable
    and Senior level people travels
The officer clearly refused to give any such certificate however the AC was not working
for 3 flat hours in the train which people paid for.

Copy of IRCTC Appeal on their ticket booking site -

Electronic Reservation Slip (ERS) - The printout in standard specified Performa containing reservation particulars, and instructions for use which can be used by the passenger along with the relevant authorizedIdentification, as travel authority for performing the journey.

Virtual Reservation Message (VRM) - A screen-shot of the e-ticket displayed through laptops/palmtops/ Mobile phone is referred as Virtual Reservation Message (VRM).

ERS/VRM along with any one of the eight prescribed ID proofs in original and the indication of the passenger(s)' name(s) in the Reservation Chart will authorize the passenger to travel.

VRM combined with valid photo-id in original will be treated as an instrument on par with the ERS.

ERS/VRM along with one of the eight prescribed proofs of identity in original will also authorize the passenger to enter the platform on the day of journey and he/she will not be required to purchase platform ticket. ERS/VRM along with original id proof will be required to be produced on demand of Ticket Checking Staff on the platform.

I purchased a ticket for onward and return from SCRailway. I am supposed to board the onward train on 24/09/11 from Secunderabad to Narsapur by Narsapur express. Due to Telangana agitation the train is cancelled. I approached the railway reservation counter of Moula-ali on 24/10/11 @ 13:25 to modify my journey to another date because the train is cancelled by the railway authorities. The employee collected extra amount from me. The reason said by the employee is railway cancelled only the train from Hyderabad to Narsapur but not cancelled the train From Narsapur to Hyderabad. How is it possible for a person to travel from Narsapur to Hyderabad without travelling from Secunderabad to Narsapur.Railway cancelled the train though I am ready to travel. They are imposing fines for cancelations why not they pay if they cancel the train. it is not fair.

The Union Minister of Railways, 23.09.11
            Parliament House,
            New Delhi.

            Respected Sir,
            1. Jnaneswari Sup Dlx Train no 12102 BRD Howrah JN – Reg
            2. From 1.06.2010 Train 12102’s DEPARTURE time is 4.30AM –
            3. Till today, after 15 MONTHS – Ticket READS as SCH DEP 22.55 Hrs –
            4. PUBLIC Suffering for WRONG Timing on Ticket – Reg

Kindly note that from 1.06.2010, Jnaneswari Sup Dlx Train no12102 LEAVES Howrah at 4.30AM on a REGULAR Basis. But till today, ie, even after 15 Months, the SCHEDULE DEPARTURE in the Ticket for the said Train no12102 Reads as 22.22Hrs. We do NOT understand WHY ????

People coming from South India, fix their Tour Schedule by looking at the time mentioned on the Tickets. The innocent Tourists/Public, vacate their respective rooms and go to the Railway Station – where they are told that for the past 15 Months this Train 12102 DEPARTS at 4.30AM only.

JUST THINK of the PLIGHT of POOR PASSENGERS LOITERING on the Platforms with their FAMILIES for 5 to 6 hours.

When Train 12102 DEPARTS REGULARLY by 4.30AM, for the Past 15 Months – why should NOT the Tickets show the RIGHT TIME of DPARTURE as 4.30AM and Arrival as 13.30 hrs ???

This is a very serious matter of Sheer NEGLIGENCE on the part of Govt and Railways Department !!!

The Govt is of the public, by the public and for the public. But here for the past 15 Months, the Public is made to SUFFER WANTEDLY by the Govt and Railways for NO reason or rhyme.

Hence we request the Govt Authorities & the Railways to CHANGE the SCH DEP time as 4.30Am and ARR as 13.30hrs for Jnaneswari Train 12102 and ALL the other TRAINS going towards WEST of HOWRAH JN. Please do help and oblige.

On 20.09.2011 at 12.00 noon when after eating at irctc snack bar at howrah stn new complex near main enquiry when I asked for drinking water, I was shown the tap inside. The condition of the said drinking water tap was very poor, inhygenic, shabby and dirty that it was not at all possible to drink watre from it after seeing that. May I know when was the last inspection done and whether it was covered in the inspection or not. Why no action has been taken and is there anybody at all to look after it. Why paper glass was no there.

