On 23rd march 2016, i booked hotel in lonavla from the makemytrip website. This was for two rooms with check in date on 24th march and check out on 26th. I paid online on makemytrip website by using credit card.
On 24th evening at 7:54 pm, when i reached lonavla, i tried to find the address and hotel as given on booking reference. Unfortunately i was neither able to find on online nor on google map. Then, i called the hotel manager (Darshan) and asked the direction for hotel. He enquired me detail of my booking and told me that makemytrip has cancelled my booking. So, they are all sold out, can not provide me hotel. I told him that i have not cancelled the hotel, and full amount was already paid. He said, he will call makemytrip and call me back agian. After 15 minutes, he called me back and told me that there was some communication gap between makemytrip and the hotel. So the rooms i booked have been already given to someone else. As it was miscommunication, he said he will arrange alternative and gave landmark and asked me to reach there.
After 10 minutes drive, i reached at the landmark given and called him again. After calling 5-6 times, he sent me sms (Sms content " [protected] deepak my caretaker"). I called that person (Deepak) and he said that he will reach at my location in 2 minutes and asked me to wait there. After 10-12 minutes, he came to me and asked me to follow him. I insisted him to tell us where was he taking. He said that darshan asked him to take us to his place (Two bhk bunglaw), "you have to stay tonight there, no one was living at that house for some time, so need to clean it, it will take 1-2 hours for cleaning.) i also asked him about facility of that house, but that was absolutely different than the described on makemytrip.
I called makemytrip and explained the situation, after 15 minutes call, makemytrip person mentioned that darshan (Hotel manager) will arrange my stay in same hotel where it was booked. Then, when i called again darshan, he said that he is out of room in booked hotel, so he will arrange my stay in another place where it is better than earlier arrangement. I waited for some time. During these conversation, deepak has already left.
Again i talked to makemytrip, they ensured that rooms will be arranged as per booking, no need to worry, they asked me to wait for makemytrip's concerned department's call. After waiting quite long time, chirag from makemytrip called me and asked me for situation, after i explained him, he hanged up phone saying he will call me back after resolving the issue. He called me back after 10 minutes and told me that he is still trying to resolve issue, need to wait for some more time.
After some time darshan called and told me that he has arranged rooms at farm house, he will arrange person at my place to guide the way. After waiting 10 -12 minutes, again deepak came on bike with his friend and asked me to follow him. I asked him where is he taking and how is the condition of rooms. He said he does not know the condition of place, but it will take 5 minutes drive from there. I agreed to him and followed his bike. (I was driving my car with family).
Chirag from makemytrip again called me and asked me to confirm whether i have checked in to hotel or not. I said no, and explained the situation. He got surprised and told me that, the hotel manager darshan has informed him that i have checked in to hotel just before. He said he will check again and hanged. After following bike around 15 minutes through a dark road, i started worrying, i can not see lights even far far away.
Meanwhile, chirag from makemytrip called me again and asked my situation, after i explained him the condition, he got surprised and asked me to stop and ask deepak where is he taking. I stopped my car and gave signal to the bike for stopping. From far away, he gave me hand and light signal to follow him further, and left. I stopped and decided to wait there for some time so that i will get to know detail. But unfortunately he did not come back. It was already more than 10pm at night. After struggling for more than 2 hours to resolve the issue, i really pissed off.
Instead of waiting at middle of jungle, i took decision to take u-turn and get back to lonavla market. I explained the situation to chirag from makemytrip while going back to lonavla market. He also felt helpless after seeing whole activity and told me that he will help me on all the possible extent and hanged the phone. After that i neither got call from hotel nor from makemytrip. I searched some other hotels in lonavla and finally able checked in in kumar resort at 11:45pm.
The very next day (25th march), i called makemytrip, he took me on conference-call with hotel manager darshan. He agreed on phone that there was communication gap due to which i was not able to check-in last night. But he insisted that he has spent huge energy on arranging hotel at night in farm house, he can only refund money of one night (Booking was for two nights). I insisted to makemytrip and hotel manager for full refund and also compensate for my time and situation. Hotel manager darshan said he can only agree for one night refund and said he has to take care of other customers so can not discuss it any more and hanged the phone. Makemytrip guy said, i have to sort it out with hotel, he can not help me. Afte i insisted further, he said he will escalate matter to his manager and his manager will call me in four hours. I did not receive any call after-ward.
I also wrote email to makemytrip later mentioning the detail of activities that happened last evening (Complaint reference id :[protected]. Later makemytrip replied that makemytrip can not do anything, and not able to refund my booking amount.
