I had booked 3 tickets from Chandigarh to Pune for 21st October. I received a mail regarding confirmation of payment and schedule. Afterwards, I requested the airline executive to share the cost of changing the day of arrival for one subject. During this conversation he confirmed with me if I really wanted to get the changes made, and I consented.
He worked up the cost after my consent and shared the link for making payment with me post two days. Now, my plans had changed and I no longer wanted to continue with the change. So, I didn't pay and assumed that the tickets I bought earlier stand applicable.
I received another call from the agent saying that the change for one passenger were made final and that she would only be able to travel on the new date. I questioned how this happened without me paying for it. However, I didn't get any concrete response from the airline executive except that the company policy denies her from travelling on 21st but she could on the new date. They even observed my call to ensure whether or not the company executive had confirmed the aforementioned wish 3 times. It turned out he did and hence, I have been asked to first pay for the rescheduled date and then again for the original date.
This incident has rendered my original ticket cancelled and in case I wish to reschedule, I am to pay twice the rescheduling fee.
My questions and problems:
1. If the airlines protect their capitalist interest by observing a call and ensuring their executive followed the code, why is the customer kept in dark about the entire policy and its repercussions? I express that I wish to get changes made, I do not make payment for the change, I again request them to cancel my second request, why do I have to pay for the rescheduling twice? It is to be noted that the fee is equivalent to buying a new ticket. Why is the customer's interest not being protected by this agency?
2. I cannot buy the ticket for the same date myself. If that is to be done, I will have to follow the link they have shared with me, hence paying the rescheduling fee twice. Moreover, there is no refund if I do not follow their link. So why not implement a policy that payment if not done in 48 hours, then the flight booking is returned to the original date?
This is such a nuisance and is causing a lot of mental torture and hurting me and my family emotionally for not able to be financially well-off and cannot feed the hunger of these so called lowest cost airline!
