Due to the non availability of proper and cost effective broadband connections in my suburb in Mumbai (Mulund), I eventually had to go with MTNL broadband connection. I was informed by many that MTNL is good but I am sorry to say that MTNL is not even satisfactory.

The main user of the connection is my dad and he won't easily understand the reliability of the connection. He would just try and refresh pages 3-4 times and then give up. I recently moved to my home and am using the same connection since last 10 days. I have configured the same connection on atleast 2 more devices other than my dad's laptop. These device include my personal desktop and my work laptop. I connect only using the LAN cables provided by MTNL and do not connect more than one device at a time. I am finding the connection to be very very unreliable. It disconnects so frequently that I surf less and press the refresh button more. This unreliability problem reached its tipping point when MTNL had changed the DNS servers from their side without informing customers. I tried to connect one whole day and I only got disappointed all the time. I called up the broadband customer care on 1504 and was informed about some new DNS servers. I entered the same and was still not able to get through the connection. I called 1504 again and asked for personal help. The engineer arrived my location 2 days after that and he entered a totally new set of DNS servers. The connection started working fine then.

The day after, I got connected but the connection was so unreliable. Due to this unreliable connection, I failed 6 credit card transactions in last 10 days. Out of these 2 transactions were double paid and now I have to call up my credit card company to help me out. Also, I lost cheaper air tickets and better seats in a theater as when I was trying to book the tickets online, the connection broke about 20-30 times !! This caused me to pay higher for my travel tickets and also compromise on seats even after paying the same amount !!

This is just a summary of mishaps in last 10 days while I used MTNL broadband. I don't think that MTNL is even working towards this, because, my dad informed me that he also faced same issues since last 3 months !!! I am really hurt and upset with what our government is providing us as service.

I am sorry to say, but MTNL sucks !!!

Sir,
I am having a net connection in the name of my son .Our number is 25051571. My telephone is serviceable but, net connectivity is not constant . Hardly i am getting my net through . As i am on deputation in UN Mission In Sudan, the net is the only way of communication with my family.
I have already reported the matter in last fifteen day ago also but of no use. Till date no improvement.
You are requested to look into the matter and do the needful.

    We all know that MTNL is in New Delhi and the network changes to BSNL whenever we are in roaming.Now the problem is that the MTNL coupons are not available for easy recharge outside Delhi.All coupons are of BSNL.We have to recharge our cell from Delhi only.This creates a lot of problem.Please do something to avoid this problem so that we can recharge our MTNL network cell phones even outside Delhi.

    THIS IS A MAJOR PROBLEM.WE HAVE MOE CHARGES IN ROAMING WHEN WE CALL OTHER N/W BUT THE SAME IS FREE FOR OTHER SERVICE PROVIDERS LIKE AITEL, RELIANCE ETC ALL.

    ANOTHER THING IS THAT THERE IS NO RECHARGE COUPON AVAILABLE FROM OUTSIDE OF MUMBAI AND DELHI.HOW TO RECHARGE WHEN WE ARE OUTSIDE?
    THERE IS ONE BIG PROBLEM WHEN WE IN ROAMING LOTS OF PLACES IN INDIA WHERE THE MTNL RECHARGE CARDS NOT AVAILABLE AND ONLINE RECHARGE FACILITY IS NOT AVAILABLE SO ITS DUTY OF MTNL TO START ONLY EASY RECHARGE

      SIR,
      My name is Raman Kant Kapil, i got mtnl broadband plan trib combo 749 nu installed last year it clearly stated that that i can download 1.25gb in a day&night was unlimited, it would cost me some what around rs 800.But to my disbelief they charged me around 12000 for 2 months. I immediately filed a complaint with nearest MTNL branch, but even after an year i have not recieved any response



      I want my hard earned money back with interest

        One of the worst services.
        I am using MTNL's broadband service since last 4.5 years. But since last 6 months my internet connection works slower than a dialup connection, doesnt works at all, have got the complaint registerede atleast 10 times on 1504, every time a new complaint number is given, but no actions are taken. Got the phone number of the persona responsible for my area, the person visited my place, wasnt aware much about internet troubleshooting except for pinging, if it pings their modem, the connection is working fine, what .
        Have called him countless times to tell my problem, requested him to try changing the modem, he says the line could be faulty, sum1 will come to check, but no 1 comes. This is the last month that I am gonna wait for MTNL to do something.

