I availed train no. 2863 on 09.05.09 in Coach No. S7 Birth No. 13 having PNR No. [protected]. had lunch plate consisting of Rice, Dal/Curry, Egg Curry(2 eggs) at a cost of Rs. 37 per plate. But while returning by train no. 0201 (YPR-Guwahati exp.) on 19.05.09 Coach No. S7 birth no. 67 PNR No. [protected] had lunch plate consisting of same menu they charged Rs. 55.

Why so disparity?

When asked for bill or rate chart, the IRCTC staff not only refused but also threatened for such query.

Are not they taking advantage from the passengers on board with no other options?

    Stupid website ever i have seen

    Regarding IRCTC.co.in

    What kind of features are you providing. What stupid server it is. I am trying to book a ticket from morning till 2.21 pm. I am not able to book my ticket.

    What server are you using. Is it develop for the travelers? I am getting so many error on my system? Who is the developer of this IRCTC.

    I am also a web developer. I could understand normal problems on a server or difficulties...

    IRCTC has a limit on the number of tickets that you can book per month, and that is 10. When people are paying for their tickets, I do not understand why anyone should limit the number of tickets to 10 per month.

    Other issues with the website :
    1. Service unavailable often - if your website is down, what should a consumer do if they want to cancel a ticket. Dont you think you should have a backup server, like so many (even small) companies like yahoo, zapak, etc. for something like this? Or there could be a mechanism where at least the payment can be queued at another website, in case the primary website is down.
    2. Onward Journey cannot be planned - people have to pay for the break-up journey, which comes to a lot more than if onward journey could have been planned.
    3. Credit Card mechanism not robust - Session expires too soon.
    4. The website expires by the time you fill up the form. And then you have to fill all over again. Sites like godaddy.com give you a notice that your session is expiring - just click here if you want to keep this session alive. This is a nagging problem, as you have to fill the same form again and again. Granted, the credit card part is critical, but not the form filling and booking section, so why this low session expiry time?

    Hope people take this positively, and do positive changes. Otherwise the site is quite good and flexible, quite unlike what is expected out of an indian government site.

    This is a real painful thing. I travel a lot and plan a lot in advance with multiple tickets to take care o[censored]nforeseen schedule. If not me some one else in my family is travelling here or there.

    Now I also am Shubh yatra member. I paid Rs 550 for this.

    I want to do all my tickets via my irctc account so that I can utilize the Rs 550 amount that I pay for my membersihp. But I am not being allowed to do that. This is completely unfair
    I am a subhyatra member having number [protected]. I am travelling frequently. Hence I need to book morre than 10 tickets per month for me only. This is not a commercial activity. Why should IRCTC limit this?
    One the one hand IRCTC is promoting subhyatra membership and in the other hand limiting the customers to book tickets. What is the strategy behind it?
    Is there a hidden agenda of IRCTC to promote their agents and to trouble their customers to stand in a long queue infront of the booking counter?

        Sir,

        I have got reservation from irctc.co.in through internet. On scrutiny my pass book 08 times i.e. Rs. 503/- has been deducted on 14 and 16 April 2009. Similarly 05 times Rs. 10/- and 493/- has been deposited in my saving bank account. But actually my reservation has been done from Jammu Tawi to Rishikesh vide PNR No. [protected] Transaction ID No. [protected] on 14/04/2009 and return journey from Rishikesh to Jammu tawi vide PNR No. [protected] Transaction ID No. [protected] on 16 April 2009. Whereas six times are required to be refunded from your side. But it is not credited for Rs. 503/- in my saving bank account. Since only my reservation has been done only two times.

        2. You are requested to kindly refund my Rs. 503/- in my saving bank account account at the earliest, please.

        Personal — non refundable of amount from irctc

        Sir,

          My user id is mcf_hot. Yesterday (11/5/2009), I was trying to book a SL class ticket. I used my Citi bank credit card and reached to the stage where I clicked on 'Confirm Payment'. However, the next screen stated that 'Service Unavailable' and I was never able to print the e-ticket.

