I own a Volkswagen vento diesel highline purchased on 2011 May. Cars run only 57, 000 KMs and I am regularly doing all periodic services with VW. Car registration number is KL-35-C-2525.

I am totally unsatisfied with the ownership experience with my car. I faced 9 breakdowns and among them 7 breakdowns are during last 2 years and 3 months. All those breakdowns happened while travelling with my family which puts all of my family stranding on the road including my little kids.

I spent more than 1 lakh rupees for repairing and towing car to VW workshop. More than 1 lakh rupees which I spent only for repairing during last 2 years and 3 months other than regular maintenance cost which comes 30, 000 rupees. So total amount spent during last 2 years and 3 months is more than Rs. 1, 30, 000.

Major problems facing
1) Frequent Fuel Injector failure
2) Frequent ABS sensor failure
3) Steering rack problems
4) Engine oil leak through rocker cover gasket

There are lot of discussion about this in Indian and international forum, and the above-mentioned issues are due to the design fault/defective product of VW. Majority of customers facing same complaints in India. VW is selling defective products /spare parts and cheating the customers. Customers has to spent huge amount of money for repair and VW making money by cheating the customers. Replaced spars are also getting failed within very short span of time.

My history about injector failure - Car got breakdown on Sep 2018 due to injector failure. They replaced it free of cost at that time after having lots of argument with VW and raising the issue with different forums. Car again got breakdown on Jan 2019 due to another injector failure which ends up paying Rs.13, 000 from my pocket. Again car got breakdown on Jan 2020 due to injector failure which end up by paying Rs.21, 500. And the injector failed at this time is the same injector which is already replaced on Sep 2018. From that it is understood, replaced parts are also defective as it lasts only 2 years and 3 months. I asked explanation to VW about the early failure but no reply from them.

Breakdowns during my ownership period
1) 2013 – ABS failure, coolant leak
2) 2014 – Starter motor failure
3) 2016 – ABS failure
4) Sep 2018 – Injector failure
5) Nov 2018 – ABS failure
6) Jan 2019 – Injector failure
7) Jan 2019 – Starter issue
8) Nov 2020 – ABS Failure
9) Jan 2021 – Injector failure

See below the wordings about defective injector from an internal document of VW
"Production change
Improved injectors are implemented in series production at VWIPL from CW03/13. Cut-Off VIN - TMBBLANA9DG035155.

Defective injector must be replaced by improved injector as per following guidelines:
All injectors which are produced after 15th Jun.2012 are improved & should be used for replacement of defective injectors."

From above statement, it is clear that their injectors are defective. They never recalled the affected cars for free replacements. My car is affected one as it belongs to that period. I am facing frequent breakdowns and paid huge amount for their defective product.

VW, please do following in my case

1) Already Replaced 2 injectors. Other 2 injectors will fail at any time as it is manufactured on 2011. Injector manufactured on 2011 are faultier. So please replace those 2 injectors at free of cost.

2)I replaced one injector on Jan 2021 by paying Rs.21, 500 which was already replaced on Sep 2018.
So please refund that amount as it is failed within 2 years and 3 months.

3)Replace the steering rack free of cost as it is showing complaint within 57, 000 KMs. It should last for at least 1 lakh kilometers.

4)Fix the engine oil leak by replacing rocker cover gasket at free of cost. It is another manufacturing defect. It is not wear and tear part. Lost of customers facing same problem and details available on different forums.

Please do immediate action on this rather than putting customers on road due to breakdowns

    Address: Kun Volkswagen service pondicherry

I have left my vehicle polo GT on 27th Jan 2021 9 am for the complaint of abs lamp and esp lamp glowing. Its been more than 24 hours no one called or informed me the vehicle status.
I have called them several times but no one is ready to respond. I think they have not alloted my vehicle which is very clear by their behaviour. I have been owning a Volkswagen from 2012 and this is my 2nd Volkswagen car in our family,
I had given nearly 3 persons to buy a Volkswagen. Is this the way the vw dealer takes care of their customers.
Everytime when I visit the service dealer its a same old story, this incident happening right now is also the same old story with new dealer in our location.
Last thing I want to mention is if this complaint is not rectified, I am going to sell my vehicle and book a new vehicle from other brand who value the customer needs.
    Thank u

      I own a Volkswagen vento (KL-35-C-2525) 1.6L diesel purchased on May 2011.