        MTNL — ABOUT its internet service

        i let u know that i m the costomer of mtnl {Garura } . i have the internet facility in my phone but m not able to use this sevice properly b/c server is not always and speed is too slow to use it . I am using this sevive from 23'rd november from that day only i m facing this problem . i had complained several times more than 6 times but there is not taken action . my complain no is

        i have taken broadband connection with phone no.[protected] specifically for the purpose of internet). but, internet does'nt work mostly. no response on complaints. I am occuring heavy losses. my whole work depends on the internet connection.

        Why this Loyal Customer is not allowed to convert his existing second connection to this
        “Additional landline to Loyal Customers of MTNL Mumbai” scheme and benefit with the lower service charges and free calls.
        Why this discrimination for existing MTNL customers?
        Can any one take it up with the MTNL authorities and answer this?

        MTNL Broadband — Worst service

        Respected Sir,
        I have taken the mtnl broadband connection for my no.[protected] but from what I have exppreiced I can say it is the worst service provider I had called several times there consumer care no. 1504 but nobody responds but eventully I got my complaint registered on 01/06/10 Comp. no. 3972 and was given resonse time as 24 hours but I got no response even after 48 hours I called 1504 again they said you can talk to broadband area manager by taking his number from enquiry no. 197 but area manager Mr. Anand does not like incoming calls so he did not receive any of my calls so than I registered my comlaint on there P.G. cell but till now I have not got any reponse calls or anything, people hardly have anytime to to even complaint I was having this prolem of broadband not working for long but did not complaint I thought it would start working normally as it gets working somedays but now it has completely stopped working. So from my expreince what I feel is Mtnl is the worse service provider for broadband it lags in every department.

        hey all these people r shameless we cant do anything against them as i dont have MTNL but have tata modem wireless it is just worst we can simply spread the truth so atleast others will not buy their products. just spread this message you may get some impact. thank you
        My broadband has not been working for last 2 months, and when it does, it is slower than a snail. I have made numerous phone and e-mail complaints but of no avail. It seems these guys do not bother at all.

          Dear Sir/Madam,

          I have a problem with my landline phone. This is like a dead machine for me. Display and dial tone vanished. How do i use this phone? Please tell me any solution.

          Your Customer care department service is Ridiculous. No one care about customer after connection have been established. I have already tried to complaint so many times, but the call center employees cut the line in between the discussion without registering complaint. Shameless guys...

          My phone is not working properly. It works with noisy disturbance. Some times it get disconnected automatically when call comes first time after one ring. After second ringit get connected. Because of this my internet connection also gets disconnected. Please look in to a matter and resolve problem as early as possible.

            I Have A MTNL Mobile Connection. Previous 2 Month I have Given at least 20 Complain For Deactivate My Hello Tune But Regarding My Complain There Is No Response. What I Do...

              SUB: Regarding bill No [protected], [protected] & [protected] (Phone no.[protected]

