    I have mtnl unlimited broadband plan and my broadband speed should be 256 kbps.
    But I am getting a speed between 20 to 25 kbps.
    I have made many complaints and have mailed them too
    but am getting no help.

    Coincidently, i am also using the MTNL TRI B unlimited plan since January. The internet connection worked fine at 256kbps speed for a month and half and then the speed dropped to 20kbps.I have done my best to bring this upto MTNL customer support several times, and the outcome of all the complaints was that this is the right speed i am getting.I am fed up in thinking and discussing, why the internet speed worked excellent for 1month? and so and after internet speed went really down that sometimes i cannot download anything.The browsing speed has also been affected but MTNL concerned employees are not ready to listen to me so, now i am concerned about my money that i pay every month.I am conerned about my time that i spend over internet waiting for a webpage to load completely and waiting for MTNL technical people to fix this problem permanently.I pay the same approxmately 1000Rs each month as also other MTNL TRIB unlimited subscriber do, then why few o[censored]s get slow speed and rest would enjoy the internet as we also suppose do.Please this is getting really huge issue for me and i really like to disconnect the connection but i really don't find that a positive solution to this problem.Since march till now i have paid for the cost of TRI B unlimited service, now if i disconnect the connection then what do i i get in changing to a different ISP.What do i get by paying for the kind of service which i haven't been to use for past 2 months, i meant who will bare the cost and if MTNL is responsible to bare this cost then i will be happy to change to another best competitive ISP provider in the market.I have walked and discuss this problem with various MTNL personnel and what i get to hear is this that MTNL is not putting up with the capacity of connection the can handle and they are providing connection to each and everyone without putting any cost in the production or so called not putting money to make sure all the including existing and new gets the the same kind of services what is being promised while taking the connection from MTNL. This is highly cost cutting issue but this is not the way how MTNL is dealing.I have spoken to Area Manager and was told to delete my cache memory of my laptop, also that what i am facing is not possible.So, Area Manager is being either unaware of this issue or he is pretending to do so.And i do delete my temporary internet files and use my computer the same way when i didn't any issues with internet then all of sudden why now?I think MTNL is completely cheating atleast on me, i am not aware of others what steps they taken to fix this problem, because i am sure i am not the only one facing such problem with MTNL TRIB unlimited internet service.

    MTNL — Unreasonable price difference?

    to whomsoever it is concerned,

    I would like to bring to your notice a gross case of discrimination taking place between the customer base of mtnl.i am a mtnl subscriber from mumbai and utilize your broadband service.today i was going through the tarrifs of mtnl in mumbai and delhi .the difference between was shocking .i would like to make a case in point using your unlimited scheme --- 256 kbps unlimited download .the price difference was quite shocking --

    MUMBAI-- RS.2500

    DELHI------ RS.799.

    the price difference is more than 3 TIMES. why is this discrimination being made?

    I totally agree with you that these MTNL babus are encougarging discrimation... Not only they are overcharging MTNL mumbai customers in their UL plan but also in their other plans...

    The tariff plans which they are offering to MTNL delhi customers are only 1/4 of what they are charging to us. They are taking the full advantage of their monopoly in mumbai as other service providers do not offer services in all parts of mumbai.

    I think we all mumbai customers bring this overpricing practices to their TOP BRASS's notice.

    Exact same thing happened to me! I used to get over 200kbps speed
    with TriB unlimited download. But now i get maximum 25kbps!
    Its drastically affected me in everywhich way and is terribly frustrating. I realize i;m commenting after a long time. Have you been able to overcome your problem and could you please assist me if you could?
    Or have to switched to a better ISP and or better plan that you could inform me about

    i have the same problem i was getting speed of 200 kbps for downloads some how this past week it barely touches 25 kbps and the surfing is also agoanisingly slow.they say this has happened cuz i use 2 different pc for the same modem.we do have 2 laptops...however no ones yet come to rectify the settings.
    i am using mtnl for one and half month but my internet speed is very siow.i made many complaints but no action is taken till now.please help
    They have reduced the prices of their packages and the speed has gone down drastically.
    I have 256kbps unlimited which has become very slow since the prices have gone down.
    Thats very cheap on their behalf.

