Due to some personal emergency, my travel was cancelled at early dawn on 19-Feb-2016. As per red bus Policy, one can cancel ticket 12 hours prior to journey. My bus timing was at 08:20 PM in the evening. So 12 hours prior will be 08:20 AM in the morning. Not to take any risks, I just googled the customer care number of Red Bus and called on[protected] at 06:01 AM in the morning. Now the IVR ask to press 01 for Bus bookings and 02 for Hotel Bookings.
I Pressed 01 for Bus booking.
Now the option 02 is for cancellation, I pressed the same.
It now asks to enter my mobile number followed by hash (#) key.
I pressed the same and the call is disconnected.
BOOM !!! I am shocked. No response, no acknowledgement, no sms whether it has been cancelled or not.
I tried it again and again the same thing.
The call is disconnected.
I repeated the Process 8 to 10 times over next 40 minutes, and same thing.
Now point to be noted over here is that the IVR is asking for mobile number and not ticket ID. Hence there is no back tracking in the system through PNR. So Red Bus is not ready to accept that there is fault in the system.
This time I felt that I need to talk to some person and not machine. After Pressing 1 in IVR, I selected option 5 that is for any other query.
This time, it was a bit different. The phone was not directly disconnected but after two or three beeps it was disconnected.
Remember, its 06:40 AM in morning, I have to go at work, finish my regular activities and have other priorities too. But What i am doing. I am just trying to get some response from the so called Technology based company.
Finally at 07:00 I tried to drop a written complaint. And I opened the mobile APP. here I found the option Call Support. I tap on it and was surprised to know that the Customer Care number over here is different. It was[protected].
I tried on this number as well. The IVR was also similar and I again tried to cancel the ticket but in vain. For the last time I tried to connect and pressed 5 for other quries. Finally after 73 minutes I was able to talk some human from the IVR. The lady informed me that I cannot cancel the ticket as the deadline to cancel the ticket was 06:45 AM. Now the point to think over here is that, for a bus at 08:20 PM the 12 hours prior is 08:20 AM and not 06:45 AM. The operator has entire day to get replacement. Also I tried well before time but I was not able to cancel ticket due to Technical glitch in the system.
I asked the executive to escalate the request but she informed that all the supervisors / floor managers will be available after 08:00 AM. I was promised by her that her senior will call back me within next 6 hours. I dont know why she need 6 hours when her superior would be available in next 45 minutes. Fine, but I accepted.
I waited till 02:00 PM but no response. I again called back and this time I was again told the same BS story. They asked me to talk to the Operator.
I called on [protected] and asked the person to do the needful. Now this guy is ready to cancel the ticket but has no intent to return even partial amount. He took my seat number and all other details so that he is sure that this seat will be vacant. This shows he will sell the ticket at high price in the peak of weekend but has no ethics to return the amount. Dear all never travel in such travels. They may also leave you in the journey.
But being Indian I am not expecting any honesty or ethics from Travel and Transport companies. We all know thugs these people are.
I again called back the customer care and repeated entire story again. The lady named Shewta asked for one hour time so that she can check at her end. Fine being a tolerant passenger I agreed to the same.
20-25 minutes later I receive a call from Mr. Ganesh[protected] saying that he is from redbus and he cannot cancel the ticket. I again retold entire story to him and the foolish person is asking me why didnot you wrote mail to us in the morning itself.
Now, please understand at 06:00 AM in morning a person has to cancel his travel due to some emergency, then whether will write emails to support or will he directly call and cancel the tickets.
I am not expecting 100% refund, whatever may be the charges that redbus can deduct and return the amount.
In such personal problems going on, why I am writing all these things is because the intent of the company is not good. They claim themselves to be technology based company and yet behaving like paper-pen based organizations. In 2016, when everything is tech-based and I am not able to cancel a single ticket using different ways, its really pathetic.
Why should a consumer suffer when its Technical fault of the service providers. Even railways refund if there is any fault in their systems and these companies have no sense of operations.
If it had been any western country the consumer would have been rewarded for highlighting the system bugs but its India and nothing can change over here.
Mr. Prakash Sangam I really feel very sorry for you that you work for such dirty organisation.