              Dear Sir / Madam,
              This complaint is in continuation with the complaints I have already lodged with the MTNL earlier about wrong billing on Triband subscriber usage (Dated 17/02/09). After the complaint lodgment intermittently I have been able to contact Ms. Sharanjit Kaur about the bill (on phone & in person) I have been falsely billed Rs.3390.75 + taxes – Jan 09 bill & Rs.2524.69 + taxes – Feb 09 bill while after initial inquiries the authorities agreed with my claim I was still asked to pay Rs.500.00 for each months triband usage. This is despite the fact that one week after broadband had only worked for first 2 – 3 days after installation (complaint no[protected].
              This complaint was not resolved despite my calling up repeatedly. In fact each time I have taken leave from work to go personally to sanchaar head I have only been shunted from one place to another with no resolution of the problem.
              Broadband activation was finally done on 7th March 09 by Ms. Sharanjit Kaur after which it worked for around a week (as per MTNL) was disconnected and reconnected for another week end for March asking me to settle my bills by paying Rs.500.00 per month for triband usage. I have repeatedly expressed my intension for paying my bill if a corrected bill is sent. I do not see why I should pay Rs.1000.00 towards a triband usage when broadband was not functional as the concerned MTNL authorities are in full knowledge of this fact.
              I have again received a new bill [protected] where triband subscriber usage is billed at Rs.275.74 (MTNL had already disconnected my phone outgoing & broadband usage in March) still nothing has been done about the wrong billing in Jan / Feb 09 which rule in MTNL states that a bill plan Combo 250 wherein I was assured a minimum bill of Rs.250.00 inclusive of rent + extra for the phone calls + extra if triband usage is over the specified limit.
              If there is such a rule I would like to be given written information about it along with a written assurance that my complaint will be given immediate attention and Rs.1000.00 be refunded to me immediately.

              If MTNL cannot do that, I would prefer that the phone and internet connection be officially disconnected (in any case connection has been barred due to non payment of Jan 09 and Feb 09 bills) and I be refunded the initial installation amount Rs.516.00 paid by me in Jan09.

              No one has ever bothered seriously in MTNL to resolve our issues and have only tried to force us pay the bill of service which was never provided to us in proper manner.

              We had an MTNL phone 25074644 earlier with the same minimal usage broadband plan and have always been prompt in clearing our dues. Despite being a model customer I have faced enough mental harassment for choosing MTNL services. Request consumer forum to help me resolve this and ask MTNL to pay me for harrassment to me during my maternity period.

                Sir,

                I have applied for new MTNL connection through DISTANCE TELECOM( which is a direct sale provider of MTNL), address: 108-A, GF, DDA BUILDING, MATA SUNDARI ROAD, NEW DELHI- 110002 on 19/6/2009. w
                The executive Mr. Mukesh Kumar took all the documents & Rs 500 cash and told me that connction will be set up in 7 working days. But till now I have not got any connection, I have tried callingf his no. [protected]- He abused me and asked not to call again. when I called Mr Gagan on [protected], I have not got a proper response.

                I am fed up with the services & behavoiur of Distance Telecom. Its creating negative impact & impression Of MTNL on customers. Kindly help me to get my connection.

                  I have lodged several complaints with MTNL ( 1504 ) for my dead internet broadband connection (no.[protected]. It is not working since 30th June. I am a busy doctor, despite all this, I have taken leave from my hospital and met SDO Rajouri Garden ( Mr. Azad) on 3rd of July 2009. But no action has been taken . Please tell me why should I pay for this connection. Not even a single person turned up for any sort of repair. MTNL is behaving irresponsibly, who will pay for the business damages and loses because of this hopeless connection. why are they issuing broadband connections when they can not manage the load.

                  This is really PATHETIC, SHAMEFUL and sad state of affaires. I will pursue this matter to the highest possible level .Even if i have to to waste n number of days and time.

                  They are directly promoting private players . I think they might be taking favours from private players for doing all this. I am fed up with these sarkari attitude.

                  My triband connection is not working since the last week . when I try to register a complaint I get the message that the phone is disconnected due to shift. What shift? Who asked them to shift?

                  When I try to lodge a complaint on their website the complaint does not get accepted due to the reason "Your phone is closed".

                  I know my phone is dead they don't have to tell me that!!! And what do they mean by Phone is closed? Is it a cupboard or a shelf?

                  Is it their way of asking for a bribe?

