I am owning a renault duster rxl 85 ps, which has run about 71k kms. I have personally encountered this problem thrice. Twice it was escalated to the service team (Khivraj renault - omr).
1st time - they told me, its a bleeding problem (Some kind of airlock).
2nd time - i informed them through phone, as i eventually forgot to inform in person, when the pickup guy came.
3rd time (Last time)- this is were, everything got worse. Driving to office with much more gear struck, i managed to reach the office parking area. After my office hours, when i started the car, i was unable to engage any of the gear, and the car did not move a bit.
I got frustrated, and knowing this is some kind of airlock, i tried pumping the clutch pedal in the hope of engaging any1 of the gear, so that i can come out of the office area to roadside area. I tried many times, nothing moved. At last, 2nd gear got engaged and i brought the car out of office premises, with the same gear. (Slow speed). It was already 8.00pm, i decided to call the road assistance (Tvs road assistance - really appreciating service). Since i need to travel some 40 kms from there, i need to go some nearby hotel to have my dinner. To my surprise when i started the car, every gear was engaging, the car acted like everything was ok (With little struck). I really don't know what was happening.
When the recovery van arrived, that guy was not able to engage any of the gears again. And with difficulty, we moved the car, and it was set on to the van, to carry to the service center.
Sad story to be continued..
The service person told me, i did not come to service my vehicle for 40k & 50k, so i may miss the warranty for certain parts that needs to be replaced.
But i left my car for 60k service, which was a complete service for rs 25k.
My estimated bill from service person is 36k now. He told me, the clutch may be worn out, or some bleeding problem. Master cylinders for clutch assy has to be changed.
My query to service personnel
Is it that if we miss any service, i cannot claim warranty? I cannot pay every 10k kms 30-40k. Service person should drive the car and inform me that so and so parts may impose problem in near future, and he should have given me a initial warning. How come in 60k service, the car showed me no clutch problem, and in 70k, the clutch gets worn out completely.?
If you people don't give any proper reason for this problem, (I knew it is common in mt transmission of all dusters). I am definitely gonna give a big comment.
Renault loots money in the name of service.
My thought of buying renault captur is shattered.