    POOR NETWORK COVERAGE

    SIR THE NETWORK IN NAVY NAGAR IS POOR. THE 3G NETWORK DOES NOT COME AND CALLS KEEP DROPPING. REQUEST PUT ADDITIONAL ANTENNA NEARBY TO IMPROVE SIGNAL STRENGTH.

      My number is[protected] & and the internet at my home has not been working for the last 15 days. I have complained (Complaint No. 9493 ) atleast 5 times and have been told everytime that my complaint has been updated. The Officer incharge is never available and no heed is being paid to the complaints made. The attitude of the employees is totally ""sarkari" as they have no accountability whatsoever.

      I hope that somebody reads this mail of mine on the non chalant and obnoxious attitude of the MTNL employees towards my 5 complaints. Horrible is the word and I am totally disgusted with the services which have been provided. They just dont seem to listen.

          I am sending a text of complain forwarded to MTNL [protected]@bol.net.in.Despite of frequent complain MTNL does listens at all.Kindly do the needful. The text is

          DEAR SIR
          FROM YOUR SERVICE OF 56262 I AM GETTING MESSAGE "rS 25.00 HAVE BEEN DEDUCTED FROM YOUR ACCOUNT AS MONTHLY PLAY TUNES" for last six months a service I never asked for.On contacting 1503 i was toldb to send UNSUB BUT YOUR STUPID SYSTEM DOES NOT LISTEN.then lodged complain to 1503 four to five times but your STUPID SYSTEM does not listen.Same thing had happened with my mobile No [protected].I will be forced to go for RTI or consumer care to stop you from looting public.Sorry for using wrong words but your system does not work.Please return me my money for aservice which i never asked for.More over you are suppose to ask customer everytime whether subscriber wants to continue such services or not. I am sending same complain to TRAI .

          dolphin — They less 30.00 Rs. Every Month

          I have a dolphin No. [protected] since many years and this company less Rs. 30.00 every month for some radio active service. Which i never use this service and they are always less these Rs. 30.00 from my prepaid. Whenever i complaint in customer care they were saying next month onward this service will be stop. And next month they do the same. So, please help me how i come out from this thing.

          mtnl mobile(dolphin) — monthly deduction ofRs 25/ by MTNL(DOLPHIN SCHEME MOBILE) music station

          this is with regards to my mobile No [protected] to which i have lodged complain many times to MTNL regarding monthly deduction of Rs 25/ monthly by Mtnl music station 56262 to which I never asked for requested to stop many times but they do not listen.This is happening since last six months text of complain forwarded to them is as follows

          DEAR SIR
          FROM YOUR SERVICE OF 56262 I AM GETTING MESSAGE "rS 25.00 HAVE BEEN DEDUCTED FROM YOUR ACCOUNT AS MONTHLY PLAY TUNES" for last six months a service I never asked for.On contacting 1503 i was toldb to send UNSUB BUT YOUR STUPID SYSTEM DOES NOT LISTEN.then lodged complain to 1503 four to five times but your STUPID SYSTEM does not listen.Same thing had happened with my mobile No [protected].I will be forced to go for RTI or consumer care to stop you from looting public.Sorry for using wrong words but your system does not work.Please return me my money for aservice which i never asked for.More over you are suppose to ask customer everytime whether subscriber wants to continue such services or not. I am sending same complain to TRAI .
          [protected]@mtnl.net.in-------my mob no-[protected], I paid Rs 1167.00 in payment for the bill for may’09. It’s too high. BSNL has an arrangement to inform its customer on asking by an SMS to no-53333 ( cell1), at any point of time what’s the charges till that date. This is convenient as the customer may control himself so that he does not cross the monthly budget set for that by himself. Likewise can’t you make similar arrangement for MTML customer as well so that at anytime the customer may know how much call he has made. With such an arrangement, I would not allow the bill rise to Rs 1167.00, as my monthly budget is only Rs 600.00. Please acknowledge.

