dell is really the worst company i have ever faced. Details of complaint are in the form of letter to their maanger:
Sir,
I am a regular customer of dell, I have purchased 4 Laptops
already, this is the 5th laptop i am purchasing. I am very sorry to
say that the customer support and commitment of DELL is depleting.
Case Status:
I had booked dell vostro 1510 laptop on 31st July 2008 and was
commited by the salesperson Abhishek Shukla that my osder would reach
to me within 15 days, but now it has been more than 20 days that my
order has been received. I made a call at dell on the 13 or 14 and my
call was attended by Ms. Kaveri, She told me about some part shortage
problem and also promised that the Laptop would be moved from
manufacturing department by 14th ATMOST and my order will be received
by 19th August. On 18th again i called and i was told that the part
shortage problem still persists, i was totally dummed and i was given
a small compensatation to breifer my anger. i requested her to tell
the exact date on which i will receive the order but she didn't
cleared me exactly which date my order will be received. Today again i
called her and again the reply was same, I asked her to tranfer the
call to her manager, she transfered to her manager Mr. John. I talked
to him and again the same thing i listened .
Also, my father had to guwahati on 19th and was supposed to take the
laptop but now he has to face a lot of problems.
Not only this, among all stated above i had to call several (30- 40)
times to talk to kaveri reason being????????.
Among this, i am in class 12th (non medical) and undergoing crucial
year, and your representatives are not bothered about anything.
Therefore, sir it is requested to please look into the matter
personally, and if you cant deliver early, then please atleast give
an appreciable compensation.
Please reply as early as possible. I will be grateful to you.

Lead time for laptops / desktop is 3 weeks, and they keep up to the promise, for spares its much more. For metros the supply chaing is good, but for non metros the ETA is much more due to various state clearance.
Support, getting to the tech support guy on the phone is taking time nowadays, but once u get him, he tries to find out the error and ships the part in as per the support contract u have, and its done.
Suggest you take Complete Cover Support for laptops
I know they have issues, but when I compare the support I get from HP & CISCO, Dell is good and I vote for them.
