Reg : Complaint about Sony’s poor television and service

I am a lady senior citizen of 81 years old. At my house I was having a BPL colour television for about 15 years, which was working excellently without giving me any trouble. At the most once in a year or so there used to be some minor repairs. On making the complaint the authorised service center personnel of BPL used to visit my house promptly and make the required service at very nominal charges and cost.

During the year 2010 on the recommendation of my brother’s son I had purchased a Sony Bravia EX 300 26 inches LCD colour television costing about Rs.29000/-. It shall be noted that the cost of similar type of television of other competitive manufacturers at that time was very less when compared to Sony. However my brother’s son insisted me to buy Sony informing that it is a quality product.

After purchasing the Sony TV, I gave my BPL TV to my housemaid. Even today the BPL TV is working fine at my maids house.

On 15th November 2012 the picture of my Sony TV went blank. I made a complaint for which Sony assured sending support personnel within 48 hours. Even after 48 hours they did not respond. After once again making the request they sent the service personnel after another 48 hours.

The service personnel who came to my house checked the TV and informed that there could be a motherboard problem. He also informed that it would cost about Rs.5000/- for me since the TV is not covered under warranty (more than one year had lapsed since purchase). I agreed to bear the cost with protest because I never expected that Sony would manufacture products with inferior quality, which needs to be replaced within a period of about one and half years. Further my usage was hardly about two hours a day. Further between September 2010 to April 2011 my house was locked since I have to undergo a knee operation. After operation I stayed at my brother’s house for recuperation. Hence during the above said period my Sony TV was not under constant usage.

The service personnel who came to my house said that he would bring a new motherboard next day and fix the same. The next day he came with a new motherboard, fixed the same and switch on the TV. But the TV did not work. The service personnel said that the problem is not with the motherboard and it is due to the LCD screen. He further said that the LCD screen had been worn out and the same needs to be replaced. He also said that the same would cost me about Rs.9000/-. I also agreed to bear the cost with strong protest as there is no way I could get out of this mess.

The service personnel also said that on me giving approval he would order for a new LCD screen and it would take one-week time to be delivered and fixed in my TV. He further said that the new LCD screen is not available in India and the same has to be ordered and brought in from Singapore. After about ten days time and after repeated phone calls the service personnel brought a new LCD screen. The same was fixed to my TV. To our surprise the TV did not work. The service personnel said that he has to take the entire TV to their office for checking.

Without giving any official receipt my entire TV alongwith LCD screen (new) was taken by the service personnel. Even after four to five days there was no communication or response from them. After repeated phone calls I was told that the brand new LCD screen brought in by them from Singapore was also not functioning and having a manufacturing defect (such is the quality of Sony). The Service center personnel said that they have placed order for fresh LCD screen, which has to be ferried once again from Singapore.

Inspite of repeated follow up over phone, email….etc till date (31st December 2012) Sony has not bothered to fix the problem and return back my TV in good working condition. Whenever I call them they simply say that they have ordered for new LCD screen and yet to receive the supply. It shall be noted that Sony has taken more than 45 days and till date (31.12.2012) they did not bother to provide me with good service and return back my TV in working condition.

Due to my knee operation I am confined to my home and I do not have any other entertainment other than watching TV for about two hours a day. That happiness is also taken away from me by Sony due to their indifferent attitude towards Indian customers and poor quality service. It has also caused much mental agony for me because I had spent so much of my hard earned money in buying the Sony TV.

Having seen my mental agony my brother’s son was forced to purchase a new television for me for Rs.45000/- on 26th December 2012. Since he has recommended Sony, he was very much upset, embarrassed and repeatedly apologized to me. He did not even took money from me to buy the new TV. He spent the money for the new television from his own pocket accepting his mistake for recommending an inferior quality Sony product.

I am now left in complete dark and wonder when Sony would return my TV duly repaired in good working condition. What guarantee Sony will provide for the repaired TV. How Sony is going to compensate me for lack of service for the past 45 days and forcing me to buy a new television costing about Rs.45000/-.
I also wish to ask the following queries to Sony

Ø How a much advertised television product of Sony claimed to be of high quality could get repaired within a period of two years.
Ø Inspite of selling 1000’s of TV’s in India, Why Sony does not have sufficient replacement parts as stock in India. Why they bring it from Singapore and indirectly force the customer to bear the shipment cost incurred for bringing it from Singapore to India.
Ø Why the replacement LCD screen brought in from Singapore failed to work. How it was certified by Sony Quality personnel for shipment and despatch at Sony factory?
Ø Why Sony’s service personnel or their customers service personnel did not bother to call me on their own and provide me with correct information.
Ø Why Sony is taking such a long time (more than 45 days) to simply repair a television. Is this the quality of service rendered by them.

