    Dear Sir/Mam.

    I had booked 3 tickets in Aug 2008 for travel between Del-Agra under PNR [protected]. These tickets were on a Waitlisted basis and as only 1 out the 3 tickets got confirmed before the train departure, I requested the Customer care centre via call to cancel all 3 tickets as no such option was available on the website.
    I was assured that as no one would travel under the ticket, the total amount of 2100 would be refund to my credit card.
    The claim has been approved by Railway admin, but I have not received a refund till date. All my calls to the customer care centre have gone in vain as everyone seems to be passing the buck to another department.
    I request Railways to please look into this matter and solve it asap.

    IRCTC — Non Payment of Refund amount

    Hello,

    on 15/05/2010, while booking for 2 tickets on JETLITE flight from Gauhati to Kolkata, an amount of Rs 5,917.00/- was debited from my credit card account, even though no purchase took place.

    as such the amount needs to be refunded, but nothing has happened from ur side for the last 20 days.
    i have called the customer service number and mailed the support id, a number of times, but to no avail

    last time when i called ur service centre number on 2/06/2010, ur call centre executive named Dipesh told me that the refund amount would be reflected in my account within 2 days. but nothing has happened.

    need u to look into the matter

      i am the regular traveller by railways, particularly Central Railways, and i have personally experienced that most of the stalls/canteens situated on the platforms are charging more than the MRP price of the products like for cold drinks they charge Rs.25/- instead of MRP of Rs.22/- only, when we argue the justification is given that they are charign more for keeping it in the cold condition.....
      is it fare.. because the the stall/canteen keeps the products in cold condition so that public can purchase it ... otherwise no one would touch their cold drinks.
      in respect of other products like chips, biscuits etc. they give the justification they have to pay to the concerned officers of the railway station to give way to the particular train to the particular platform.....

      Indian Railway — charging more for foods

      At shornur Railway station, in Kerala the catering peoples are charging high for foods and tea. They are charging Rs5/- for tea and Rs 6/- for one vada. At least they should have answer politely when asking about the price.
      Chennai Central Local train platform 12, 13, 14. All Food Stalls Charges cool drinks MRP price is 25 rupees and they are selling it to 30 rupees ... Food stall pricing list shows All cool dings price is per MRP . But they are charging more than 5 rupees .. is railway authorities aware of this ..

        Sorry for the inconvenience. Kindly note that your refund case of PNR No. [protected] has been forwarded to CCM/South Eastern Railway on dt.21.05.09. We have already issued Reminder No. 1 dt.03.10.09 to concerned railway to chase up the case. But despite reminder refund yet not received from the concerned railway. Now we are sending a Reminder No. 2 dt.11.11.09 with all the papers pertaining to your refund case to concerned railway to chase up the cases. As soon as refund, if any, received it will be credited to your card account.

        Such above mention email i recieved more than 6 time and always they forward the concerning department but still showing the status ADMIN APROVED AND UNDER PROCESS, IS IT NOT ENOUGH TIME TO PROCESS TDR? THIS MATTER SHOULD BE INVESTIGATE BY NEUTRAL ORGANISATION.THERE HAVE HUNDRED AND THOUSAND COMPLAINT REGARDING TDR AND AUTORITY ARE SILENT

        3. WHEN I SPOKE TO RAILWAY CUSTOMER CARE, THERE SAY IT IS A ISSUE FROM IRCTC AND VICE VERSA, , ...

        NEED SOME ONE TO LOOK INTO THIS AND ARRANGE TO REFUND MY AMOUNT WITH OUT ANY FURTHER DELAY.

          Dear sir,

          I filed a TDR for refund on IRCTC.CO.IN as my train SHATABADI from New Delhi to Amritsar got cancelled in between the journey at Ambala because of Riots in Punjab.

          The PNR no for that is [protected] and I filed it on 27-May-2009.

          Its Admin has been approved as it is a very valid reason for cancelation.

          Please kindly help me to get payment of my tdr back as it is pending for more than 6 mnths.

