THIS EMAIL WAS SENT ON 3 MARCH 2010 TO ALL THE EMAIL ADDRESSES MENTIONED ON THE MANUAL OF MY BIKE AND I STILL HAVE TO RECEIVE A REPLY. I WISH LAW AND ORDER FOR CONSUMERS IN INDIA WERE AS GOOD AS IT IS IN EUROPEAN AND WESTERN COUNTRIES.

    Dear Sir,

I had bought this Yamaha FZ16 on November 10, 2008. I have been very pleased with this bike all this while and this is one very well taken care of bike.

I have never sped it up above 60KM/hr and have never been involved in any rash driving. No screeching brakes or no instant acceleration have ever been a part of my driving.

This is my third bike after Karizma and Apache, so I am quite a biker myself and I know how to look after my bike to make it run smoothly in the long run and I am also well-aware of the technicalities related to my bike.

However, there have been an ongoing issue which I had reported right after my second service. The rear tyre of my bike is of inferior quality. There have been too many wear and tear issues with it which a tyre of this quality should not have, THAT TOO so quickly which is within 3-4 months. It has deteriorated so quickly that I am astonished at this rate.

This tyre has lost all its friction and the bike wobbles and loses control if the bike is slightly tilted on the turns. This tyre gets punctured twice a month at least and the previous punctures keep leaking too. At the same time, the front tyre has never got punctured on the same road and on the same stuffs, so I fail to understand that how come the rear tyre can get punctures so very often.

I have spent almost close to Rs. 2000 only on punctures which I know nobody is going to compensate. Had I been aware that I was going to spend Rs. 2000 on this tyre and that I would have to keep spending like this, I would have purchased a new tyre at this cost. But now, I have already spent this much money and I feel that I have not got what I have paid for.

As mentioned above, I had reported this issue right after my second service. I kept on showing the condition of my tyre to the service staff at the Prince Automobiles, Nangloi, Delhi service showroom (where I purchased my bike from), but they kept on insisting it was normal and that they wanted me to get the puncture job done again and observe the tyre. Thus, I spent all my free services and the time when something could actually have been done. And when the bike was close to being a year old, I was finally advised to contact MRF service center. As a customer, AM I SUPPOSED TO TAKE MY BIKE AROUND AND LOSE THE PRECIOUS AMOUNT OF TIME THAT I NEED TO SPEND AT MY WORK AND WITH MY FAMILY? IS IT MY RESPONSIBILITY TO CARRY THE BURDEN AROUND OF A FAULTY PRODUCT THAT I PURCHASED?

If you have a look at the pictures mentioned below, you will find the condition that why this is so bad and why it is even so dangerous for my life to keep using it:

I have never received a satisfactory solution and I have rather got a run around all the time. Having visited the MRF center myself, I was told that this tyre was getting worse in condition but this was not the tyre quality and it was the bike’s design that made the tyre rubbing at such a fast rate that the rubber got damaged. They gave me a letter that it is not the tyre’s quality but the bike’s design that is at fault. Now, at this stage, who am I to decide who is at fault; Yamaha or MRF? For me, you are the service provider and you should take the ownership to resolve the issue. I am deeply hurt and flabbergasted at this treatment that I have received after I recommended FZ to so many of my friends and relatives.

You can have a look at the scanned letter that I received from MRF stating that it is not the tyre quality.

I need a solution!! I do not need a tyre replacement but I want my bike to be replaced, so that as a customer I finally get what I have paid for, A RUNNING BIKE. Please look into and don’t force me to look for legal options. This may be just a Rs. 2500 or Rs. 3000 worth tyre for you but for me, this has now become a matter of principles and being right. And I will not give up!!!!

I hope to receive a positive quick response as soon as possible.