    I had submitted a sony xperia s, purchased on 16th november 2012, to accel frontline, a sony authorized service center, for range problem with my phone. They returned my phone, but the issues still persists. I had to give my phone for servicing two times till now, and they did not do anything. The service centre took 10 days to repair and even after the repair, the condition of the handset is the same. Kindly address the issue.

      i have a problem with my laptop. i gave it in service center and they changed the OS. but within a week it started troubling me like i can't access internet in my laptop even i use any type of connection where as others are connecting to internet. i again consulted them but they are not so educated to solve the problems of this kind. please accept my complaint and make me get a better service

        This is Ankit Singh an unfortunate customer of Sony Vaio, purchased on
        November 4, 2012 (Model SVE 15123CNW, Serial No. 7005395) from Sandeep Marketing Uttam Nagar.

        The web cam of Vaio is not working properly from the last one week. I
        have complained many times to the customer care executives on
        [protected]. The executives do not seem to have either the ability or
        the spirit to listen to the problem of a customer. I followed all
        their instructions but they could not solve my problem. Sometime they
        disconnect the number without even listening to my problem. I have
        never expected this kind of treatment from a Brand MNC Customer Care.
        Following are some reference numbers they provided to me.

        4. Call disconnected by customer care representative.

        I have heard lots about Sony and its services. But when you expereince
        something yourself, only then you realise the value of that product.
        Please don't make me feel that I have made a mistake to buy a Sony
        product.

        You are kindly requested to please look into the matter and do the needful ASAP.

          Dear Sir
          I brought a new mobile handset of Sony Xperia on dasehara.
          Within 8 days having problems with display.
          Due to official problem not possible for me to show handset to service station.
          So I contacted service station on 10th day.
          At that time handsets having more problems as follows
          1. On display lines reflected
          2. Sim 1 network not available many times
          3. Network problem
          4. Net speed slow
          5. Sound problem like eco sound

          When I contacted service station I asked for pls provide me new handset but executive said that our policy is handset replace within 7 days.
          We will only repair it & your handset repair within 8 days.
          So I submit my handset but I not receive my handset within timeline.
          Now I received my handset but again few problems like net speed & network problem not resolved.

          My complete is if company not replace handset after 7 days then why not they repair it within 7 days.

            Problem - Once the handset is locked, it was not getting unlocked and had to restart the phone.

            I bought a new Sony Xperia Ray on 10th Nov 2012, When I used the cell, I was shocked to know that once I lock the cell phone, I was not able to unlock the cell.

            I went to Sony Service Center in Mumbai - Borivali(West) , SG Info. on 1st of Dec 2012. They took the handset and said we will inform you the problem shortly. I never received any call from either service center or customer care.
            Later I chased SG Info. and Sony help line[protected] multiple time ( Not less than 10 Calls and twice I visited the service center as the phone number which is provided is always busy) and the reply which I received always was " the display was a issue, they need to purchase the part and replace it". which took them 20 day and on 20th Dec 2012, I received a call that your handset is repaired and can be collected.

            On 21 Dec I went to the service center and found out that the handset was not repaired. They had changed the display and the camera, still the problem was still present.
            I returned the handset and he issued me a new ticket number ([protected] ) which was for changing of the mother board.

            I am trying to reach them since then but still I am not getting any confident answer of when I will be receiving my handset and I am not sure if after changing of Motherboard will my problem be resolved,

            Also I have some other questions,
            1. Does it really take 20 day to get part from the company. Even a small repair shop in my location will be able to get any part in less than 3 day.

            2. When the service center changed the part did they check if the problem is resolved? Since if they had then I am sure they would have known that it not repaired.

            3. When I visited the service center, there was one Customer who had a problem with Camera back in June (Don’t remember the Model). The phone was replaced. Now again the same problem had occurred, but to my surprise the service center is not ready to do anything as they say it now because of some liquid damage. This is a serious concern as I have so many problem with my cell ( The Screen has been replaced, Camera had been replaced and now motherboard.) and later if the same issue occurs, then?

            4. Isn’t it a responsibility of Sony Crevice Center to inform the customer what they are doing with the cell phone.

            5. Why do they have to issue a new ticket number, since now its showing in the system that I have submitted my handset on 21-Dec-2012 which is not correct.