          I wrote many times to TDR deptt. but they replied just once, sir its a matter a great regret that a passenger has to write so many times for the refund and still has to wait.

          sir, such delay in my rightful claim from railways is discouraging me to use the services of ralways for internet bookings.

          I had filed a TDR on 21st July 2010 through IRCTC for refund of fare (PNR # [protected]) as the train was running late for more than three hours and we had not travelled.
          Till date I have not received the refund in spite of multitude of email and phone reminders nor have I received an explanation...

          Every time i hav been getting explation from your customercare representative as " i forwarded ur file to respective raiway zone"

              Unable to book Tatkal tickets

              Although there are 536 complaints available on IRCTC in this forum, has any action taken on it to rectify the problem. I am fed up booking any Tatkal tickets in IRCTC. I have never booked any Tatkal ticket, The IRCTC people are deliberately blocking the site exactly at 8 AM every morning. Are they just providing a service for the agents.               Dear Sir/ Madam,

              This is regarding to our TDR File on dated 26/11/2008, Regarding to our reservation E-Ticket dated 26/08/2008 Transaction ID- [protected] PNR No.[protected] for dated 29/08/2008 and Train No. 2801 (Purushottam Exp.) but Train was Late by 7 hours at Boarding Destination at Allahabad Junction so I did not take the train and Ticket could not be cancelled due to Chart Prepared so I Cancelled the Ticket by TDR File, against this cancellation I received only Half payment of Rs. 735/- against the Ticket amount of Rs. 1470/-. They have ensured me that the balance payment will be refunded soon but after contineus reminders no action taken. All the correspondance E-mail between IRCTC & me regarding refund are pasted below for your reference. So you are requested to look into the matter and take justified action.

                Today i tried to book ticket from Chennai central to Erode and Chennai central to Coimbatore. I entered into the payment gateway and once i gave pay it shows some page without any proper link or proper message. But the payment got deducted from my account. And i tried to relogin to the website it shows service unavailable. And again i tried to book the ticket second also i got the same page and the amount is also deducted from the account. Totally i lost 1176Rs.(639 + 537) . At last i booked the ticket in WL37 & WL38. Here with i attached the page screenshot which i got from the website. I want you to file a case and stop IRCTC website immeditily and stop do the needful to the public. I hope u received the performance related complaints day to day. Public are facing problems and the agents are getting profits. So take necessary action immeditily.

                Can somebody from irctc teach me how to book tickets from a blank webpage? Thats what I am seeing whenever i try to book tickets on tatkal.
                IRCTC is totally waste site Indian railway should through it away and launch their own portal

                IRCTC — Poor website performance

                Indian Railways website (www.irctc.co.in) was so pathetic which works fine only once a blue moon.

                It takes so long to login, most of the time website will be down. And the performance of the site is deteriorating day by day. It takes more than 30 mins to just book one ticket. Forget about booking tatkal on irctc it never happened to me.

                Please take action. Fix the problems.

                  Hi,

                  I am a regular traveler and use IRCTC for booking online tickets. But, I have seen that Tatkal reservation is all mess. It’s merely an application only for name sake.

                  The application will work fine before 8 am and the moment the tatkal reservation time starts, it stops working. I have tried on multiple occasions for different trains and multiple times but its all same. When the game is all over and there are no tickets left then it will start working.

                  But, what the use…?

                  There are no more tickets left.

                  Its all IRCTC corrupted employees, Indian railways booking counter employees and Travel agents who are making money by black marketing the tickets and making fool of this system.

                  Hope there is any one in this country who can solve this problem.

                      The site seems to be useless, as most of the times it doesn't work. And specially when I tried to book my tickets in tatkal I log into irctc from 6 am morning but as soon as its 8 am the server goes down and remains down for 5 minutes and finally when the page opens reservation status is reached 100+ waiting.
                      I would suggest its better to close this site, because anyways its of no use. Rather provide the phone numbers of agents so that it would be a straight deal.
                      WHY TO SHOWOFF RIGHT??????

                      True the same has happneded with me also many a times. It seems they are running some racket. they close the tatkal reservations for general public and they themselves do the reservation from back door. :( chrging some extra money.

