I had quite a good number of policies from ICICI General Insurance , since the policies were available online , and it appeared to be cheap , but it had become literally a stamped document worth nothing, and you will have to never get any reimbursements unless you go for a court case / ombudsman.
Let me explain 2 incidences …
One of the policies , 4034I/FFH/W-053939/03/000, taken on behalf of my sister in the year 2007, and there are absolutely zero claims till 2010 december. She had a backpain and had visited a network hospital of ICICI Lombard, Soundarypandian Bone and Joint Speciality Hospital.
The events with the timelines are listed below with time lines
25/10/2010: Informed ICICI Lombard on 25/10/2010 regarding Treatment , and we were advised to take claims after paying by cash , so that the treatment can be availed faster
29/10/2010: Date of discharge: 29/10/2010 Bill amount 24,000/INR approx
30/10/2010: Informed ICICI Lombard callcenter about patient discharge and requested claimforms, NO claimforms arrived for a week.
07/11/2010: Patient sought the help of internet and downloaded a claim form, and claimforms submitted through courier since no direct delivery address available, no receipt received. Claim Number :[protected]
18/11/2010: Documents received by ICICI Lombard, Hyderabad center , Inward receipt Number CL[protected]
08/12/2010: ( 21st days , As per policy all claims to be settled within 21 days ) A query was raised , asking for ORGINAL CONSULTATION PAPERS AND ORGINAL INVESTGATION REPORTS. In reality all document were submitted
27/12/2010: Collected the orginal Handwritten Consultatation from the doctors secetary , and submiited to ICICI-Lombard .
04/01/2011: ICICI lomard received the queried content alongwith reply vide Inward Claim CL[protected]
15/01/2011: Called ICICI Lomard and asked for details : Answer Still Under Process.
17/01/2011: Case escalated by self to next higher level internally. Agreed to provide a resolution within 10 days and settlement within 21 days.
19/02/2011: No resolution Yet, UNDER PROCESS: Approached Ombudsman with details.
Do you want to be left in the dark when in need ………. Please stay away from ICICI Lombard ……
Again for motor claims , ICICI will exclude Un-named passenger in the first year to show the premium less, but once you are with them they will load you with additional premiums which are not required …......... Customer , Friends …. Stay away ICICI ………..

ICICI Lombard — rejection of claim
sir i have purchased a endeavour car with icici car loans. on[protected]agent who has passed my loan requested me to make the insurace of icici lombard from him only
i agreed, he said he ill try to get some discounts for me.on the end of the day he made premium amt.
of rs.35014 and when i asked for discounts he old me to issue a chq.of rs.34000 on the name of icici lombard. i issued the chq. and he issued me a policy against it .car got under some accident and
claim was launched of rs.250000 . when claim was launched company told that they havenot recived
payment against this policy. when bank statements was presented they asked us to them time of 2 days
to solve out matter . after two days they told us that we have issued chq of rs 1014 which was bounced
on the end we came to know that the agent of icici lombard have issued chq from his own bank
because he was going to receive a big comision from policy in the mean time a problem may be created
in company and agent. so chq issued by agent was bounced. but company did not gave us any information regarding this matter and our payment of 34000 was not refunded and our claimhas been rejected
