Myself is Sardar B. Pachimbare, Currently leaving in Doha, Qatar.
I am using Axis bank saving account (A/C. No. [protected]) from last 4-5 years & it is with Goregaon (E) branch Mumbai & My banking experience was excellent till July 2016.
I moved Qatar in May 2016. I visited to India in July 2016 for some family reason & for my NRI status I was interested to open the NRE account in Axis bank only. Even my busy schedule I visited to Axis Kharadi Branch, Pune & Meet Mr. Dharmendra for the same. I brief him my requirement for NRE account which is as below & his answers also their.
1.
I would like to open NRE account which is zero or minimum balance maintain.
- We will open your account as a Zero balance account
2. If Possible I would like to convert my saving account to the NRE account.
- It is not possible, you can use your saving account as it is, we will create new NRE a/c for you
3. I am first time opening the NRE account Please brie[censored]s if there any charges involved.
- There no addition charges involved.
4. I would like to receive the welcome kit by hand in branch.
- We will send welcome kit through courier & if it undelivered it comes to home branch then we can give you by hand.
5. What is timeline to open the account?
- Maximum 1 week.
After 2 week I received a welcome email from Axis bank & that was the surprise for me. In the email written this account should maintain monthly 2 lakhs balance & as well as debit card display charges is Rs. 1400 will be deducted from my account.
Immediately I contacted to branch peoples for the same, but they say it is priority service banking & you have to maintain the amount & pay the credit card charges. After log the complaint I got clarification from Service head & branch head, there is no charges will apply on non-balance maintain & if I not maintain the balance the account will downgrade to zero balance as well as they will revert my debit card charges. When I asking about the welcome kit, branch head denied to give the welcome kit by hand, when I explain him about the Dharmendra commitment, he told me Dharmendra spending his 8-9 years in banking & he is not giving this commitment to you, I make a con call with both of them, Dharmendra agreed to the same. But again branch head send the welcome kit on my previous address, even after 2 months I didn’t receive the same.
One more surprise was waiting for me, when I received the account statement I seen my saving account is converted to NRO, I again wrote to branch head & he brief me if customer status is changed to NRI your all saving accounts converted to NRO & you should maintain the 10K balance every month & there is some charges for NEFT transfer. As per my opinion, they should provide me the all information to me before opening the account, I denied all their terms, because of their wrong handling why I have to pay the money & even I don’t want any NRO account.
This is painful experience for me, there was only one request to open the NRE account & they messing my whole banking experience. I feel this is wastage the time for customer as well as bank.
I am also working in service industry & I always taking care of my customers. If you see the below email trail, you also feel as a top banking brand your branch head not follow the email ethics even. After two months long conversation & lot of harassment I feel I begging to bank to the loan.
For increase the business they given me wrong information & even they are not interested to reply my concerns.
Finally I wrote to the bank to close my both accounts even I didn't receive the welcome kit. I feel this is wastage of time of customer. I feel they are doing purposely harassment of customers & their ego is bigger than their company. Many times branch head is not follow the email ethics, he just wrote me email like his junior or loan holder.