                        Dear Sir,
                        I have booked through IRCTC and am a Senior Citizen also. But unfortunately all the three times it was allotted Upper Berth vide PNR Nos.[protected];[protected];[protected] dt.11.11.2009.

                        I hav to cancel the above e-tkts with a loss and more to that my money not yet deposited back into my account.

                        I am here surprised about the railway booking package logic about allotting Upper berth to senior citizen. on 13th I went to booking counter and appraised with the booking clerk for allottment of at least middle berth and got it !

                        Hence kindly look into my complaint and repay me the amount loss due to cancellation of three PNRs coz no fault on my part. The top most priority may be given to get lower berth for the deseving people.

                        Dear Sir,

                        Recently the railway advance ticket booking counters have been shifted to new entrance in Tirunelveli Junction railway station.

                        It never planned with humanitarian consideration to make it easy for the physicallly challenged traveller and senior citizens.

                        Like that here in this railway junction, theres no slope route facility for the aged travellers and senior citizens for crossing the platforms through bridges with ramps!

                        No ramp or slope path made here which will facilitate such category of travellers to book their tickets in advance.

                        Will the authorities take some step to implement such facility here ?

                          I try to book a train ticket under TATKAL. normaly TATKAL booking will open at 8am. when i try to book at 8am it says," sorry tatkal booking open after 8hrs" even at 8:20 also the same message, after it comes up with Waiting list 50" what stupit is this?. Bloody . This is purely Southerrailway FRAUD.they sell the tickets for the Agency with some commissions.

                          IRCTC and The agents are definatly involved in this this seems to be a very technical fraud there must be the IT teams who manages the IRCTC portals also invloved in this . really all are & corrupts,

                          They must be only giving acces to the Agnet IP address and limited access to public site.or blocking the public portal till all ticke gets booked.

                          Ths is happening from so many months but nobody pays attention to this because Ministers & Beurocraft s doesnt required to book the tickets online. this will keep on happening. we will keep on crying always.
                          I completely agree with the opinions given by Christopher H, chadraprakash and mady403. I am aware that your article is three years old. However, the situation is the same in this front even after so many years. This indicates the extent of corruption and why India can abandon its utopia of transforming itself as developed economy. These hooligans are vexing the very customers who are responsible for their existence in order to earn underhand money. I would not go to the extent of stating that these hooligans ought to be paraded naked in front of the very public they have been harassing. Having said that, what choice do we have?

                            I forgot the irctc password but i remember the login id and i try to retrieve the password by the option provided at the bottom, after entering the necessary information it notified that the necessary information is send to your email id. but i not yet received any email about it. And i tried by calling to customer care they said to send the email to [protected]@irctc.co.in. after emailed about my problem also i not yet received any email regarding the problem. so please understand my urgency and send me the solution.

                              Hi ,
                              I want say that IRCTC site should be permanent close on 8:00AM to 9:00 AM. Since it is standared time for tatkal booking and in this time if any one can book ticket he will not success. Because upto this time the IRCTC site always shows "Service unavailable". I dont think so IRCTC is planning to use any Load Balancer for this time.
                              Can IRCTC guys tell me that they are thinking any thing for this time.

                              Please peaople escalte this upto IRCTC prople.

                                when I try to book indian railway ticket online. The ticket booking is allowed only after 8 A.M. And when I try to book it, for next half hour or so, it does not allow me to book ticket saying "services unavailable". And when after half hour when it allows me to go ahead with booking / shows page, all the tickets in tatkal quota are alloted and sold. Its easy on behalf of railways to say that all the people try to book at the same time, therefore the server is flooded and hence some clients face problem for booking. But on other side I suspect there is a racket going on, between railways booking / IT staff and ticket booking agents. They might be blocking common people from booking tickets purposefully for some time, so that ticket agents get and advantage in booking the same.
                                OR alternatively it can also be concluded that the servers are not effectively managed and is not capable to handle lakhs o[censored]ser enquiries/booking requests at the same time. Hence there is a need to upgrade server capacity and/or to upgarde overall infrastructure/technology.