Facing frequent injector failure (3rd time) with my vento TDI 2011 model...cars run only 55, 000 kilometers and regularly doing all periodic services with authorized VW service centers.

First I faced injector failure on Sep 2018. Due to breakdown, car towed to VW Kottayam. They inspected the car and asked to replace all 4 injectors which costs more than 1 lakh rupees. I bring attention the same to VW India, as injector failure is very high with 2011 model due to manufacturing defect. Then SC told like it is required to replace only 1 injector of 4th cylinder and they will do that in good will warranty and clear the errors of other injectors and no need to replace other 3 injectors.

Car again got breakdown on Jan 2020, towed to VW Kottayam. They told like need to replace 3rd injector. After raising the constraint about manufacturing defect they replaced the same in 50% customer share.

Again car got breakdown on 25th Jan 2021. Now VW Maradu, Cochin saying that issue is with injector of 4th cylinder which is already replaced 2 years and 4 months back in goodwill warranty. I asked for support from VW, they denied that by saying like they replaced it one time earlier.

It is clear that it is failed due to manufacturing defect as it last only for 2 years and 3 months. Now I can't dependent on my car for any travel as it is getting breakdown due to injector failure 3rd time. Other than injector failure I faced breakdown 3 more times due to different issue like ABS sensor failure, starter motor failure. So totally I faced breakdown 6 times and spent around Rs. 25, 000 for towing car to service centers.

So big question in my mind is like why should I keep this car as I can't depend this car for my needs. And I can't afford these much maintenance cost like towing cost, high spare cost and frequent failures.

Now I have to again pay around Rs.23, 000 for the cost but don't know how long it last.

Injector failure is common with VW cars manufactured before 15th Jun.2012. Please see below the wordings from an internal technical product information of VW (I have the copy of original PDF of the same)

As a customer I am struggling lot due to these frequent breakdowns which stranding me with family on the road due to car breakdowns.

It is shame to VW, that replaced injectors also getting failed within a short pan of time like 2 years and 3 months.

As VW denied the support, I have to pay the full amount to get it replaced.

VW should ensure some reliability on their cars and spare parts, rather than putting customers on the road due to breakdowns.
Also please stop stealing from customer pocket by selling defective products and spare parts.

So please make arrangement to return the amount charged from me for this injector replacement.

Replaced faulty injector by paying Rs. 21, 500 from my pocket.

I paid for the injector which is replaced 2 years and 3 months back. Which means I paid Rs. 21, 500 for the faulty injector manufactured and sold by VW. Cheating customers.

VW, please don't come with comments like your issue is addressed by you.

Please return my money Rs. 21, 500

            Ameo frequent abs failure

I had my two abs sensors replaced in September 2020. And obviously it does cost a lot and I bought my car in 2017. When I had told my friends about this failure, none of their cars reported this issue, but with Ameo it seems it is pretty common. And now in Jan 2021, I'm getting an ABS faulty indicator in my console again. My question if its a known issue in Ameo, why isn't it being recalled and fixed completely. I can't keep on paying for...

              Respected sir / madam,

good morning, im a previleged customer of volswagen since 2013.
I had done with my service on 28th december 2020, .

              Ph. No. [protected].

The issue is there was a ignition symbol blinks in my polo gt after 10 days, between that i had come to the service centre once for a body shop work, the service person mr. Navaneetha krishnan was so reluctant to approach the vehicle.
And finally on 10/01/2021 my vehicle had stopped near melur madurai since the engine has seized.

I once again called them for a help there was no proper response, he said he was on leave atleast he sould have approached me regarding this issues.

The coolant tank was been changed 5 months ago, and the car is been parked at a marble shed, so that im sure that there was no leak of coolant fluid..