          On checking, with Citi Bank, I was told that the amount of Rs. 272/- has not been billed to my account and the reference no for this transaction as per Citi Bank is 089414. I was told to forward a mail. I have done so and sent a mail to [protected]@irctc.co.in requesting the amount of Rs. 272/- to be reverted back to me.

          I hope I have done the correct thing, as this is unprofessional on part of the Railways to block this amount as no PNR or transaction no was generated in this case.

          If I am missing some procedure in this case, please get back to me at the earliest either though this website or my email id [protected]@hotmail.com

          Irctc account id:- rpdeo, i was bookedone ticket from patna to mumbai (BCT),
          in second AC tatkal kota, my ticket was coformed, we i was call on 139 helpdesk number to know the status of train is runing right time or its late, than i got responce from 139 that the train is runing late around 1hr.the right sudi of train at ARA is 00:09, according the above reply now train will come at ARA on 01:12AM .
          when i reach station at 12:30 AM the train has gone at right time .

          Due to wrong information from 139 helpdesk, my train was missed and no refund for my ticket also .

          My ticket details was :-
          PNR number:-[protected]
          Class:- 2AC
          Date of jurn :- 11 May 2009
          Train number:- 3201

          so kindly resolve my problem as i want my moeny refund .

          I WAS TRVELLING A OFFICIAL JOURNEY ON DATE 22.09.2009 FROM KANPUR TO KALYAN BY UDYOGNAGARI EXP. IN 2A. BUT DOUE SOME PROBLEM MY DIRECTOR SYAS PLEASE STOPPED THE JOURNEY AND RETURNE BACK TO KANPUR SO THEREFORE I BREAK TH JOURNEY FROM JHANSI AND RETURN BACK. IN JHANSI STATION I SHOW THE TICKET TO Dy. S.M. (Comm.) HE PUT THE STAMPED ON THE TICKET WHICH IS SEND TO YOU BY POST. PLEASE DO NEEDFUL ACTION AND RETURNED THE MY AMOUNTS WHICH IS POSSIBLE.

            When I try to book a Tatkal ticket from Dindigul to Chennai for the date of 17th May, I get an error message saying, "Booking not permitted. Try some other Train/Class". I get this message after I entered the passenger details. After confirming the availability, I have tried all the trains and got the same message. I am really frustrated and finally I couldn't reserve my ticket at all. These kind of problems will surely give a very bad name to IRCTC and better they can remove the online tatkal booking option.

            When I try to book an online tatkal ticket from dindigul to chennai for the date 17th may, I get an error message saying that "Booking not permitted. Try some other Train/Class". After confirming the availability, I tried all the trains and got the same message. I got this message after entering the passenger details. I am really frustrated and finally I couldn't book the train at all. These kind of problems will surely give a very bad name to IRCTC and better they can remove the online tatkal booking service.
            you shd select the originating station and destination station and book full ticket.
            for example if i want to travel from vijaywada to gwalior, i will search for say chennai-delhi train
            and book tatkal ticket from chennai-delhi
            this is the way to book tatkal tickets.
            Sir/Madam,
            This is not a big problem but it is a problem.

            Secondly there is a proper solution for this problem. You can book your ticket from your boarding station to your destination station by following up these steps at IRCTC:

            TRICK FOR TATKAL BOOKING AT IRCTC
            ==============================>
            1. Search by your BOARDING station to your DESTINATON station by giving all your journey details.
            2. Select your train and then check its schedule for looking SOURCE station & DESTINATION station and note down these station with their codes.
            3. Now put these station codes once again in FROM & TO columns and keep other details same and search for train.
            4. Select that train once again and check availability. It will never show any fault message.
            5. If available then you can click BOOK TICKET button.
            6. Now select and change your BOARDING STATION (Important) as per your requirement which is below BOOKING STATION field & after TRAIN NO./NAME.
            7. Now you can proceed by giving passengers details.
            8. Select Consider for Auto upgradation and click MAKE PAYMENT button.
            9. Enter your Credit Card/Bank A/c Customer ID and click PAY button.
            10. Please KEEP WAITING untill you will show back your IRCTC web page with congratulation message for successfully booking the ticket.