          I too received a message from[protected] saying "congrats ! u have been successfully subscribed for MTNL Music station Rs 30/- has been charged to your account. Enjoy the service." I was suprised as I had never asked for this service. I called the customer care and they informed me that you must have asked for the subscription by calling on 550002. I told them I am sure that I have not asked for the service as heard the number for the 1st time. Then they said you can check in your itemised bill whether there was a call made on this number from your mobile for which you will have to pay Rs 50/-. They were not sure whether they could refund the money even after the itemised bill would prove that I had not asked for the service.
          They have just forced on this service onto me, when I had never asked for it. Since mine is not the only case, I agree that they are looting public.

          dolphin — Activation of "MTNL Music Station " service without any request and deduction of money

          Dear Sir/Madam,
          This is to inform that I received following SMS on 10/9/09 my mobile phone number [protected]:
          "congrats ! u have been
          successfully subscribed
          for MTNL Music station
          Rs 30/- have been
          charged to your account. Enjoy
          the service.
          From:[protected]
          6:59pm 10/9/09"
          without any such request from me.

          During September 06 to September 12, 2009, I was in Rajasthan with this mobile. Carrying personal Mobile Phone was not allowed at my work area, so this mobile phone was kept in Guest House in Locked condition. Therefore, request for activation of such service by me or by my family members is ruled out.

          I made a complaint (Ref.No. [protected]) regarding this issue on 10/09/2009. It was told by the Customer Care Service personnel that I would be contacted regarding resolution of the complaints.
          I received no call from the Dolphin in this regards till date (17/9/09).

          On follow-up, call made by me towards above-complaint, I was told by the the Customer Care Service personnel that the request for activation of the said service has been made by me. However, details (Date and Time) for making such request could not be provided by them.

          On further follow-up, I am getting just another complaint number, without any resolution of my complaint.

          The latest complaint number (4th Complaint in last 8 days) I have got from the Customer Care Service in this regard is[protected] dated 17/09/2009.

          A lot of time and energy has been spent for resolving this complaint (Which is still PENDING).

          Kindly arrange to expedite resolution of the above complaint or suggest further steps to be taken in this regard.

          Different person is attending the call at 1503/ [protected] (Customer Care Service) who require to be explained full story for understanding the complaint and verification etc. Last call to Customer Care Service in this regard was of above 28 minutes, during which all records of my mobile for last 90 days have been verified and confirmed that there was no request for activation of stated service was made by me.

          I agree with the complaints and request all NOT TO KEEP QUIET, if such thing happens to anyone.

          MTNL — Charges for Music Station

          I got one message" Thanks for calling on 126300.FREE ENTRY COUPAN diye jaa rahe hai NAVRATRI UTSAV 2009 ke liye ART OF LIVING ke taraf se abhi call kare 5500066(tollfree) Rs.30/m"
          and then I call toll free no.5500066 but you have deducted Rs.30 whereas you said in msg toll free no.Pls credit Rs.30

          mtnl dolphin mobile service — false bill

          i am a regular user of MTNL Dolphin postpaid connection . about four months back i recieved a bill amouting to rs 3000+ , wherein it showed that about an amount of 2600 had been used on ISD , when confirmed with the telephone department , they said that my connection did not have the isd facility . however , my connection was barred after four days .after 6 days i recived another sms that my bill was 6000 + now . my connection has been barred ever since an inspite of my repeated efforts , the department is not ready to comment . at present my connection has been barred ever since and i have suffred enormous loss of my business due to the phone disconnection . kindly suggest me what to do .
          I suggest you file complaint under TELECOM CONSUMERS PROTECTION AND REDRESSAL OF GRIEVANCES REGULATIONS, 2007 with the NODAL OFFICER.

            the service wire of my landline phone no 27284422 from pole to my house is broken and is tied on the the roof of some neighbour who misuse the line i have reported this to lineman of narela exchange a lot of times but no action is being taken by him .as a result i have to pay extra. kindly remove the service wire from the existing pole to some other pole and change service wire with new.

                  I hold a Delhi MTNL's Garuda Prepaid number. I recharged it with Rs.300.00 unlimited internet use coupon on 2nd May 2009, at 22.20 hrs. The recharge was successful. But, the internet service has not been started on my number.

                  I contacted Garuda customer care on 1502 number and I was told:

                  1. That it takes 24 hours for the internet coupan recharge to take effect. The internet is activated manually by MTNL internet department.