              I have Purchased Brand New Sony Handset Xperia White bearing IMEI No.[protected] from Sales India Pvt. Ltd, Ahmedabad through Debit card on Dt.17/06/2012 through Payment of Rs.16500/-.
              There was some problem in the mobile handset in july and therefore I visited authorized service centre of Sony India Pvt. Ltd. For Mobile and stated that within very short span of one month my mobile handset with warranty is not working properly and thereafter they kept the said mobile handset with them for repairing .
              When I approached them to collect my mobile, the Service Centre official,in very rude manner,stated that the repairing is not covered under the warranty and if you want your Mobile Handset back than you have to sign Printed satisfactory Note first.Hence I had to sign the said printed form and mentioned that there is no physical external damage and also stated that I am not satisfied (Dt.26/07/2012 on work order Number sheet no.SE[protected])
              They have stated in their work order sheet that Problem reported: Crack In Display and Display Broken and the same is wrong description for internal defect of mobile handset to avoid repairing. They themselves have also mentioned on the same job sheet that “BODY NOT DAMAGE BUT DISPLAY DAMAGE”.
              Despite the handset being in warranty period the Service centre had not repaired the said Mobile under warranty and therefore the same is clear deficiency in service and negligence.
              I have purchased the said handset only on the name and goodwill of the company Sony but I am not satisfied with the service and defective handset which is not working within very short span of one month. I am suffering from mental agony and trauma due to rude behavior and defect found in very short span in the said mobile where there is no external damage. I have also taken report of Surveyor, Loss Assessors A. Dave & Co. and as per surveyor report also “based on our inspection, we opine that in absence of any physical damage to the handset whilst switching on the instrument it start malfunctioning on the screen. In our opinion, it might be due to defects occurred in any of the internal components..”.
              I had to use my relative's mobile handset for the said period and thereafter I have purchased brand new handset of Rs.8000 for my use.
              I had also approached Executives of Sony, Ahmedabad Mr. Varun Agarwal (Ph.-[protected]) & Mr. Alpesh (Ph.-[protected]). They were also convinced that there is no physical damage & also told us that they would forward the case further. But after that no action has been taken.
              So,Kindly look into the issue and replace the said Handset with brand New handset and with fresh warranty or with Brand New Handset of same price.

                I bought Sony Mobile model noW705 on 23.4.2010 in Trichy,Tamilnadu invoice no 88 shop name Fone Zone,41,Tabs Complex,Cantonment,Trichy-620001
                The said mobile become out of order 3 months back.
                I took the mobile to Authorized service center located in Thillainagar,Trichy
                They refused to accept the service.Reason they said that this model is obsolete one.
                I can not understand that I spent Rs10700/- But after 2 years it become out of order .Service center not accept to undertake service.
                He also refused to check and give certificate for it.But during Oct'12 when i go for replacement of headset for the same model they did not inform about the obsolete and sold me headset at Rs1000/- which is also become not usable now.
                I gave complaint on toll free number complaint id:94046534 dt 10.11.12
                Earlier I gave the complaint to call center on 25.10.2012
                So far no action or reply from end.
                Now today also I have contacted call center spoke to smt.Akansha at 9.13 hrs complaint no 94336489
                Sh also said that since it is obsolete model we wont take service.
                Please clarify
                1) Why it is not informed to me when I bought headset at Rs1000/-?
                2) Why it is not taken for checking and produce certificate about condition of mobile?
                3) Why asking to me thrown away after 2 years worth of Rs10700/-+1000/-?
                4) Is it my fault to become obsolete model after 2 years?

                  from Jodhpur, Rajasthan on 10.01.2013. and from that day I am facing problems of restarting. It gets automatically restarted again and again. I had also gone to your service center in Dehradun many times but they just said they had done an software updation and now you will not face this problem, sometimes they say your phones motherboard is defective so it needs to be changed afterwards they said that it is not having any problem and there is also a problem in audio jack of the device but they say its OK and working properly.



                  They are not responding me properly. I had not expected this kind of attitude and service from a brand like Sony, before purchasing this phone I had not even thinked of other companies just thought that no compromise in brand and Sony is the best but i m facing many problems regarding this phone and i want my phone changed as only a month had passed and i am facing many problems.


                  I had also attached a video in which you can see the phone is restarting and taking so much time to on again, but then also your service center people say that its working properly. sir i am using this phone and i know it is not working properly that, s why I am coming to you again and again and mark my words because of your bad customer service you will lose your market soon. your products are really very good, before purchasing this phone i had not even thinked once about the brand i was strongly in favor of Sony but now because of these problems no i m regretting that i should have thought of Samsung once.


                  I hope you will solve my problem or else i had no other option left other than moving towards consumer forum.

                    Sony cybershot camera Model No.DSC-W610/SQ E32 S/N 0400681

                    I have bought sony camera on 12th May 2012, now the camera is giving " Turn the power off & on again" massage since 5th dec,2012

                    The lens is not getting opening even after switch off & on again.

