My debit card stopped working last august (2018) all of a sudden and i have reached out to axis bank customer service. That was a basic debit card with no annual charges. Then axis bank sent me a new debit card after explaining about the benefits of the card (Blah blah). I used for a year till august 2019 and surprisingly they deducted 590 rupees as annual charges which were not communicated properly to me a year back.
I called axis customer support to check about this. They told me that i they have notified me about the annual charges which are not. Moreover seems like this card has been selected by themselves to me as per my profile out of tens of debit cards they provide. The benefits i get from this card are discount on bookmyshow and air travel accident insurance. I never used my card or internet banking for either of these; then how come this card has been chosen for me by axis? They have no answer about this.
They told me that they sent annual charges details along with the debit card details. I checked the envelope and couldn’t find any details about charges on the kit they sent which has benefits only. They have no answer about this too.
I have asked them to show the proof of call recording that i agreed for the annual charges. Again, they have no answer about this too.
I didn’t receive any email about this where i receive emails about useless schemes. Again, they have no answer about this.
My colleagues who are using the old basic debit cards have been receiving the calls to upgrade to premium debit cards. When i asked about this, they have no answer on this too.
After so many nos, they said big no to refund my amount which i haven’t approved or aware of. I told them i will apologize to the bank if i myself went for this card, but they refused to share the proof (They don’t have one but they claim they have)
Blocking the customers’ debit cards and trapping them to premium debit cards is the scam at axis. Selecting a card with benefits which i don’t actually claim as per my years of card usage tells the whole story of their scam.
What’s most insane thing is, axis customer support charges 1 rupee per minute for their word-class worst customer service. It took me 3 days, 7 persons and 100 minutes and 100 rupees to escalate this issue and getting an indirect answer from them that they have looted me.
Axis Bank customer support has been notified about the posted complaint.

Just because you have mentioned the card charges at one corner of your website, will you loot customers by issuing unauthorized new cards by making their old cards non-functional? When a card stopped working and customer reported with a request, why don't you just provide the same card? But you are taking advantage of critical situation and making money by selling useless premium cards. Seems like you don't have an answer for any of my above questions or new questions. Let me check if I proceed legally.

No reply yet. I came to know debit card issue charges also have been imposed to me. Better you close the bank shameless. You make the card non-functional and issue the card with issue charges and annual charges. I think I need to take multiple threads on this. Worst bank ever.