                  2. As 3rd May 2009 was a Sunday and a holiday it will not be counted in the 24 hours period before recharge is activated. I was told that my internet will be activated by 1600 hrs on Monday, 4th May 2009, but it is not activated yet.

                  3. Both Sundays and Saturdays are not counted in the 24 hour period which is taken for the recharge to activate.

                  4. But, the recharge coupan's one month validity period begins on the day of recharge itself, i.e, in my case, from 2nd May 2009 itself. This means two days out of my one month period is already wasted.

                  5. MTNL enjoys consumer's money for two days without providing them any benefits.

                  6. There is no way to know the balance amount in the internet account in prepaid internet on MTNL Garuda. No sms detailing the validity period beginning or end is sent by MTNL to consumers. The consumer is left to do his own guesswork. The customer care is also not aware of the validity end date.

                  I request TRAI to take strong action in this case and to save the gullible consumers from the unethical and greedy practices by MTNL.

                      I have been complaining to MTNL technical support IVR and tehnical support service for the last 3 weeks regarding my internet not workin. I have been told by all the technical support agents that my broadband modem needs to be replaced. I have been waiting for more than 3 weeks now and have received a few calls from the technical support advising me that the modem would be replaced today and tommorow and the next day and this has been happening for the last 1 week. Till date no one has come over to replace the modem. I had called a few times more and i was told that this has been escalated as an urgent request but till date no one has come over to replace the modem. I have been doing the payment for MTNL and Broad band service on time but after this last payment i would not be doing the payment for the broadband service for the next month as my internet was not working. I have also escalated this matter to the MTNL office in Green park and no response from anyone so far. What can i do? Please help.

We have made complaint at Ph No. 1504 for broad Band Service from long time for non connectivity and frequent disconnectivity.I made last complaint on 14/5/2009 Complaint no.5012.Lastly At Ph. No. 1504 lastly they informed that it is not rectifiable at their hand and you have to complain to area manager.I contacted to directory service at 197 and they given me no of Laxmi Nagar Area manager who said that it is not of his area and given me Ph. no. of Mr. Rajender 22481150/[protected] who also said that it is not of his area. MTNL directory has no other Ph. no to complain and person at 1504 are saying it pending and they are helpless. I am frustrated with the service and want serious action.

                          I am resident of Matunga Labor Camp, Mumbai. MTNL services from Matunga telephone exchange were down (completely dead phones for entire area) many times below are details:
                          January 2009 - 15days services not available
                          February 2009 - 8 days services not available
                          March 2009 - 8 days services not available
                          April 2009 - 6 days services not availble

                          I spoke to MTNL officers they said following billing amount for not availability of services will be adjusted in the future billing cycles, but till now I have not got any refund for my Phone or Broadband service.
                          MTNL has harrased us all the time we complain. The technicians come and refuse to rectify the mistake. He says the electrician has to do it. When elctrician comes he say he dosenot understand telephone wires so he will not touch. This happend to us twice. Then I personally when to the head of department and complained . He came with his technician and repaired the telephone line las time .

                          Again today I m faced with th same problem. I dont think I have the energy or the time to run after these MTNL people. Why are the services so bad. They indirect ask for bribe to do the work.

                                MTNL — Corrupt illiterate Staff worst service

                                Last Month I had applied for Shift of Add to MTNL and onthe spot they issued the workorder for the same and inform me that it will be done within 3 days... But it was not done since one month so I personally went to check the status they informed me that they cant transfer my line to my new address which is just 2 buildings away from my old building. On pressurising them they inform me... KHARCHA LAGEGA... unofficial... when I didnt agree they ask me its not possible and I was forced to cancle the the line... now they are harrassing me for refunding my deposit... I will be moving to consumer court for this issue...
                                So i would like to share my view as not to go for MTNL as there are may private good companies providing the landline facility...

                                MTNL (Broadband) — Not get MTNL Broadband connection yet

                                i have register with MTNL on 15/5/2008 for plan Tri B Combo unlimited. I got the telephone connection on 18/5/2008 but, till now i did'nt get the broadband connection. They told me that they don't have port for the broadband connection.

                                Is there any way to i get all the paid amount refund.
                                No point fighting with stubborn MTNL unless the deposit amount is substantial. Good to see you have deicided to move on with another service provider.