            tatkal booking is very bad on irctc
            why because agents logins getting
            tatkal and normal logins are not
            working
            My Query: Suppose station A is having tatkal booking facility. The next station of the train is B. B has no tatkal facility but the train stops at B. Now if I book a Tatkal ticket in irctc. com as SOURCE Station A and put boarding station as station B, will the ticket be booked successfully?? I think in irctc website once you put boarding station B, the system will reject the booking because that station has no Tatkal... irrespective of source station A having Tatkal facility.
            Anybody has answer for this issue, kindly reply.
            In IRCTC, tatkal booking is quite bad always. and now that tatkal can be done only two days before situation is rather worse.My query is how the agencies is able to login when normal customer login is not working.
            Booking a ticket in tatkaal is impossible especially during festive season, it always says service unavailable...this is not somtimes, this is always. Since past 4 days, I am not able to book tatkaal ticket from New delhi(NDLS) to Bangalore (YPR). Once the tickets are unavailable, Service get activated. I am facing this problem since many months, and so we have to go to agents where they demand atleast 200-300 rs for normal sleeper booking.
            Everybody should pay some amount and become an Agent to book train tickets, because Agent login works and they are able to book tickets and normal login doesnt work. Do or Die. Better they can stop atleast this tatkal service online booking so that people are not disturbed and everybody will go to the nearest booking counter. Or increasing the speed of servers, or allotting quota for online tatkal booking would help.

              First i will apologize for my previous complaint, i mentioned wrong train number by mistake. On 11th May 2009, I have booked an online ticket for train number 2820
              ORISSA SAMPARK K EXP from NDLS to BBS boarding on 2nd June 2009 for KAUSHIK DOLAI MALE 24 Years of age and JAYASREE DOLAI FEMALE of age 20YEARS. Unfortunately after the payment was made through SBI ATM cum DEBIT card payment gateway, the error, "REDIRECT=https://www.irctc.co.in/cgi-bin/bv60.dll/irctc/booking/bankrespon... came up without giving me the confirmation of the payment and neither the ticket is generated.The money ( Rs 3, 579.00 ) has already been debited from my SBI acc.but i have not received ticket confirmation

              Personal — money charged but ticket not received

              sir , i have been charged money but i didn't receive the ticket dated 10th mar 2010 for the journey from bangalore to chennai. kindly help me with this problem.

              I demanded Extra BLANKET from attendant for my father who had fever but he denied & asked for Rs.100/- without any Receipt than I went to T.C. for his complaint but he denied& told me to settle with him only, who I asked him for complaint book, he told me to complaint on Bandra Station.
              So Kindly looked this matter and guide us the rools for extra blanket.

              sir, i have booked an e-ticket from hyd to vskp via irctc service on 28/4/2011 on the name of (g.v.s.subramanyam) through Andhra Bank debit card, an amount of 285rs was deducted from my a/c but the ticket was not booked. instead it showed me an error msg :

                Hi All,

                Please login with your username and leave the password field blank even if you did not get the confirmation email from IRCTC.

                And give forgot password option, you will get an email instantly with a password.

                  For last 3-4 moths and particularly in last few days I have observed that the tatkal ticket booking through www.irctc.co.in has been highly tailored by the website in such a way that a common public almost does not get chance to get a confirmed berth even if start at the opening time (8 AM sharp) and be online continuously. The website maintain such a drastic corrupt procedure that we get message "service unavailable" or go very very slow or get hanged at any stage even at payment stage. as a result even if a very high number of seats available in the beginning, not a single ticket can be booked by the innocent browser (claimed to be the important citizen). This looks like some people at different level use the irctc website machinary to continue such an extreme level of corruption each and every day that may be a black business of crores. Pl. look into the matter urgently and stop this official country level corruption without which the railway website becomes a farse.

                  Yes I agree with you. We must raise this issue. Tatkal tickets fill within 2 of past 8 AM. Today i was booking a tatkal ticket at about 0802 hours and it showed 81 seats available first but when the payment was made it it gave me a 116 wait list ticket.. How is this possible.