    Regards,
    Rahul Gautam

Yes, fz16 has tyre problem. Even my friend has spent a lot of money on punctures. They should give narrower rear tyre and rear disc brake option also.
i am subhajit biswas from kolkata . My bike has clocked 23000 kms and i have nearly 30 puncures . every month i get a flat tyre . this is frustrating i have to check my tyre pressure on every ride this affects the performance and mielege. I am very dissatisfied and need an alternate solution for replacing the tyre
its nt deir fault...u shud always chck d air of d tyre 1nce in a week...
my friend Rahul i'm also having the same problem with my bike, and my suggestion to you is go for RTI (Right To Information Act)

dear guys i am also having fz s and i am also facing simlar problem on punctures i have spend over 1000 rs still the issue is not fixing yamaha ppl have to give some warranty on the tyres
@ Rahul Gautam - Well said . same problem for every1 . i had put 15 punctures in 1 years. its more than cost of REAR Tyre . i am extremely dissatisfied with REAR Tyre make in Yamaha. but i didn't get single punctures in front Tyre . so change the brand or give any possible solution for fore coming customers.
hey guys.. even i m facing d same issue wid my FZ16.. The rear tyre started tearing soon after completing 7k-8k kms... its been a year since den. and i get a flat tyre at least once a mnth n for every time, i get at least 3-4 punctures found.. i hav already spent definitely more dan d cost of a brand new tyre.. i m even ready to change the tyre if MRF is not compatible wid FZ.. pls suggest if der is any other brand of tyre dat suits for FZ...
Hi ... This is a common problem for the rear tyre which FZ is fitted wth.. If you can opt for a new tyre then I would suggest any of the below:
    1. Dunlop - Tuff Grip
    2. Pirelli SD
Both comes with good handling in wet & dry conditions and also punctures are rare...

    GOMZI...
even I am facing similer issue. 25 punctures in less than 4 months! I also changed the wall twice so in all I spent more than INR 2500 on this tyre. I guess I will do the same, will go to MRF first and then will right to Yamaha and if there is no good results have to file a consumer case.
Rahul, please reply or send me an email if possible about your progress and any new experiance on this matter..
    I am Atul from Faridabad.
I also owned FZ16 in Nov-08. Rear tyre is really not good. So many puntchers till date and Zero reliability.
No hearing on this in Authorised Service centers. Now looking for another one.
Hi Guys, Even M facing this issue from last 2.5 yrs n I will going or te 3rd tyre now. However this time I will go for a different company instead. Have got info that have Dunlop in the same size which is not a Radial Tyre so not gonna give that wide look and a friend of mine have opt that and is very happy with the performance, and have Conti which is used for CBR 250. I am abit confused coz still am gonna check about other options like Pirelli SD and Michelin.
I hate this Goddamn tire, getting punctured at least thrice a month...drawback of Yamaha Fz
I am shalabh and I am also having the same problem
The only thing is my bike is just 4 months old and am having about 11 punctures
In the rear tyre and I have only covered 2000 kms.
I went to the showroom (mp moters ) in Pune where I purchased my bike, they gave me a letter and told me to go to mrfs service center . When I reached the mrfs center I was told to wait for 5 mins which eventually were 40 mins of waiting.when the inspection of my bikes rear tyre was over the manager told me there is no problem with my rear tyre and it is normal to have MORE THAN 10 PUNCTURES IN 4 MONTHS and my tyre will not be replaced cos it does not have any manufacturing defect .and he even told me that fzs tyre last for only about[protected] kms and you have to change your tyre after that .
This stupid was even telling me that you should have you should have taken the bikes tyre out first and then should have come for inspection .wasted my time and did nothing
Pathetic mrf people .mrfs stop fooling your costumers.
This is happening to me also friends. I have a fzs bike which is not even 1 year old and rode for just 15, 000Kms. Its getting punctured frequently and almost thrice to 4 times i need to fill the air else mileage is dropping. Really, this is a very very bad feedback about yamaha and wondering why they aren't focusing on this issues at least in the new releases. The same problem is retaining in each and every releases. the change only they do is just graphics which even a Tenth class passed out also can do. Apart from that all the defects we can see in 2020 RELEASE Version also...
guys go for the conti go 140/70/17 for the rear . . its a lovely tire and offers beautiful grip . . i upgraded to it recently i wanted to go for tufgrip from dunlop but was having a tough time gettin hold of one. but am really happy with the one am using now . . in case u haven't noticed . . its the rear tire that cbr 250 uses. the bike felt a little heavy at first but u get used to it in a couple of days. . the stance is much better and the grip way better ! again it depends from person to person but i would definitely recommend this one. do not go for mrf .., i mean i[censored] plan to change ur tire, why not give another brand a try right. and continental s no bad brand either .. cheers and drive safe !
Guys I had.Yamaha fz for last 2 years my rear tire has fully gone and I need to change my tire.pleas let.me.know.which tire.is.better Michelin or Pirelli or mrf please
Hi, I am Paritosh from Pune