                                MTNL — Non Changing of Broadband plan and ill support offered by the employees

                                I had called 1500 on 30th of November for the plan change and confirmed with your call representative to change the plan and was assured by the representative of the plan change( i wanted to change from 749NU to unlimited 256.). I had reconfirmed on 1st December if my plan had changed or not and was told by a female employee that changes would be implemented from the evening of 1st December.

                                Now it has occured that due to a technical fault in MTNL's system the OD was produced for 1st of december and the change would be applicable from 1st of January and i have to pay any additional usage charges @ 1rupee per mb. ( What i can't understand is that why should i pay for MTNL's fault )

                                Please find a solution asap as i am not prepared to pay any additional usage charges because of MTNL's negligence.

                                Please track the time of the call when 48000098 number was issued by your representative and you would be able to see that the call was made on 30th of November.

                                Please find a workable solution for this as i have already contacted helpdesk, MTNL office and 1500 and nobody is the least bothered.
                                This is not the kind of support that is expected from such a big company.

                                MTNL Triband — LEAST SPEED THROUGH INTERNET

                                AS PER THE PLAN OF MTNL TRIBAND OF RS.999/- THE SPEED ASSURED IS 1 MB PER SECOND. HOWEVER, THE ACTUAL SPEED IS ONLY 128 KBPS.

                                THE MATTER WAS REPEATEDLY TAKEN UP WITH MTNL ONLINE HELP AND ALSO THROUGH REGISTERING COMPLAINTS. HOWEVER, NO IMPROVEMENT IN THE SPEED.

                                well, first of all, the sad part for you is MTNL is not wrong here, the problem is your lack of knowledge.
                                Actually the internet speed is specfied in terms of bits not bytes.
                                the MTNL provides speed of 1Mbps (not 1MBPS, notice the difference of capital 'B' and small 'b'). 'B' stands for byte and 'b' stands for bit.
                                1 byte= 8 bits.
                                Now 1Mbps= 1/8 (1MBPS) = 128KBPS which is the speed u are getting.
                                1 Megabits = 128 Kilobytes..
                                Hope u understood now...

                                I guess there is a clarification needed. Please read it as informed to me by an engineer.

                                When you buy a 512kbps plan, its 512 kilo bits per second. However our computer shows us 40-50 kBps. Note that here B is in caps which stands for bytes and not bits. Whatever plan you buy, jus divide it by 8 to get the download speed in bytes. This is not only done by mtnl but by all the ISP's in India. So if i am buying a 1Mbps plan I should expect 150kBps download speed on average. (This is what was told to me when i was also digging for answers to same question)

                                I agree to some extent that MTNL is a lethargic company, and inspite of subsidies and govt. backing it is so bad like any other public service. Mtnl is eventually going to loose the market. It has potential, the reach to less developed areas and already setup network with good price offerings, but their human support is lagging to a great extent to make decisions. This was in 2008, when my cousin had to wait for like 3 months to get a Broadband connection. Mtnl knew that demand is so high but did not prepare to meet this demand and in place lost the prospective customers to other cheating ISP's. One thing is clear Mtnl does not cheat but its lazy. Once my net connection used to break very often, a person asked me to pay him to get things fixed. (he wasn't an MTNL employee but yet had connections to go in and fix on routers at mtnl offices.)

                                As of now in 2010, the services have quite improved, when I called up to change my Plan, i didnt have to wait for a month to get it changed, i got the confirmation call the very next day and here it was---- changed and improved. Now they promise to give broadband connection in 4 days, and yup my friend got it in jus 4 working days.

                                Their call centre was still bad, but who cares they responded to my request and am quite happy to see this progress. They have the infra, jus need a lil sophistication in their approach to customer.

                                  I am Siva Purushothaman staying in Sector 22, Koparkhairane, Navi Mumbai. I am terribly upset with MTNL broadband services offered at our location. For the last one month, our broadband is down and am still paying the minimum charges of Rs. 500/-. Myself and my wife made several calls to MTNL service team and each time, they give us complaint number but no one turned up or gave us a return call to sort out our problem. Most importantly, every time we call up, they say that our complaint (number) was not registered in their system. To sort out this issue, we made several visits to MTNL office personally to complain but every time, they promise us to attend but in vain. Even we met higher authority and he complained us why we did not try to meet him before. Even his promises to sort out the problem gone in air. I am still struggling to get back our connection.

