I started using broadband services on January 03, 2016 provided by Tikona Digital Networks. I made a prepayment Rs.2519 which included payment towards the installation charges and broadband services for next 3 months.
The billing cycle of the service started from 26th of each month.
I received a bill from Tikona Digital Networks on January 26, 2016 amounting to Rs.858.75 which was to be paid within February 12, 2016. I did not receive any mail for this bill but only an SMS. On inquiring through phone call, Tikona Care executive told me that this amount was charged for the broadband service usage from the day the service was activated (January 03, 2016) till the day the billing cycle started(January 26, 2016). As per his information, the 3 months that I made payment for should have started on January 26, 2016. I made the payment for Rs.858.75 on February 11, 2016.
I received more bills for the next 2 months for billing cycles ending on February 26, 2016 for Rs.480.44 and March 26, 2016 for Rs.552.19. However, the Tikona Care representatives told me not to make any payment since these were included in the prepayment I made on January 03, 2016.
On April 10, 2016, the broadband services discontinued. When I complained to the Tikona Care representatives, they told that I must make the payment of Rs.552.19 to continue the services. Outraged, I asked them to give me a detailed account of complete services utilization and the charges associated. They could not explain why this bill has to be paid. As per my understanding, the prepayment of Rs.2519 should have included this bill as well.
Totally I made a payment of Rs.3377.75 to Tikona Digital Networks since January 03, 2016 which should have included all the charges til April 26, 2016. After continuous complaints from my side, they could give me any satisfactory answers as to why I have to make another payment of Rs.552.19 before April 12, 2016. When I asked, 'why the services are discontinued?' or 'why do I have to pay another bill?' or 'why does the first payment of Rs.2519 doesn't include this bill?'; all they could answer was 'I do not have that information as of now.'
I told them to disconnect the services and refund my remaining money as I do not want anything to do with them. They told that I should take 7 days to see if anyone in my area wants that connection as they wont charge any installation fee. I told them I don't want anyone else to face problems like me.
Unfortunately, all the above conversation happened on call and I did not write to them. They told me on April 24, 2016 that the services were disconnected, but I must make the payment for Rs.552.19. When I asked for the reason, the representative told me that this was an advanced payment for the next billing cycle. I refused to make any payment since I won't be using there services anymore.
Over the next 3 months, I kept receiving mails, SMSs and automated phone calls for the bill payment. I called them multiple times telling them to stop any communication. Ultimately they stopped receiving my calls (When I call them from my registered number, no Tikona Care representative receives my call). I still receive all the communication stated above.
On October 30, 2016, I wrote an email to Tikona Care at [protected]@tikona.in stating that I am no longer using any Tikona services and all the payment related communication must stop. I did not receive any reply for the same. All the automated communication (emails, SMSs and phone calls) still continue.
On December 26, 2016 at 10.05 am, I received a call from [protected]. The lady from the other end said that she's a government lawyer and is calling to inform that Tikona Digital Networks has filed a complaint against my name. She wanted to ask if I would be ready with my lawyer to attend the next hearing or if I wanted an out of court settlement. I told her my entire experience with Tikona. I asked her what if I want to sue Tikona Digital Networks first. She told I must make the payment and then she'll issue a No-Objection Certificate with which I can go to the consumer forum. I told her to tell her client to at least talk to me since they are not responding to any of my communication. She said she's not one to talk to Tikona on my behalf. I asked her to give me some time to contact Tikona Digital Networks first.
I tried to call Tikona Care immediately but no one received my call after waiting for long. I tried the same multiple times and from different numbers. The abovesaid lawyer again called me at 12.24 pm and gave me a number 'DLC/VLC/****/2016'. I called her again to tell me the details of the case.
Following is the conversation.
She : 'I can not tell you the file number again and again and the file has already gone to the magistrate. You just go to the nearest police station and tell the number.'
I : 'I am on my way to the police station and I just wanted to know the number. I lost it.'
She: 'I don't have it I can't tell it.'
I : 'Please help me. You must have some record of all the file numbers somewhere.'
She : 'I don't have any records.'
I : 'Can you please tell me your name?'
She : 'I am a government employee. I can't tell you my name.'
I : 'Please at least tell me which court and which magistrate.'
She : 'You will receive the related documents. Don't ever call me on this number again. I don't ever want to talk to you.'
(She disconnected.)
Tikona Digital Networks took Rs.3377.75 from me and has provided me broadband services for 3 months and 1 week. They are demanding that I pay them Rs.1304.17 more as of now that includes all the late fees. They've not only looted me but have also harrassed me throughout the year.
I want Tikona Digital Networks to give me a detailed account of all the money that I paid them and how that has applied to the broadband services that I availed. They should refund me the money that is unaccounted for and apologize for all the harrassment that they've caused me so far with a promise of no further communication.
