I would like to share my experience at hotel oyster andheri west, mumbai (Booking id – nh[protected] so as to learn and nobody will face the problem which i have faced in the days to come. Me and my wife came to mumbai to visit my brother stayed at mumbai since it was long weekend on 12th – 13th august 2018. We have booked the hotel through makemytrip apps and hotel oyster comes under oyo. Firstly, we were so tired and need a place to clean up and rest for sometime. When we reach the hotel, it was like chawl only in the market area and there was no appeal to stay there. We were thinking of cancelling and move to the other hotel but since we were so tired and we decided to stay for a day.
The staff asked for id proof with address, we gave them our adhaar card, then they asked for our relation with the women i am with. And i said she is my wife, then with all the attitude and rudeness, they asked to show our marriage certificate. Then i said i don’t have it now. Moreover, i don’t see why i should carry my marriage certificate every place i go. I love to travel, and i travelled a lot, nobody ever asked me this question before. After i replied to them, they denied our check in and asked me to cancel the booking. Then i told them, “please cancel my booking and we look for another hotel.” immediately they said to me that, “booking is done through makemytrip and you have to cancel it by yourself.” i have never seen such kind of hotel staff so rude to the customer.
Then i called up makemytrip customer care, ms. Swati, i may be wrong about name, handled the situation so nicely and perfectly and allowed us to stay in hotel transit at vile parle (Booking id [protected]) without paying any extra amount. I deeply appreciated how makemytrip handled perfectly when the situation becomes bad and out of control. The staff at hotel transit were so cordial and supportive and we can get back to our normal life.
The conclusion : one thing i would like to advise to management team and staff of hotel oyster is that, you must know that the value of the concept “trust and commitment” in the business you give to the traveller. If there is a thing like marriage certifiate is compulsory for check in, i really advised you to put up “list of required document” to check in at your advertisement or at least call the customer when the booking is done and inform them about the necesarry documents we have to carry along. If otherwise, you treat people just because they look different or you treat the customer as per your current mood, then you should really think twice about running the hotel business. To me, my friends and relatives will never stayed in hotel oyster again, i will always tell everyone i know that never to stay at hotel oyster. And not only this, since oyo team are so careless and put a hotel like hotel oyster in their list, i assumed that all the place are same and i shall always avoid oyo in the days to come.