                                  I had a problem with my internet broadband connection, it had continuous interruptions.
                                  I kept complaining on the helpdesk, and they kept closing tickets, when my connection was working intermittently, but the real root cause was not being identified and fixed.
                                  Soon as i realised this i refused to allow the problem ticket to be closed and ultimately two engineers (Mr Thitte and Mr Maali) did come and conducted a complete investigation which involved making trip back to their office for getting equipment.
                                  But the root cause was identified and fixed in the same visit and now i have smooth service.
                                  Thanks to the engineers for completing the work sincerely.
                                  i had ( Tele no 2750009 ) problem since two months The Internet is not working properly. I was complaint more time but Koperkhairne MTNL Authorities are Dead .they Should not response till today

                                    MTNL broadband service is really the worst broadband service along with the customer support since the prices were slashed by MTNL. I had a talk with one personnel from MTNL regarding complaint and that guy was talking so rude and was saying go and do whatever u can, file complaint anywhere. I was stunned to see such a response when i just asked what sort of services MTNL is providing to customers even after i had made several complaints in that regard for the past one and a half to two months. These people are really ruthless and shameless in the way they speak to customers and i am very disturbed to see such a response when we pay them our hard-earned money for the services. I must say we really should not go for services like this organization is providing. They really dont have a sense of how much losses a customer might be incurring with their kind of attitude.

                                      MTNL is the Worst Internet Service provider

                                      I have used several internet connections but the worst kind of internet service in every aspect is by MTNL “Tri band”. I guess the name is correctly kept as (TRI BAND) “KITNA BHI ‘TRY’ KARO INTERNET HAMESA ‘BANDH‘ HI RAHEGA”.
                                      The connection goes off in every 2minutes, My Maximum free usage & valuable time goes while connecting to internet again & again it’s rather more about keep connecting rather than surfing & downloading. Its understood that the amount charged by MTNL is least as compared to other service provider but that doesn’t mean that as a consumer we are liable to take any kind of service they provide. Its not some social service they are doing every MB used is charged by them so what happenes when it comes to providing service.

                                      Some of My experiences with MTNL service
                                       Connection goes off in every 2-3minutes
                                       It takes hours to load pages which contains pictures
                                       WORST WORST & MORE WORST service experienced by the Customer service Representatives

                                       15-20 min of long call que before the call gets answered by some CSR

                                       After picking the call the CSR agent ask other lady in marathi “AAJ TU DABBAT KHAAYLA KAI AANLA AAHE??” than she starts with her call opening.

                                       Even without properly listening to an issue they just issue a Complain Number.

                                       If asked some more questions to CSR they just give the number of Deputy Engineer of the respective area where nobody picks the call

                                       Person making the house visit for solution of the issue answers “Sahab mai naya hai so I don’t know how to fix this issue”

                                       There is no commitment on the part of any of the service agent who are acting as Point of encounter.

                                       Best answer got so far from a CSR “What should I do if your internet connection is not working!!!”

                                      As a User of this ISP I would suggest every one who is going to opt for this ISP as his service provider to think 1000time before filling that application form for connection.

                                      So as consumer right Do I have any right to speakup against a government undertaking who is providing worst sort of service to its customer without any improvement even when the several complaints & objections raised against them???

                                      wat can i say, u have explained my frustration fully. JUST FILE A COMPLAINT AGAINST MTNL IN CONSUMER COURT!
                                      I have MTNL triband connection since the last 6 months. Uptil now, I was getting a bill of Rs. 700 p.m., this month suddenly the bill has gone up to Rs. 2500/-

                                      There was other complainants who were complaining that they were getting a bill of Rs. 3000/- even when their computer was down for the month...

                                      When you go and complaint to MTNL, they show some statistics, which has been downloaded at VSNL office. They are unable to provide details of sites visited, how much downloaded, what files etc.

                                      Very un-cooperative attitude, they asked me to change the plan to Rs. 999 unlimited plan.

                                      I changed to cable modem, Rs. 400 /- p.m, unlimited downloads. Thanks to MTNL, I got a cheaper and more workable option.