                                Hi,

                                I totally agree with the above comment. If the servers are flooded with lakhs o[censored]sers at the same time then how come the server says "Service not available after making the payment "which automatically goes to the failed transaction state" which is a real pain. IRCT should enhance its service or should have a control on their agent booking. Citizens cant afford to spend money on failed transactions.

                                  Here i m sachin agarwal from bhilwara.On behalf of all pepoles of Rajasthan & MP i want to tell u a problem in train reservation of train no 9656.
                                  As above From 1st nov railway expand the train 9656 from Ajmer JN to Bhopal JN which was previously running between Ajmer Jn to Ratlam Jn. IRCTC/Railway starts the train from 1st nov but doesnt updated its server so upto 7-8th nov pepoles are not able to book ticket for bhopal.After much complaints railway updated its server for return train (Bhopal JN to Ajmer Jn 9655) but upto 18th nov railway doesnt updated its server for train 9656.the train 9656 is showing only from Ajmer to Ratlam which is running between Ajmer to Bhopal..So one who wants to travel Ajmer to Bhopal Have to Buy ticket to Ratlam and then get his own setting for afterward journey..

                                  I[censored] can send our plea to Railway about the following problem we will be very thankful to u.
                                  I have mailed about this problem to railway but there is no responce.

                                  Whenever i try to book throuh IRCTC in Plan my tavel page after filling up all the necessary fields it saying unable to retrive train list... so that i cant reserve ticket

                                    on 23-10-09 we were suppose to go to Hyderabad.But because of the pipeline which has fallen in thane made our journey cancelled n the train has departured from kalyan instead from cst.The refund money we were suppose to get.We didn't got yet.The ticket details are as follows pnr no:[protected]. transaction id :[protected] passengers were.1.jayasree,2.soumya,3.swathi.

                                    On 30-11-09 I was supposed to travel from Mangalore Central to Bangalore City by train no.6518 Yesvantpur Express. Since I was in waiting list I could not perform the journey on that day. When I tried to cancel the ticket I got the message that wait listed ticket can not be cancelled. The details of Ticket are indicated below.

                                    Refund of the amount I am supposed to get.
                                    I am sorry to state that on 9 February 2010 I have booked for my AC 2 tire Ticket for HOWRAH JN(HWH) to GUWAHATI(GHY) vide Pnr Number [protected], Transaction ID [protected] for journey to be started on 20 March 2010.
                                    The Railway authority could not provide any accomodation due to their allotment to the pre-ocupied Head Quater Quota or may be other reasons as may be seen by calling final chart as published on 20March2010.
                                    Further, I am to state that after elapsing of 119 hours from the time of chart preparation as on (Saturday, Mar 20, 2010 at 11:50 AM) IRCTC could not arrange to refund the amount as due to me resulted in loss of interest on my account since 9 February 2010 to till date. It is my hard earned money no body has authorised to use my fund. Accordingly, I have submitted my claim (Wed, Mar 24, 2010 at 10:12 AM) towards loss of interest.
                                    In reply dated 23 April 2010 (5.30 pm) Shri Naresh Singh representative of care/irctc stated that "the same will be refunded to your respective account shortly" and advised me "requested to use the Refund status Tracking service Provided by the IRCTC. Select the <Refund Status> link in the left panel under <My transaction>. on the plan my travel page after you log in to www.irctc.co.in giving your userid and password". Accordingly, I checked the site and found that refund approved but no money has been credited in my account.
                                    Instantly, I requested to submit standard time required to process refund considering the time taken to debit my account at the time of booking of a ticket by IRCTC. Further, in reply dated 24 April 2010 (7.08 pm) Mr. M Haque another representative of IRCTC, stated "Kindly note that in a wait list ticket if all the passengers remains wait list even after chart preparation, then the customer need not to apply to IRCTC for cancellation and refund. Cancellation will be executed by the system automatically after chart preparation and refund will be credited with in 4 to 5 working days electronically in the respective account".
                                    Considering reply dated 24 April 2010 (7.08 pm) and Comments in this site as appeared regarding delay in refund on 25 April 2010 (9:49 AM ), I enquired that "who has fixed the 4 to 5 working days to credit refund in the respective account and asked the name of authority to fix the stated standard quoting the order No and date". Further I am to state that penalty provision or clerical charges is as per decesion of Ministry of Railways. However, whether the standered time 4 to 5 working days to credit refund is approved by the Ministry of Railways. In addition it is to be submitted that the Railway Authority/IRCTC debited Agency Charges, Fare and interest/service charges by the Bank instantly on the date of booking the ticket. Moreover, Railway Authority will also deduct an amount in the name clerical charges. Then why the Railway Authority/IRCTC will not consider the payment of loss of interest towards delay in refund of Principal Amount. In addition, fixing of 4 to 5 working days to credit refund in the respective account is not in favour of customer compare to instant debit of amount by the Railway Authority/IRCTC/BANK as IRCTC recovered Service charges from the Customer. As per Indian Contract Act No consideration no Contract. Hence why IRCTC will not entertain the reimbursement of loss of interest to the Customer.
                                    The object of Railway Authority/IRCTC is to penalise to the the customer? Hence, again I have requested the IRCTC authority kindly entertain my claim towards loss of interest as incurred on my Principal amount.
                                    Now I am to request through this site that loss of interest to the customer due to delay in fund should be a Rule for customer satisfaction and benefit by recovering the amount from the concerened employee/officer of Railway as a measure of penalty.
                                    In addition the policy regarding allotment of booking on the name of Headquater's quota should be reviewed and removed immediately.