                  MTNL sucks big time.

                    Hi,
                    Plan 649 Combo got activated effective 01/07/2009 has a starting internet speed of 512 Kbps.
                    However know the current speed of internet is below 256 Kbps.
                    I have also complaint to their speed department, but no action has been taken.
                    I have also sent the email to helpdesk.[protected]@bol.net.in with attachment of speed test software provided by MTNL whose link is http://202.159.217.199:8080/mtnlPortal123/dsl/result.jsp?2200.77613.but no action has been taken.

                    Please advise otherwise I would be charged of 512kbps, facility which I have't received.

                      We have got a Triband bill amounting to 25, 000 for three months. When MTNL has Rs.1000 unlimited internet access how can the bill be so much. We do not have the unlimited access plan. To add to it we did not receive the original bill for the first two months. By the time we realized that we had not received the bill for 2 months our phone was disconnected. Then we went and brought a duplicate bill. We have contacted all the people in our telephone exchange as well as the accounts section people but they claim that we need to first clear the 25, 000 amount and get the connection back. My point is if 1000 is the maximum internet charge how can MTNL charge us so much even if we have exceeded our triband plan. We should have received the original bill on time which would have alerted us in the first month itself. We are unable to pay such a huge amount.
                      I am very much surprise to see my bill of brodband for the month of june.2009.I have not used any net in the month of may.2009 due to prob.in my net from your end but I have paid rs.199/- as i have taken the plane of 199/-. The prob.was till 22nd of june has been going on. I have complained so many time to mtnl at 1500, also to our area inchage. But the prob.had not been solved. I got a phone from mtnl on[protected] that why i am not using net becuase for june i have just used 159 m.b. as you have told on 20th of june. on 23 of june I have called a computer person and get the prob.solved on my personal basis. But I am suprise to know that from[protected] to[protected] there are uses more than 2200 m.b. from 06.06-2009 to[protected] we are outof station but the uses are still for that perod also. From a week I have been enquring for the same but there is no satisfacty ans.from your end. plese tell me the uses of my phone. if you have any quries please feel free to talk on my phone no.[protected]. I have already registered a complain but till i have not received any feed back from your end.

                        My ADS L is not working since 30th Jun 2009 till date. I have complain in customer care of mtnl by call on 1500, My complain no. is 41100437 this is already register on 30th June 2009 and second complain is 46494 on 2nd July 2009. after that i am contact on this no.                         My broadband is either not working or working intermittently. I have been complaining to the customer care. Each time nobody is attending the complaint but the complaint disappears probably it is part of the programming that after some time complaint is cleared. I tried to contact to their of senior executives whose email address are available on their customer care website but they choose not to respond to the mail.                           I have been using this Garuda service from MTNL fron last 5 years. I am paying monthly charges of Rs2300/ but inspite of paying such hevay rent since last 2 years I am facing network problem. 70% of my calls get droped. This is really annoying. Ihave been complaining to MTNL customer care every alternate day but there is no improvement.Pls request you to look into this matter asap.

                            On 30.06.2009 my prepaid mobile no [protected] from MTNL Dolphin, got a message saying that a caller tune is downloaded and activated as per my request. But actualy, I have not asked for any caller tune or related services from the service provider. Now my balance on the talk time shows approximately Rs. 31/- less than it should be.

                            Now I complained to the helpline no. 1503, four times since yesterday evening. Every time they informed me that they will call back and adress my complaint. In spite of my repeated attempt no body at MTNL office could help me to refund the amount. However one Mr. Sachdev at my Mankhrud exchange assured me, if I want he will discontinue the caller tune and I have asked for to discontinue it immedietly.

                            Now I have already spend a lot money in tracing the source from where the caller tune is activated without my request.

                            Kindly do the needful to compenste the loss incured to me.

                              Our job is not to run around you every weekend. I had given request for installation of Internet on 20th Apr, however got installed on 2nd May2009, then after 2 days due to some technical problem Internet stopped working ..