                  IRCTC have to answer. We should inform media about this.
                  Rail minister ke ghar kitna paisa jaa raha hai.
                  Are common public must come on road now, similler problem is faced by me today 26 & 27 june 2009.
                  I bet that it is managed business. i am trying to open this site then it is showing different messages about how it is unable to process the transactions.

                    Hi,

                    I was trying to book tickets for a journey from Nagpur to Bilaspur. I successfully achieved the same at IRCTC. However, whenever I was trying to book the return ticket, irrespective of the browser the transaction always failed. It went through the payment gateway of the Credit Card company, deducted the amount and failed just before the actual showing of the booked ticket. My browser showed an error on the web page where it displayed the absence of some code object. 'document.fssform not defined'.

                    Why such buggy code is allowed onto a website without proper testing?

                    I am facing huge trouble since 4000 INR of my money is stuck with IRCTC with 6 failed transactions. I am not too sure how long would it take for them to return this money and to add to it, even my ticket isn;t booked yet. I will have to go to the Reservation window at station in person and get it done.

                    So much so for the service.

                    Above is the link, i think...and the i dont know the ticket is booked or not but its not showing in any booked ticket column, as well as neither i got any mail frm IRCTC, regarding boooking the ticket.
                    I booked ticket frm varanasi to jammu, but it was not fruitfull, amount charged is around 2200Rs.

                    I request plz short out the problem as soon as possible..

                      Myself along with my wife travelled to Vizag on[protected] by Godavari Express, 2nd AC vide PNR No [protected]. As our ticket was wait listed even at the time of boarding the concerned TTE on checking the chart allotted Upper Berths in Cabin F (1st AC Coach). We too happily occupied the same thanking the Railways as well as ourselves for opting the auto upgrade option at the time of booking. However to our dismay the TTE after a while came in and insisted upon paying the difference amount for 1st class travelling. Not only he seemed unaware of the auto upgrade option and feigned ignorance about the same even when our other two co passengers (Retired IG and another a Professor in Surgery) tried to tell the TTE that such a facility was indeed there and he should not be charging for auto upgrading. He bluntly refused to at least hear us out!!

                      Left with no option we paid th difference amount of Rs. 1375/- (Rupees one thousand three hundred and seventy five) vide Excess Fare Ticket No 347317 and reached our destination.

                      This is unfair and I request the Railways to immediately refund the amount of Rs. 1375/- (Rupees one thousand three hundred and seventy five) charged vide Excess Fare Ticket No 347317 as we did not ask for 1st class accomodation and were instead allotted by the TTE.

                      I am agree with you Mr. Arun Kumar, What ever the IRCTC told in their FAQ and that are not accepted by any TTE.

                      Recently I have faced an issue, I had booked e ticket and I want to change the name of passenger and as per the rule I approach to Nearst RLY Station but they ignored and told "we can't do any things of this e-ticket" We board in the train and TTE started doing harassment and wrongly charged. When we show email of IRCTC when we have contacted and told IRCTC that Rly Station booking counter ignoring the pasanger name modification. I have shown this conversation to TTE but he told me "This is the face email which is prepared by you not any govt org."

                      This is seriously mismanagement of Indian Railway. Most of the TTE are corrupted in Indian railway.

                      i have booked e-ticket for my father and he was not having the ticket printout , as per indian railway rules a charge of 50/- is being charged to the passenger but the tte has issued a receipt of 1250/- as a full fare for not having the print out from a senior citizen whats the solution for the same

                        Dear Sir/Madam

                        I have booked ticket from Lucknow to New Delhi on 16 march 09 from lucknow swarn shatabdi and the journey date is 20th march 09 and the payment mode is corporation bank net banking and the cost of the ticket is Rs.1595 and Rs.12/- transcation charges, but unfotunately the above said amount has been debited twice from my account.
                        So, i request you to see this matter and credit Rs. 1607/- (1595 + 12) in my corporation bank account.

                        This is my first mail to IRCTC after that i have sent number of mails to irctc and give all the proof that shows the amount debited twice for the same ticket.
                        But unfortunately i'm still waiting for response .
                        Pl. do the needfull to solve my issue.