Last time when i changed my coolant tank they gave me the remaining coolant fluid, but this time they denied to give the fluid "this shows they havent changed it".

Kindly respond as soon as possible sir/madam.

                  Copy

I am a long time and loyal Volkswagen customer, having a diesel Passat, a diesel Polo & petrol Polo. Bought the VW Passat on 27th December 2017 from the same VW dealer in Allahabad as the one I bought both my previous Polo from.

At the time of finalizing the Passat, the dealer informed me that it was a demo vehicle and as such offered me some discount, extended warranty(EW) and Road Side Assistance(RSA) for 2 years to the standard 2 EW + RSA, i.e., 2+2=4 years of EW+RSA. In my previous 2 VW vehicles also I bought additional warranties, and the same can be verified in VW records.

8-9 months after buying the Passat, the VW dealer closed, and I was left with no other option than to take my car to service stations outside Allahabad for servicing and repairs.

Lucknow service center (Viraj Distributors) is THE MOST pathetic, deceitful, unreliable and incapable auto service station I have come across. Once my car was delivered with a dead battery. On another occasion I had given the car repainting and they returned the car with visible scratches all over the screen (which a staff from the service station itself later told on the condition of anonymity that the scratches occurred while trying to remove paint particles from the windscreen as the paint-booth guys forgot to check is windscreen was covered properly at the time of painting. This even lead to an accident, where I merely missed hitting a stationary truck due to poor visibility at night.

On 30th September, 2020 whilst driving from Agra to Allahabad, all of a sudden the car showed a warning sign of coolant leak and engine overheat. I parked the car immediately and contacted VW RSA upon which I was informed that my EW and RSA had expired 9 months back on 27th December 2019, and that RSA services would be chargeable and that it would take at least 3-4 hours to reach. VW RSA couldn't arrange an onwards transport for me and I have to arrange my own taxi which would be reimbursable.

Upon reaching Allahabad, I took the car to the newly opened workshop, where the service technician seemed to have no clue about the vehicle. Still after diagnosing it for some time I was informed that there is leakage in the "water-pump" of the car and that it would take 10-20 days for the part to arrive, during which I can use the vehicle within city limits as the temporary fix on the water hose pipe is working. Once again inquiring about the extended warranty (2+2 years) that I was promised at the time of selling the vehicle, I was given contact details of the previous dealer, who initially agreed that I was promised 4 years warranty & RSA and that he'll get it corrected in a few days. After following for more than a week, he simply denied anything about EW and said that vehicle has warranty only for 2 years, and that if I was promised extended warranty, I should have taken it in writing. The kind of amazing experience I had with my previous Polo vehicles both with VW India and the erstwhile dealer, I decided not to insist for written warranty certificate as I was told that additional warranty certificate was issued only if you are buying additional warranty on old cars, with new cars it is by default added in your vehicle database. I went with the promise of dealership as I had no reason to believe otherwise and the overall experience had been good till then.

Then I tried contacting VW customer care toll free number, regarding warranty complaints. Every single time I was given lame promises that they will look into it or they will call back. Till date I haven't received any call back in this regard. On one particular incident I requested to speak to a company person or a personnel higher up in the hierarchy, to which I was told that my request has been registered and that I will get a call back within 48-hours. Later when I called after 2 days, saying it's been over 48 hours and I haven't received a call back, i was told that I am supposed to get a call back after "48 working hours" which according to an 8-hour work shift from Monday to Friday, meant I'll get a call back after almost 8-10 days. This clearly seemed evasive and deceitful, that you require 8-10 days just to call back to update on a customer complaint. Still I waited, and never received any call even till date.

Eventually I was forced to get the vehicle repaired out of my own pocket on 9th December 2020 at the VWL Allahabad Service center, to a charge amounting to Rs.20500. After which I was assured that there is no issue with the vehicle, that the technicians have checked it thoroughly for any other faults relating to engine over-heating and coolant leakage. Upon assurance by the service center advisor and workshop manager at Allahabad, we again started using the vehicle and took it outstation the next day to Noida. Whilst returning from Noida to Allahabad, the vehicle again showed warning light for coolant leakage and engine overheat near Mathura. We immediately stopped the car and arranged for a flat-bed crane and sent the vehicle to Volkswagen Service center at Noida Sector-6 (Viraj Automobiles) as it was the nearest service station.