I am also facing same problem. My bike has reached 14k kms and tyres are really in bad condition. Shopkeepers are saying that replacement is the only option now. It had nearly 12 punctures and spent more than Rs 1800 till now.
Its really frustrating if you see 2 to 3 punctures every week.
FZ is the most costly 150 cc bike in the market with such low quality of tyres and I must say that I would not recommend this bike to any one else.
Now planning to purchase continental product.

      Dear M'am/Sir,

This is to inform that i have purchased Yamaha R15 on 9th Jan 2010.

The Bike was given for regular 1st servicing. Post servicing, fuel leakage over the engine portion was observed which was immediately brought to the notice of the same centre. The bike was handed over for rectification of whatever issue on 21st Feb 2010 and was collected back on 23rd with an assurance from the Yamaha repair representative that the problem was rectified and would not reoccur.

The leakage is observed again and again for the 2nd time the bike was taken for checking today (8th March 2010) morning and the information shared was " that this is a manufacturing defect and such defect has been observed for the 1st time. photographs of the faulty section to be taken and sent to Yamaha head quarters so that the main Yamaha representative would identify and fix the problem".

the bike was taken to the centre again in the evening and yet another representative has now assured repair and delivery of the bike by tomorrow (9th March 2010).

would appreciate your kind intervention in the matter to assure that the fault is repaired and would not reoccur.

high service quality is expected from a reputed brand like yours and genuine service with quick TAT is anticipated. after paying such a high price for a premium bike and travelling to and fro every time for any small or big issue is not a feasible value for a bike and brand like this.

please confirm assurance or you can guide me to higher authorities for escalation so that the matter is taken up more seriously and we feel the worth of being your customer.

      photographs attached for your reference.

      awaiting your revert!

      thanks & regards,

          HI,

I have purchased Yamaha Crux motorcycle on 03.03.2010 from M/S MSP MOTO WORLD;NO 215;100 Ft RING ROAD;2nd BLOCK ;3rd Phase;BANASHANKARI;THIRD STAGE;WARD NO 54;BANGALORE – 560085;KARNATAKA Contact person:Rajesh. The on road price for this vehicle is Rs.42500/- since we put up in Mandya District we want mandya registration adn after excluding road tax and smart card charges the value of the vehicle is Rs.38989/- where as the dealer has given the TAX INVOICE for Rs.36490-/- which is ex-showroom price. when i asked Mr.Rajesh and the owner of the show room they were telling no body will give invoice for on road price where as i own Suzuki zeus bike where the value is Rs.48144/- and i got the TAX Invoice for full amount mentioning Ex-showroom price+tax+registration and Road tax+Insurance and this is the procedure of raising the invoice but this yamaha showroom is cheating the governament by not giving the invoice for full amount. with this they will be getting lots non taxable income.

Here by i am requesting in front of Consumer forum to take necessary action on this showroom and do the needfull forus and for governament.

I have had same experience.. But I blasted at them and kept my bike. I had different horrible experience with this showroom. Once I booked my bike by giving token amount of Rs 1000, I started having horrible experiences. 1. If I am making payment through card, I have to pay 2% extra? Is it a rule? end up paying 2% extra on total cose. 2) e-Stamp paper is not accepted and only Rs 100 stamp paper is accepted.. WTF? e-stamp is government recognized stamp paper. had to pay 300 extra for this. 3) the total bill amount was lesser than the actual amount paid. (some means of corruption and tax saving techniques) 4) after the bike is sold, i was facing gear problem. they said it happens once in thousand bike and they cant do anything.. bloody a$$hole. was not I supposed to get new bike in exchange of this.. anyhow they made some adjustments but still the originial problem persisits like false neutral etc.

