I had booked oyo rooms earlier at nainital and had quite good experience. But this time my experience with oyo rooms has been horrible. Let me narrate in bullets :
• first while booking – as soon as i searched the oyo site to book a room for me and my wife, at about midnight, their marketing started. Without asking for, i was offered about 10% discounted price and the online person told me the offer is for very limited time and shall not be valid the next day. So although i was feeling sleepy, i paid online.
- it’s all marketing gimmick as i realized later.
• i booked a room at hadapsar, pune from four days, as my daughter was staying there, and i wanted to visit her. But they gave me a direction note without mentioning which hotel the room existed, for which getting the hotel was a terrible task. I reached hadapsar square, pune at 10 pm and for one hour went on searching. No body could help from the direction given and when they asked for the hotel name, i couldn’t give. I don’t understand why the oyo people keep the hotel name secret, when we can know it as soon as we arrive. The contact no. Given was continuously engaged. The no. Was a hyderabad no., which diverted the call to pune hotel. After stenuous search i found its name was ‘park view service appartment’. (But it mentioned ‘classic nest’ in bills.)
• as it was late, and i had picked up my daughter, who stayed nearby, i wanted her to stay with us for the night and told the hotel that we don’t need extra bed or breakfast, she may just be allowed to stay. They straight denied and charged extra. The bill is shown below.
• coming to the room, the room didn’t have any space for extra bed, just two 2’6’’ wide cots and about 2’ space around. The room had crack in the wall and full of dirt. The wifi was weak and not working most of the time. The photos are given below.
• there was a mini toilet, which was not attached. The toiletries consisted of a soap which my dog wouldn’t bath with, a pouch of shampoo and a pouch of oil, which the would be customers may see in the photo given below. After i checked in, the next day some problem with their solar hitting occurred, such that all taps gave only hot water.In this summer month of may, we could not even wash our face, forget taking bath.
After ablution the hand shower didn’t stop even after use for long time, there by making entire body and floor wet. The video is attached.
• breakfast was terrible. Poha, or paratha with option of cornflakes. We take toast and omlet for breakfast. When i asked for it, we were charged extra for omlet and morning tea! The sample bills are attached.
• we had booked for four days, from 5th to 9th may, 2016. I arrived at about 11pm on 5th, and getting fed up, when enquired to cancel in the afternoon of next day, the hotel person told that that was the second day, and as i had booked in a ‘discounted’ price, a per oyo rules, i will be charged for three days and only one day refund may be given. Then i understood the marketing strategy of ‘discount’.
I lodged complain under case id 302983. They told somebody will call back. They didn’t. Called them twice later. Nothing happened. I want to warn all the would be customers of oyo rooms, there were better hotels / service apartments nearby at half the price, with more homely and conducive environment. I shall not recommend oyo henceforth.