                              I made several calls to get this rectified but no reponse then i personally visited to Area Manager(Hari Nagar) on 30th May..then he send the technitian to my place after 4 days .So it only started working properly after 4th May.

                              Area Manager commited and assured to get to provide me the Rebate on May'09 Bill for not using broad band in the month of MAY'2009 due to technical issue from their Server .

                              Please do the needful at earliest otherwise i have to quit from your services..

                                MTNL — Incorrect Bills

                                Dear Sir,

                                I have MTNL landline with BBand connection for 25902786. I had called contact centre on 23rd March 2008 and changed plan from 849 TO 199 plan...I also received a call from MTNL confirming that the plan is changed. I called up several times in April to check my usage and was informed that my bill would be around 315 Rs as I have exceeded my allocated usage of 400mb by 115mb. However Wheni received bill from 1st April-31st April It was a shock as the bill is for 849Rs for Bband..The same has happened for the month of may. It is very disappointing to see that call centre executives just don;t help and can't even speak properly. My mother also spoke to the MTNL officer in Mulund but he is not willling to help at all. Please check this on high priority or else cancel our connection as we won't be paying incorrect bills anymore.

                                I have been charged DSL installation, but MTNL Call Center told at the time of booking new DSL connection over voice, there are no charges for DSL installation on existing LL, Call center is not ready to log complaint against wrong information provided by them, also have logged complaint through MTNL Site but no one have reverted with actioning on the issue, Complaint no. 87052 was booked. i am not ready to pay rs. 300/- for DSL installation as this was never communicated to me.,
                                They are simply pathetic...MTNL must be privatised.

                                  It has been almost two years since i have taken broadband connection, it has never function continuously, the internet connection keeps dropping now and then it does not run even for five minutes. Also, the speed promised is of 2mbps which is a real joke, you only get about 56 kbps that too if you are lucky. I have complained many times to the concerned MTNL office, they have also changed the modem, but the problem is still not resolved. The customer care only gives you the complaint number but nothing happens after that, may I request somebody to address the issue please or else MTNL should close down their plans so that there are no expectations.

                                  This problem is recurring one from the last 3 months. May be due to faulty modem and the wire being old and not being replaced despite repeated requested. I am constrained to get the connection disconnected and seek the refund of the already deposited bills. There is no access to broadband.

Finally frustrated with their system of working, I made a visit to the MTNL telephone exchange, dabri mor, new delhi. They sympathised saying that your issue will be resolved to the earliest. And no wonder again no visited neither anyone bothered to take a note of the same. I had to make 2nd visit to the exchange and this time I was shocked to hear their reply. The gentleman sitting there said " bas aise hi hota hai yahan pe..yahi halat hai yahan ki aur aapko aise hi dikkaton ka samna karna padega"..!!, the typical government official reply.
                                  Now its been almost 20 days since my internet is not working but MTNL makes no mistake in sending the bill for something that they are not ready to provide service for.
                                  Please help me sort out this problem as soon as possible.

                                    Dear Sirs,

                                    I have Garuda FWP connection[protected]. For last 15-20 days it is not working since it's battery is down. The battery for this instrument is neither available in open market nor with MTNL.I visited Panvel telephone exchange several times but they have failed to provide me battery for the said instrument. Everytime I visit the exchange I am told the battery would be available within next 2 days.

                                    I hope somebody will help me out.

                                    I also have faced the problems with battery of FWP but in replacement i got a new battery which even worse. and they are never ready to help us.
                                    we also have Pantech FWP instrument with Garuda no[protected]. it is not functioning properly because its battery is not charging. we have taken this instrument several time to wadala telephone exhange. They told they'll be not able to give new battery instead they have replaced it with more worst battery. next they change my instrument with the another used one which is not working at all. they told neither new batteries nor new instrumet will be available. we hope somebody will take a note of it & help.