            Respected Sir,

I own a Yamaha R15 since July 2008. I am very irritated by the service provided by the Yamaha Service centre. ie (Akar Yamaha Motors 216 Mission Compound Ajmer Road Jaipur)

I complained before every service about the air leakage in both the wheels. I need to refill tyres every alternate days. When I made a complaint at the time of service they never took it seriously. They used to fill the tyres at that time and used to say that the problem will not reoccur but actually the problem was never solved.

We even made a complaint to their engineer as well as to regional office jaipur but no one took interest to solve the problem permanently. They told us that you need to go to MRF centre because this is not our issue, they said that the tyres are fitted by MRF but when I got it checked there they told me that there is no problem in the tyres there is problem with the wheel and the rims.

When I told them that I will make a complain in consumer court they took interest for the first time but still the problem is not resolved. They asked me to go to a local mechanic eveytime I face a problem and told me that you need to refill your tyres every week otherwise the problem will reoccur and we will not be responsible for this. They even charged me for trying to resolve the problem and I have the BILL proof for the same.My bike is in warranty period then why am i charged for technical default by the company.

I am fade up with the service provided by Yamaha. Its mental torture for me. I just want Yamaha to take their motorcycle back pay back my money and mental peace if they are not able to provide proper service.

                    Sir/madam,
i am a consumer of yamaha, currently using two yamaha motor bikes Rx135(1999 model) and a Fz16(2009). I bought ma fz on 7th jan 2009 from yamaha Bargarh. My running is too low and have covered only 6000 km in last one year.
10th of this month i met an odd incident. I was on ma fz on a state highway on a speed of 76 km/hr when my rear tyre(140 section tubeless) bursted out with an explosion without any cause. Luckly i survived a major accident.
I reported this problem to the yamaha dealer, but as usual not only they reacted like ignorant but also didnt do anything to care my problem. Then i directly contact the MRF people and send my tyre for inspection but their reasults are not only disheartning but when i talked to their service engineer he refused to take any kind of responsibility even if it might have costed me my life.
Now if you are using this kind o[censored]nhealthy products which can cause loss of lives then stop menufecture those products.
I am not only going for a consumer case againt MRF but also against YAMAHA.
By the way i am myself a mechanical engineer, so hope some responsible action from YAMAHA.

                    Sir,
The two tyres which we procured five months back one among them is wearing out inordinately and the agent who sold the same though initially agreed to supply FOC fresh tyres have back tracked presently for, we were told to change the tyres initially to change the tyres and find out whether the same is happening in the other tone. Since the changed tyre is found intact we presume that the quality of rubber is compromised. Where are we to go and whom are we to approach for the genuine redressal of our grievances. The tyres are procured vide JAS Tyre Mannarkkad bearing No . [protected] Please advise suitably failing which we would be approaching the consumer protecting forum
Even I am using YAMAHA FZ-S. I have covered around 5600 on my bike in 5 months & I go for rides on good roads only. But suddenly one day the rear tyre of my bike got punctured & it got so badly punctured that the tyre has got torn almost 2-3 cms. The tyrre can't be mended now, I'll have to buy a new one. This time I'm gonna buy a PIRELLI tyre & not MRF.

yes, my dear friends u all r right that MRF tyre is worst for yamaha fz-s. firstly i change my new tyre in 3 months afterwards i bought one more MRF tyre that tyre used only 14000kms.now i bought new PIRELLI tyre it is nice for my bike & we want to put more amount to that tyre it exactly cost around 6000 for both front & rear .(USE ONLY PIRELLI TYRE FOR YAMAHA FZ)

I got a FZ 6 months back and the rear tyre has got 9 punctures till date. Done 6000 kms till now. the last puncture has turned out 2 ba big tear whic is almost 3cms long. I have to go for new tyres now. Decided to fit a Pirelli SuperDemon upsize 140/70. MRF tyres are the worst in the market for bikes and cars.
Even i too facing same problem with tyres

I own a Yamaha FZ16 for the past one year, i have been servicing the bike on time and through autorised dealers/ service center's. but never was i once satisfied with the service. My bike is still under warrenty and around a month and a half ago the speedo meter got faulty, it wouldnt work, keeps blinking. so along with my seventh servicing, i asked them to change the faulty part, but as the stock wasent available then, they asked me to come back. now it has been almost two months and they still keep postponing. have also tried speaking to Mr. Omkar [protected], who is supposed to be the manager or owner, but he did not giv any importance to my problem also.
                      the dealer is,

