I had purchased my Hyundai i10 with registration number MH03-BE-9298 on 5th July 2012 from Shreenath Hyundai, Near Shoppers Stop, Ghatkopar East. Since then till today, the car has kept giving me the same trouble regularly.
While driving normally, the engine suddenly trembles and the car shuts off. All the lights on the dashboard go on, and the engine dies. On turning the key again, it starts back up, but I have to keep racing the car, even in traffic, to ensure that it does not die again. After stopping like this a few times, the problem disappears and I’m able to drive normally. I have spent over Rs. 25, 000 in the past two years to service the car at Modi Hyundai Car Agencies, Vidya Vihar. My service advisors were named Firoz, Rizwan and Subramani.
Each time, they are only able to temporarily solve the issue. At least on 4 separate occasions, I have had the car towed away from random locations on the road, because it had stopped over 20 times each, and even refused to start back again.
I always hoped that each new advisor would have encountered a similar complaint before, and would be able to solve it. But now I have given up. I want an answer from the very top of Hyundai. Either replace my vehicle with a new one, or give me a replacement while my car is taken away for a thorough inspection and resolution. I also need money back for each time the car went for servicing with the car being towed away and yet the problem not being resolved. Do look into this matter with utmost seriousness.
Do note that I have always kept the car well serviced, in terms of battery, engine oil, coolant, air filter, spark plug and so on. I have never missed a single service.
An interesting observation is that this problem occurs more when the AC is off. Though my car is fitted with a CNG kit, this problem occurs in petrol mode too, so please don’t use that as an excuse to put the fault on my back. Looking forward to an honest and diligent resolution to my two-year-long battle with my Hyundai car. I am at my wit’s end now with this problem, as it has often left me stranded when attending to urgent duties, both personal and professional. Please tell me who will solve my problem.