                    I have shown the camera to local service Center , Lareru services, Baroda.

                    As per them this camera is fall down or lens is pressed hardly by someone, so you need to replace the lens & this will not cover under warranty. The price for new lens will be Rs.1707/-

                    Well, the camera was never fall down or pressed hardly by some. There is no sign of physical damage on it . I am using digi cam for many years. I have never found this kind of problem anytime anywhere. I am always keeping the camera on the pouch given by sony.


                    They ( laheru services) has signed the service job sheet from me , in which they have said that it was tempered , why would i or any body tempered it if it is under warranty . they have even not given copy of same to me .

                    This is really not acceptable service from their dealer .

                    After this i have sent email to sony on 05th , 10th & 22nd, but still there is no reply from sony. every time i ma getting automatic generated request no. nothing else

                    on 22nd i contacted their consumer care no., as per my discussion they will not repair this camera as their dealer as informed physical damage on it.I have told them that i will send pic of the camera where there is no physical damage, but they dont want to listen us.

                    Tell me who will be responsible if you local dealer is doing some improper thing.

                    I have attached their estimate ,my invoice & warranty card.

                    Pls do the needful as soon as possible.

                    I have experienced vast & lower category & useless service from sony & sony dealer.

                      i called lot of time for same complaint/issue on your service center numbers-[protected],[protected], [protected] however you gays are not interested to make customer, as a civilized person i already complained in SONY service center(c-54, g.floor, sect-02, noida, up, email-jaypeeelectronics.[protected]@gmail.com, ph-[protected],[protected], [protected])for repair of laptop sony vaio model number-vpceb24en/B, after service the laptop, service center staff said to me that your laptop warranty from sony side has been lapsed and your extended warranty of 2 year is in from croma center(ansal plaza knowledge park 1 unit 16, AG21&AG22 greater Noida UP, 0120, 4514600)so you need to contact to croma center.
                      however the main issue is sony center generated the bill of Rs.18000 which not acceptable, i already dined for that than after they agree for 50 % bill rebate or ask to me take a approval from croma center for FOC service.

                      please help to resolve my issue on priority its my 1st gentle request.

                      note-its not 1st time to facing issue with laptop, i am facing last 1.5 year but not get permanent solution.

                      please take step to resolve, please find supported document on attachment.

                      Sony VAIO — laptop warranty issued but not received

                      I, Dhruv O. Jadia, have been your customer since 21/05/2007. I bought a Sony Vaio laptop VGN-AR38G s/n 7000400 from IT SQUARE (Div. of Pacific I.P.L.), Shop no 9 &10, 393, Shamita Terrece, D. B. Marg, Mumbai - 400004. I also bought an additional warranty of 2 years on 15/06/2007 from same place. So along with 2 years additional warranty I also have 1 year free warranty from the company itself and thus it makes total 3 years of warranty. Though I have yet not received my warranty card. I have been calling the IT SQUARE office since long time; still I am not getting proper response. I stay in Ahmedabad and it is really difficult for me to contact the IT SQUARE office every now and then but even though I have sent few staff members of my office to the IT SQUARE office since I am not getting proper response. Also on much request they have issued a journal voucher stating repairing expense for my warranty card. Also I am told that the IT SQUARE office has already sent my warranty request to the head office which is at New Delhi. I still have no clue why is this process of issuing warranty card taking so much of time. I am really tired of repeatedly calling the IT SQUARE office.

                      Every time when I call up, I am told that I will receive my warranty card shortly but now it has been more than 2 years and still I have not received my warranty card. These days IT SQUARE office is not even giving me proper response and answer to my queries. Also now the internal hard disk of my laptop is not working and now I need the warranty card to get the replacement of the same. My lot of work has been pending due to this problem.
                      Ok i bought this sony vaio laptop VPCCW16FG..from kaula lumpur ..i stay in mumbai (india)
                      ..my first compliain they dint give me windows n drives CD..second the battery doesnt even last hour n takes time to recharge...
                      ...i bought this laptop around September 2009..i do hve international warranty card
                      ...Can i hve lil help here

                      i already dined for that than after they agree for 50 % bill rebate or ask to me take a approval from croma center for FOC service.after complaint on consumer forum they less the remaining bill also but still they not resolve the issue of sony LED (blur/yellow screen/high brightness/after reduce the brightness screen blinking)and also they damaged my laptop physically and ask to me to paid Rs.12000 for LED replacement, please help to check which not bit of amount of laptop, its amount Rs.43890 of total sum, its a huge amount, if they not ready to work on my laptop, i will case on both company sony and croma for physically and mentally harassment, its enough.

                      if take it seriously because i am not rich person, can not bare the Rs.12000 sony LED amount, so resolve on priority.