At the Noida service station the vehicle was diagnosed and I was informed that the water-hose pipe had burst, for which I was repeatedly assured by Allahabad service station that there is nothing wrong with said water-hose pipe and that the only part malfunctioning was the water-pump. This clearly means that firstly Allahabad service station technicians did not diagnose the vehicle properly, and secondly that the water pump for which I paid a hefty Rs.20500 might have not been faulty in the first place. Still, the part arrived after a week, and the vehicle was parked at the service station all this while. The vehicle was delivered to us on the 23rd December, 2020. I was once again reassured that all diagnosis had been done and the problem will not arise again. As soon as I sat down in the vehicle and opened the small compartment below the steering I find a dead rat inside it, who seemingly entered the vehicle while being parked at the service station and ate up some wire/components. Now this never happened in the nearly 3 years we had this vehicle and at Allahabad or Lucknow service stations. Speaks volumes for pest control and handling at Noida service station.

We left for Allahabad on 26th December, 2020, the vehicle was mostly parked at the Hotel through our stay in Delhi. Once again the engine overheat and coolant warning light came up as soon as we entered Agra. This was after water pump and water hose pipe had been replaced and the vehicle inspected and repaired by 2 different service stations. This time again we had to send the vehicle back to Noida service station (as Agra service station has shut down). Over there they are now claiming that there is internal damage within the engine and seemingly there is internal leakage of coolant from the engine gasket, that the engine head needs to be opened and estimated repair cost could be between Rs.200000-Rs.250000 or even more. Upon asking how is it possible that they did not check it before delivering the vehicle, I am told that "it is not possible for us to thoroughly check the vehicle and do a comprehensive test drive, as it is an internal component". So does this not imply that Volkswagen India is incapable of diagnosing problems in a car they are manufacturing and selling in the country, that the safety and wellbeing of the passengers are solely dependent on "speculation" and "guess-work" of service advisors and technicians, where no attempt is made to even find out the actual cause of the problem. Once again upon pushing the service advisor and workshop manager, they are not sure whether the problem really is leakage in engine gasket, and requires opening of engine head. If not, then I would have spent Rs.250000 all for nothing, and also have my engine head opened just because a service technician "thinks that there is internal leakage of coolant".

As of now I still haven't heard from any Volkswagen company person either on mail or call. The service center people are not ready to even take up my case for the warranty fraud done with me.

This is a case of harassment of senior citizens. Our car numbered WB 06H 8733 was sent to the Volkswagon workshop at OSL Exclusive Pvt Ltd, 36A, Topsia Road, Kolkata-700039 in the 1st week of October, 2020 with a problem. I was told that since spare parts were not available due to Covid 19, to bring back the car once the spare parts arrived. I contacted the workshop in the 3rd week of October, 2020 but the parts had not arrived. Finally I was told to book the car for repair on 30th November, 2020 as the spare parts had arrived. When I sent the car to the workshop I was told that it would take 12-15 days for the spare parts to arrive. I agreed to the delay. I was told that the spare parts which had arrived were the wrong ones and hence the delay. Finally the car was repaired and annual servicing was also done and was ready on 30th December, 2020, a full 3 months from the time it was sent to the workshop in October, 2020. I had incurred expenditure on commuting, since the car was not there, through the delay due to wrong spare parts arrival. I requested that a concession be given on the bill since we were senior citizens. However the bill amount of Rs. 36308/- was not changed inspite of my repeated requests over email. I feel that this is harassment of senior citizens and wish for a concession to the tune of Rs. 6000/- I shall pay Rs. 30, 000/- for the services rendered by the workshop.