The slow trains on the the western line for Andheri should be increased in the mornin peak hour. Their are many borivali trains in morning which can be extended to Andheri seeing the crowd towards Andheri.
Even in the evening peak hours time say from 5 to 8, the trains to virar should be increased. Currently their are many Bhayendar locals between 7 to 8 which can be extended to Virar.

Please take this seriously as their are many people who are facing this issue.

                        Hi,

I reside at Vasai and work at Goregaon. There are very few Virar-Andheri slow trains during morning time till around 10 o'clock. It becomes really difficult to travel in the existing trains as it gets jam packed with hardly getting even space to breathe. Getting down at borivali and then boarding slow train from there is even more cumbersome.
Request you to please either start some more new Virar-Andheri slow trains or extend existing Virar-Borivali trains till Andheri.
Hope you understand the agony of passengers and would look into the matter and resolve it.

                        Thanks & Regards,
Traveller of 8.15 am Andheri Slow :-(

Western Railway looks after every station falling on it's route till Dahanu but it will not look after Boisar
We told western railways that We want 12921/22 Flying ranee express for our daily travelling but it ignores it
Daily Kutch Express have a siding at Boisar at Platform 1 but it is not given official Halt here.
it will GIve the stoppages of trains only to palghar and dahanu but not to us
We complained that we need trains to travel to gujarat, rajasthan like bhuj, jaipur, jodhpur
and New Delhi But it will not give us rather it will give to palghar, Dahanu and virar.

We are very, very, very Upset with this.
                          pleas take action Immediately.

It is absolutely true that western railway has been showing complete partiallity while giving halts to express/superfast trains at Palghar & Dahanu road. Recently there was survey carried out by times of india which had clearly shown that total number of passengers travelling Boisar were more than that travelling from both palghar & dahanu road combined. Still trains such as flying ranee, saurashtra janta, ranakpur, sayaji nagari express are given halts at palghar & dahanu instead of Boisar, where it is required the most.
As stated Kutch express is kept at siding at Boisar station to pass rajhdhani express, it should be given official halt at Boisar & let rajdhani express to pass. This will increase revenue of railway by sales of tickets of this trains from Boisar.

I hope that railways adopt professional attitude before taking decisions with regard to halts of express trains.

                            Dear Sir,

May I take this opportunity to expose the present condition of railway function from a passenger’s experience? Try to do something if possible.

I was to travel from Trivandrum to Chennai on E ticket PNR No [protected] by Train No. 12698 on 10/09/2011. Since I had a wait listed e-ticket checked the same in http://www.indianrail.gov.in/cgi_bin/inet_pnrstat_cgi.cgi to know the status, there it was indicated Train running 6 hours 20 minutes late.

In order to confirm this called 139 repeatedly which informed over IVR the train is running on time. To confirm it with an executive/officer it was not possible through 139.
Got an SMS from (TA – 139) on my registered phone no. [protected] (as

To know more on it called[protected] explaining the situation but rudely told to call 139, informed of the IVR, but hung up whenever called. Then called[protected],[protected] nobody picked, called[protected], informed to call 139, desperately informed that through 139 nobody in person could be contacted but informed that is the only way, called Reservation 132, 1361, 133,[protected],[protected],[protected] none worked or responded, lastly tried the Railway alert no [protected] surprisingly that too did not work.
Tried another railway portal http://www.trainenquiry.com/indexNS.aspx which showed this
Ultimately I had to rush to the railways station and on enquiring at the counter they informed the train is late. The amount of money spend on phone calls, the mental agony and the physical endurance I had to undergo has no limit. I wrote down a complaint No 382470 at the Station Masters office, Trivandrum and travelled with alternate method.
With so much of technology and abundant manpower the railways is functioning this way to everyone’s dismay. Earlier railways functioned to some level, now it is in shambles. When will this country wake up to the call of the citizens? It is rightly said that Indians are treated as cattle as far as railways is concerned.
I have depicted the plight of railways; please do something to do justice to the taxpayer’s money.
                            Thanking you,
                            Yours faithfully