                        Dear Sir,
It is important to clean and lubricate your FZ chain on a regular basis. The life of the chain tends to get effected when it is not looked after and lose chain are symtoms of it not being looked after.
Please ask your dealer to lubricate the chain properly after cleaning. If you are based in Delhi you could visit any of our workshop for immediate attention. Thanks

                          Hello there,

I have a Yamaha RXZ bike and there is no such problems so far. It have a very fine performance. But one of my deep agony is that, no spares have been selling for this bike as it is discontinued. This model have been stopped on 2003. There are only few shops that sells its spare parts and now they says that Yamaha is not accepting their order for its spare parts. I have read in their official site that their motto is "Customer satisfaction". We are also a customer of Yamaha that are running in trouble. They are only concentrating on their new models like FZ15,gladiator etc. Right now they are just ignoring customers like us and make us to dump our bikes. I was only wanting for an RPM meter now. Atleast they can accept our orders and no matter deliver us within a month. But this is actually ridiculous. There is no such "contact us" in their official site where I can lodge my complaint. So I just warn any of the Yamaha customers, be it R15, FZ etc , one day you will also face the same issue that we are facing now. This company is not at all dependable on their products. So think before you are taking any Yamaha bikes.

I bought new yamaha fazer on 13 jan 2010.
the engine of the motorcycle vibrates too much, which i can feel in my hands through the handle while riding the motorcycle.

i have checked other yamaha fazers and found tha such vibration was not there in other bikes, implying that there is some problem in my fazer's engine/piston

kindly change the engine as it is in the warranty period.

moreover, there is no complaint link in yamaha india site.

I have bought Yamaha R15 four months back & since then there is a problem in the rear wheels where the air is leakage. I have been following up with Excellent Yamaha in Andheri (E) for it & they have not been able to help me with sorting this out. This is the worst service I have ever seen. People out there are not at all serious regarding client issues.

This is India. There is no such thing as customer service here, whichever company bike you buy. Once you pay the cash, then both company and dealer forget you; because they are busy attracting (cheating) more new customers. When you buy a product, just check if it has any defects at the time of purchase and hope for the best. The least you can do before buying any bike/car in India is personally meet existing owners of the bike/car and take their feedback regarding the product. All companies deliver new vehicles only in the evening time, this is done to so that customer cannot spot scratches and small defects in the vehicle.

My name is D.C.Thomson from KALPAKKAM working in Department of Atomic Energy. I bought a FZ16 motorbike from Sivaraj Karthik Enterprises, PONDICHERY on 05/02/09. within 6 months my rear tyre has got crack all around the bottons in right side, often i used to check the air pressure.I complaint through phone and by person to the dealer about the tyre, they had taken the photos of the tyre and told me that they will mail to YAMAHA and MRF company for warranty, and also told that every month MRF service engineers will come to yamaha service center that time we will call u and u can come and show ur tyre. but YAMAHA dealers had never called me, i only always call them but there response was very poor.then june 5th i went for service that time they taken the tyre and give to MRF dealer for warranty. after 1 week they told that ur tyre has been rejected because it has 2 punctures, so v wil never give replacement. the 1st puncture was with in 1 month of the purchase and the other was on may 2010 only.. this was not my mistake, i was telling for 6 months if they had taken action when i complained i would have got warranty on my tyre but now it is not got, this is because of YAMAHA dealer only...

Around 25 days i am going to office with my friends bike only.

Then the mileage is also very poor. Service also very poor.
I kindly request u to take step for this as early as possible.

I am from Goa residing in Margao. I had given my bike Yamaha Fz16 for repairs at Karpe Motors in Margao since i claimed insurance due to accidental damages. The Bike was given on the 21st December 2009 and after a month the work has been done. The expenses have come to 9673rs and they are charging me Rs3000 extra just for the labour. Its like 30% of the bill im paying is just for the labour which is not fair at all. All im asking you is to please look into this matter and kindly contact the dealer or take the nessesary steps
