I have a Tata Sky SD Set Top Box and it has stopped working. I complained about it on the helpline (the person was very helpful).
The Next day technician came and without giving a proper look at the box directly started selling me an HD box and told me that your box cannot be repaired you'll have to use this HD box only, in spite of me telling him that I have not subscribed to HD services. But he was adamant on that HD box only. I naturally cancelled the complaint but he was very rude to me when I cancelled the complaint
I submitted the review of this service and gave 1 star and I got a call from an executive and told him the whole thing and also told him to get my box repaired, he told me the technician will look into it and if the box is not repaired then it will be replaced with a refurbished box of Rs. 350, I also requested him not to send the same guy again, he registered another complaint
After the complaint was registered, a lady called up and told me rudely that why have you booked another call after cancelling the first call already and also told me that box will not be repaired and will only be replaced as per the companies policy (The details of which have not been clarified to me by any of the executives)
The next day the same technician called me up and told me that box will not be repaired and that I have to buy an HD box only and will not get a refurbished box (He told me that these call centre guys don't know anything).
I told him not to come at home. Another technician called me up and told me that he has a refurbished box. I told him that I have requested for repair first to which he also gave the same answer of company policy (very rudely)
I again had to turn him back as well as I was not satisfied with the way they were behaving with me.
Not only that, I got 3 back to back calls from the call centre and they hounded me with why I did not replace the box and that we already told you the box will not be repaired (same story).
I told them to cancel the order. Interesting thing is on cancellation, an OTP is sent to the subscriber which is given to the technician. I got the OTP, but the call centre cancelled the order on its own without calling me!
All of this happened between 3rd and 4th March 2021
After so many days, I have registered another complaint as I have paid till November 2021 (and the box will be replaced as per the policy)
My question is why are these technicians and call centre guys so rude when I ask them to repair the box and not replace it and in which policy is it mentioned that box will not be repaired but replaced.
Whatever your answer be, I will be shifting to another provider. I just wanted to highlight how the old and regular tata sky subscribers are mistreated

Updated by Vaibhav Lodaya Got calls from your representative, but he was not able to provide any clarification of why the box cannot be repaired, nor an answer to in which policy is it mentioned that box cannot be repaired. I had to, unfortunately, cut the phone call as your guy was not able to provide any clarification to the questions that I raised and was singing the same tune of company policies
In the meantime, the complaint that I lodged, the so called technician cum engineer cum salesman came and replaced the box but he also insisted on me buying the HD box, what kind of service is this? All they want to do is keep selling more instead of solving the problem.
I don't think it is in your league to specify under which policy it is written that technician cannot repair the box and they can only replace the box. Show me the policy and I'll be satisfied with your answer. And please mention your answer in reply to the complaint here, so it is helpful for other consumers also.