                            It always beeing observed that service will gone unavilable for online ticket booking from 8 AM to 9 PM when tatkal booking beeing start.
                            Due to this type of service, I loose my important work at my native place .IRCTC should provide us feedback on the matter.
                            I with my family traveled to Hubli last week. While returning back in Garib Rath express in 3 tier AC compartment on (3rd May 09) we had to face lots of problem. There was no TT. Nobody came to check the tickets. We were not provided any pillow or blanket as per the rules. AC was very low. The seating arrangement was not as per ticket. In the ticket it was mentioned as 2 seats lower berth and one middle berth. But when we boarded the train we found that the seat numbers were same but one was middle and two were upper berth. I would like to suggest the concerned authorities to please take necessary action and see that the berths are provided according to the seating arrangements of the train. In our case it is ok. But in case if any aged persons are traveling and if they are misguided (i.e. in ticket it is mentioned as lower berth but provided upper berth) what should they do?

                            I am really fedup from this site. This site is always showing Service Unavailable especially from 8A.M. to the time upto when Tatkal Quota is not over. If you people cannot provide facility, then why are you cheating the public by making wrong promises. All this started happening especially from the time of Mamta Banerjee. If we paying extra money also for Tatkal Quota, then what & where is the problem???
                            Regarding Service Unavilable from IRCTC, If you talk to the customer care also, they are very rude in responding the customers. I dont think this problem will get resolved untill and unless PM gets involved! :(
                            To whom we can escalate this issue?! Every body is fed up using this IRCTC .

                              My complaint regarding www.irctc.co.in website. from last two days, it was very slow even we are not able to get home page of that site.i want to cancel my e-tickets but not able to do so. pls look into this issue. It is happening no. of times with me and my friends even all person so i want to notice this issue.
                              even after long debate and news paper coverage the officials related to irctc website and railway department has not taken any action against site hang during 8 am to 9 am during tatkal reservation.
                              I am also facing problems with the Irctc site performance especially during the tatkal booking period from 8 am to 9 am.
                              Since the past 3 days i am continuously trying to get a tatkal ticket, but to no avail. The site is unavailable everyday during that period.
                              IRCTC is totally waste site Indian railway should through it away and launch their own portal
                              pathetyic site I tried to book tickets and it is yakkkkkkkkkkkkkkk Since the past 7 days i am continuously trying to get a ticket its so disgusting maaaaaaaan

                                I have booked one eticket for 2 passengers, in train 2256 'Gorakhdham Exp', on 21st Apr 09 in Tatkal quota. I made the payment through SBI debit card, as soon I clicked on "PAY" the next page did not show me the ticket detail, it just said redirecting to some "X" page.
                                Later when I checked my booked tickets history, it did not show me anything, related to this transaction. I didnot know whether my ticket has been booked, but the payment to IRCTC have been made for Rs. 2211 has been debited from my SBI A/c, with following reference : (refer to attachement)

                                I tried calling customer care but all lines kept busy. I don’t know what went wrong, but if my ticket is not booked I must get my money back. Please have a look into this issue, and let me know the reason as soon possible.

                                    Dear Sir/Madam. I had a few bad experiences with irctc.co.in, but lets just forget all those & concentrate on one. I had registered myself & my ID was " aceman ". i tried to login after an interval of 5-6 months, i know the ID must have been disabled/locked, but when i try the option " Forgot Password ", it does not have my question but has all the default questions. I tried to answer each & every one of them, but none worked, so i tried to register again, and this time, whenever i tried to complete my registration, it came up with an error " Your session has expired ", however, i tried to register at least, 5 times, to no avail. Kindly help, because it is mush better than standing in long queues for long hours.

                                      Session expired after making payment - No ticket booked -- bank account debited

                                      Sir,
                                      I faced a problem while booking a ticket now on irctc.co.in from Jamu Tawi(JAT) to Pune(PUNE) for 15th Apr 2009 in 1078 Jhelum Express.

                                      After entering the details, I made the payment using SBI debit card. After making the payment I got the message that the session is expired.

                                      I checked my SBI bank transactions and I can see a payment of 629/-. However when I see the list under "Booked Tickets"...
