I was trying to book a tatkal ticket today through my irctc account. Everytime I logged in I was taken to the intermediate page of the Next Generation e ticketing system. Everytime I clicked on Proceed for Booking, the page could not load, even after 11 am on different browsers. However when I tried the same from my friend's place, with my id, I was not taken to the Next generation system. Instead I was directly taken to the familiar Plan My Travel page and was successfully able to book the ticket, received pnr, sms as well as email. However when I try to log in from my own laptop, I'm again taken to the Intermediate page and the problem persists. This is awful as I can't even cancel/print the ticket from my id. I have tried calling the IRCT Customer Care several times on both the Toll free no. as well as the Mobile no. but either its too busy for the last 2 hours or the call can't be completed. I expected the Next Generation e ticketing system to be faster, but forget booking tatkal ticket I can't even view my new booked history. What kind of a shoddy system is this.