                              I bought a product from the above mentioned reliance digital address store. At the time of purchasing I discussed with Staff member venkatesh.t. EC ID : 59001929 that what is the benefits to buy a product from reliance digital with price 9300R.s. He told me that if you buy a product from reliance digital in case of any damage in your product you have to come to nearest reliance digital store the problem will resolve by us with in short time.
                              And I faced some problem regarding to battery and I came to reliance digital store near kachiguda. And I discussed the problem with reliance digital staff. And I am just socked after every bodes response .They told me you have to go personally to Sony service center and clear your problem we will not help you only we will give you address.
                              So what is the benefit to purchase product from reliance, actually the product is available online at R.S 8700. from best dealer . If you want to check the price go www.tradus.com…… Eventhough there is less price I purchase product from reliance with R.s 9300. And i am not satisfied. with your staff review.


                              If customer face some problem where he go…..Not to service center he go where he bought the product.


                              And your Staff Member VENKATESH.T , E.C ID 59001929 is a big big big big lier…..He break my TRUST.. AND I AM SURE THAT I WILL NOT DEAL ANY PRODUCT OR VISIT YOUR RELIANCE STORE ANY MORE…..BECAUSE I HATE LIRE….And I asked for him ID the first of all the staff refuse me to give him ID…And after some discussion they provide me….

                              Personally very bad experience I faced …..That is my first and last deal with RELIANCE DIGITAL…..Actually I also planed to purchase HARD DRIVE OF SEGAT ….but after that experience i drop my plan…….

                              I hope your staff should be clear at the time THE customer purchase the product…..Because it is the metter of trust…

                              One more thing i have to mention that i asked your staff how may I complain they give me not any guidance... And I told them I want to meet manager ... Every body telling I am manager discuss with me.. I found here three manager....

                                as my issue i have tried to contact Mr.Bhuwan who is looking at my case but he is unable to handle my case properly and gives me a false information reguarding my case.

                                i have submitted my sony xperia st-18i at Accel Frontline Service Ltd(sony authorized service centre) on 30/10/2012.And til now i have not recved my cell and whenever i try to know the status of my cell then they forward the deliver date and use to say that i will be able to receve my cell on this perticular date but as usual they again postpone the delivery date.
                                this is not the first time i'm get this type of problem i have purchased my cell on 08of may 2012 and from last 4-5month my cell is at service centre.

                                  Hi ,

                                  I purchased Sony Xperia X10i from Cochin around 1.5 year back .I got that from one resale shop . Now the phone is out of warranty . Recently I had a small issue with the software of Xperia X10i .As every technician know , Xperia X10i wont charge the phone if the software crash .We cant even fix the software issue using sony ericsson update services without 50% battery charge .

                                  How are we supposed to get a help on this . I took the phone to Authorized service center Now the real fun comes .

                                  1 ) They had a look at the phone and agreed its a software issue .
                                  2 ) They checked the IMEI number and told this phone is imported one , So they cant support ,I have to take the phone back to abroad to get the fix
                                  3 ) I requested them to atleast charge my battery , So I could use Sony update service to fix . so they told they cant ....
                                  4 ) They dont even have a new battery to purchase ... What I am supposed to do ?

                                  I understand the fact , the phones from different place would have different ROM . But what is stopping them from charging the battery ?

                                  If that really matters Sony should have to come up with something to charge the battery even the phone is having software issue ....


                                  DELAYED SERVICE IS DENIED SERVICE , So what would U call DENIED Service as ......

                                      I had purchased Sony Xperia GO ST27i on 31th October2012 for Telephone Shop pee Pune for 16,500 / INR.For 2nd day onwards I was facing a problem of sending SMS I was receiving Messages but was enable to send which I had reported to seller from Telephone shop pee Mr.Anand a representative for SONY products.He Told me to submit the Phone in SONY service station for repair and assured that it will be replaced and I will get a new packed piece.
                                      I submitted my cell In SONY station on 16th Nov 2012 Job card No W[protected] and was told that i will get my cell within 1 weeks time.I got my cell next week but it was unrepaired,again I had to submitted it for the second time my new Job card No is W[protected] and now I was told that I will get a new packed piece for which I will have wait for two weeks.On status confirmation on 24th Nov 2012 I went to collect and found my IMEI No. was different and found lots of scratches on screen which was beyond my acceptation.

                                      Now I want a new handset packed or SONY should refund my money back.