Purushottam Superfast Express (Train no. 12801) from Bhubaneswar to Gaya on 10.09.2011. We were initially given extremely dirty and used bedroll to which we objected and asked for clean bedrolls. But the attendant refused us saying he did not have any clean bedroll as all the sheets he had were of the same nature - dirty and used. So we asked him to give us the complaints book on the train so that we could register our complaint. He referred us to the TTE. We asked the TTE at Cuttack railway station for the complaint book and he told us he will give it in one hour's time but through the night he did not give us the complaint book though we were waiting for the complaint book. Then on 11.09.2011 we asked the next TTE for the complaint book and he too told us to wait and never gave us the complaint book. We would like to register a complaint regarding provision of dirty and used bedroll, misbehaviour by attendant of B2 A/C coach and deliberate avoidance by TTEs for giving us complaint book for registering our complaint regarding the dirty bedroll. We request that the matter be taken up urgently as it refers to basic and minimum passenger facilities on a long route train and it is our right to get clean bedroll since the Railways is taking the cost of the same from us in the train ticket fare. My seat number is B2 17 on this train.

                                Sir,
we had purchased an e-ticket under Tatkal Scheme. My mother in law and a cousin were travelling in 2945 Tapti Ganga Express on 28.7.10.The PNR is [protected]. During the journey the TTI insisted for Indentity proof, which the passangers did not have. The rules for the Tatkal Scheme states that 'No Identity proof is required to be produced neither at the time of booking nor during the journey." Photocopies of the same were produced to the TTI. However the TTI did not listen, misbehaved and threatened. We had to pay Rs. 1620 as excess fare ticket charges amounting to Rs. 1620.00 vide receipt No. C813249 dt 29.7.10.
Kindly take necessary actions against the TTI and help us get the refund.

                                  Dear Sir,

This is a kind request for the railways to have regular checks in the ladies first class compartment as many 2nd class passengers get into this compartment and occupy the seats especially for virar trains or are standing at the door.

Secondly it becomes very difficult in the mornings to get into 1st class compartment especially 6.44(at vasai) in virar -churchgate train as there are many 2nd class college students who get down at vasai using both sides of the door and not letting the passengers to get in . we actually have to pull them out .

Thirdly there are hawkers selling out things and sometimes 4 to 5 get in at one time and block the whole compartment. As it is the ladies first class is too conjested and nowadays with the increased crowd of students with their huge bags it becomes very inconvenient and sometimes they block the doors making it very difficult for the seniors to get out of the train.
Even cleanliness has to be maintained .

one more suggestion if the Vasai - Dadar local could be extended up to Churchgate or at least halt it at Bandra because the Churchgate passengers who have to change at Dadar becomes difficult to get out of the crowd. As the frequency for the Churchgate trains is bad , atleast for the rest of the crowd there is a option of taking Bandra, Andheri or Borivali trains .

I would be glad if you look into this matters.

Thanking you in anticipation and looking forward for immediate action.

                                  Yours sincerely,

                                  Passenger

I have booked train ticket for my wife and me from Vijayawada to Vaikom road (Kerala) for journey on 6.9.11in Kerala express from New Delhi in AC 2 tier.My wife was allotted berth no.45 on confirmation (Waiting list3) the worst berth in 2nd AC and she had to travel alone. My berth was not confirmed as per IRCTC initially . In the train it was told by TTE that my ticket was also confirmed &I was allotted berth no.19.Since I could not cancel my ticket this berth should have been allotted to my wife who was to sit in a II AC compartment (Old and ugly). The TTE it seems had sold the berth no.19 to somebody of his choice. My wife repeatedly reqested for change of berth and TTE refused to give it to her.
Thejourney in Kerala express is hopeless even in AC compartments. The bogies are oldest and ugly.Ladies should be allotted safe seats instead of berth no. 45which is disturbed and unsafe.
TTE may be asked to provide priority to the Ladies and old people to change to the berths if the fellow passenger is cancelling the ticket at the last minute .
