II've faced a very unfortunate situation 3 weeks ago when I booked a flight from Hyderabad to Delhi.
On October 2nd, I booked two tickets for October 8th, Thursday from Hyd to Delhi at 8:50 pm on an Air India flight. As for any domestic flight, we reached the Hyderabad airport an hour before the departure time, at 7:55-8 PM. When we reached the Air India counter, they refused to let us on board because it was an "International Flight" which would be going to Chicago from Delhi.
It was not mentioned on the e-tickets nor were we informed by MakeMyTrip.com or Air India that it was an international flight. After 45 minutes of arguing and pleading, we had no choice but to book tickets on a different airline and forego our initial tickets. Also, we weren't the only ones who were refused entry on the flight. There were about 10-12 people who faced the same situation as us. Where in they booked their tickets through makemytrip.com and were NOT aware that they had booked tickets for an international flight. Had we known that this was a connecting flight, we would have arrived at the airport 2 hours in advance.
Now, Air India claims that since we booked our tickets through MakeMyTrip.com, so MakeMyTrip.com guys are responsible for letting the passengers know the important piece of information that we had booked tickets for an international flight.
I had spoken to one of MakeMyTrip.com's customer reps that night and he said that he cannot do much about this. But I disagree, I think it is MakeMyTrip.com's responsibility to give the passengers all the required information regarding their bookings. It is not fair that the passengers have to lose out on thousands of rupees just because MakeMyTrip.com made a mistake.
I had tried to reach out to MakeMyTrip.com by posting on their Facebook page but my post doesn't even show up on their wall because they have probably removed it.
We were looking into your concern but have found that a few important details are missing.
Please provide us with the following details:
- Booking ID or
- Email address used at the time of booking