Wishing you a happy healthy & prosperous new year in advance. I have chosen VW for its proven track record of a high standard of quality & aftersales service. My Vehicle Registration number is MH02 CP 1592, VENTO 1.6CR(MT) HIGHLINE. It is just about 25000 KM of running & This is the fourth time i am facing fuel injection system problem. It's annoying & indeed disappointing from a German multinational of a extrely high reputation. I have already paid close to RS 50000 For replacement at Vidyut motors, Authorised service centre for VW in Pune @ Mangala Talkies.
Sevice manager of Vidyut Motors ( Most Probably Mr. Singh) has suggested to fill in fuel at SHELL only for its better quality, i am been regularly filling from them although the Gas stations are far away from my residence. The result is still disappointing.
Must mention that my confidence is shaken big time to take the car for long travels. There is a fear that Spiral Indicator would start blinking any time. On search on google it is evident that this a a very common problem faced by many. Transmission to 2nd gear is another. In developed countries for problems such as these, The organisations are very accountable & alert. There is a mass recall in case it is a batch problem. I need help on this problem, ideally entire fuel injection assembly should be replaced free of cost & with honour. The problem is live & i am not driving the car in disappointment.

I visited frontier volkswagen service centre, Gurugram(Haryana) on 16th December, 2020.My appointment time was 9.30am and i reached service centre at 9.25am.There was no customer there as yet, and still my job card was made arnd 10.10am.hence i had to wait approx 40min to get the job card open and let the service of my car start.
2 days before i received whatsapp message from service centre asking to give 5star rating on customer feedback to which i replied il see.On this, the person requested again to give them 5star rating and share if i had any issue, on sharing the issue the person remained mum and till date no action or revert has been recieved by me from them.
Infact, i was told that the car would be given to me by 3-3.30pm only, but it was me who was standing on the head and getting things done timely, and hence i got the car timely too though.
Request you to look into the matter as we owe such a wonderfull product but dont want or expect these kind of services from VW.

I have problem with my Volkswagen vento car. Had given for service on 1st week of November. Initially they said it will take 5-6 days to arrive the part. Then told another 5-6 days then another 7-9 days they had given 20th dec as eta, now they have given 30th dec eta ... So it will be around 2 months for which my vehicle is on breakdown I am unable to use it. Not sure if they are going to repair this. Very frustrated with this. Psychologically depressed. Had purchased from Bharat Motors, Pahala, bhubaneswar Odisha. The vehicle was purchased on 12th Mar 2020 and still in warranty period. Vehicle number -- OD02BJ7619.

Address: Volkswagen Madras South, OMR Chennai.

                                  To Whom It May Concern,

I am writing today to complain of the poor service I received from your Volkswagen Madras South OMR outlet, on December 1, 2020. I was visited by a representative of the service center, Mr. Abdul, on that day.

I had given my VW Polo for the 15k or 1 year service, which was not inspected properly when filling the job card. The car was received on the 30th of November and during the delivery on the next day, the rear bumper had few scratches on the left corner. While enquiring to the service advisor he mentioned that it was already there when the car was delivered, which is not.

I am owning this vehicle for the past year and has not a single scratch on it except the one which was there during the delivery of the vehicle(rear right panel above fuel lid). I have informed to the service advisor about the existing scratch which was then noted in the job card. The service advisor has then guaranteed me that it is his responsibility to get the scratch in the bumper to be rectified after a huge argument.

I have informed the same to the service manager and had been doing a follow up for the same, and there is no positive response. I am most annoyed that this is not being taken forward nor considered to be responded.

I trust this is not the way Volkswagen wishes to conduct business with valued customers—I have been with you since 2013 and this is my 3rd car with Volkswagen. I have never encountered such treatment before. I would welcome the opportunity to discuss matters further and to learn of how you propose to prevent a similar situation from recurring. I look forward to hearing from you.

                                  Thanks.

Even i am facing the same problem, i own a top end Vento 2014, from the time of purchase until now i have changed the sensors multiple times.

The sensor issue is causing major safety issues such as breaks don't work, vehicle automatically accelerates and jerks, when the vehicle is in idle state doors get locked.