                                      It has been been my practical experience with the above site, while doing online booking (www.irctc.co.in), especially in TATKAL category.

                                      Whenever I login on the site to do Tatkal booking, the site mysteriously depicts "Services Unavailable" message from dot 8.00 am to around 8.10 am. The same site works properly till 7.59.59 am and as soon as the clock strucks 8.00 am, we get the "Service Unavailable" message. And when the site comes up after some time, all we see is "Tickets Unavailable" or "Waiting Lists".

                                      This has happened around 4 times with me. I can take 1 time as a coincidence, but 4 times is tooo may coincidences.

                                      Also, there was a complaint in Newspapers, that many a time the servers are delibertely shut down by some dirty elements within the Railway itself, to let the big Online Agent have the tickets. How can anyone explain the facts, that in non peak time, tickets to the tune of 270+ be booked in 5 mins.

                                      It;s time that the railways take notice of this. OTHERWISe shut down the bloody servers.

                                      This is exactly my experience. I have tried several times to book tickets. But at 08.00 a.m. the server of irctc mysteriously turns off with the message service unavailable. Whether tatkal booking or 90 days advance reservation, every time it is the same situation. Mrs. Mamata banerjee should do something to catch the culprit responsible for such fraud and punish him'her.
                                      I got the message while trying to book tatkal ticket.

                                      'Sorry we can book ticket after 08:00 Hours' .
                                      - 08:00 Hours in which time zone ( Is I
                                      - IRCTC does not display the current time ( So you do not have any chance to know when does the clock in irctc tick 08:00 )
                                      - Service unavailable between 08:00 - 08:20 ( Here again a wild guess regarding 08:00 AM. do not know when it is )
                                      - For some trains the tatkal seats available for the 4th day comes to 2 digits from a whopping 3 digit number (e.g In Konark Express, tatkal seats available for the 5th day is 167, but tatkal seats available for 4th day is 12 !!! . And you guessed it right tatkal seats available for 3rd is 2 digit waiting list number )
                                      WHY THERE IS NO STOPPAGE OF RAJDHANI IN BARDDHMANN JUNCTION. IT CREATES A LOT OF PROBLEM FOR PEOPLE TRAVELLING IN RAJDHANI . ITS VERY BAD TO THINK THAT THERE ARE ONLY TWO STOPPAGE IN WEST BENGAL FOR RAJDHANI. I WOULD LIKE TO REQUEST YOU TO MAKE A STOPPAGE OF RAJDHANI IN BARDDHAMAN JUNCTION ALSO.
